Personally I like Alderheart best although I enjoy reading from Violetpaw's point of view. Besides the few main characters mentioned in this poll, I also really like Puddleshine and hope he get's a more central part in the series. And also my least favorite cat right now is Needletail although she is written pretty well. Anyway who are your favorite cats mentioned in AVOS? They can be new or old characters! c: Also 14 day hype until Hawkwing's Journey is out. YAY! ^_^ |

ive only read half of TAQ and im currently trying to get through TAS but i dont see why everyone hates Needletail. at least where I'm at, she's not so bad?

Once you get to about the middle of Thunder and Shadow, you'll realize why she is a "bad" character. i just finished it and no im still not seeing why she's so bad. Like yeah she disobeyed some rules and yeah she's not the most empathetic character, but so? She never hurt anyone, and when she was completely sick of Clan life, she left. some might call that betrayal but the way i see if, if she can be happier outside a clan then let her go. The apprentices clearly were dissatisfied with the way they were treated (i.e "respect has to be earned" no rowanstar, the young kids deserve to be respected too. no crowfrost u can't just call them stupid and then expect them to blindly follow all ur traditions, some of which have bad ethics or dont matter at all) i mean i cant blame them for wanting to leave. i dont think needletail was completely in the right, but she's young. she's literally in her teenage rebellion years and she found a gang, smoked a few joints, and actually felt like she belonged (unlike when she was in shadowclan and felt overwhelmed with all their traditions and rules). she even had a bf like damn if i was in that situation id probably leave too lol her parents didnt even care that she left, i honestly cant see how she owed even a bit of loyalty to the clans anyway i dont actually wanna turn this into a rant so im gonna stop there |

Needlepaw/tail and the rest should've tried reasoning with Rowanstar and be diplomatic, and give them reasons why should they actually get respect as well, and maybe admit they did some mistakes (even if they didn't mean it honestly), and not just come and demand "gimme respect or ........." because that is simply childish and rude. So I guess I understand her, but she didn't choose the right way to react. |

I really like Alderheart, but a really close second is Twigpaw. I think the fact that they are shown with flaws, and not perfect is so appealing.

Another thing to add is that when Needletail was just starting out her training, she was taken by an owl while hunting with Tawnypelt. She clearly survived, but was a long way from home. She had hope that her Clanmates would find her, even wanting to save prey for them, and met a rogue named Tree. He helped her get back home, but it turns out that ShadowClan immediately assumed she was dead after she was taken and didn't bother to search for her, even her own parents, so they underestimated her. They were also quick to dismiss Tree just because he wasn't a Clan cat. Needletail was the only one who had faith in him. Even though I don't agree with Needletail's actions and I still do think she (and the rest of ShadowClan for that matter) should be punished if only to learn her lesson, especially after possibly manipulating Violetpaw and hurting Twigpaw, but I can see the reasons for her actions. |
