Not writing an ending, but an idea for an ending, because why not? Everybody else seems to want to do it.
Mentions of StarClan cats fading and killing spirit cats are removed.
StarClan originally existed as a way for the spirits of departed warriors to watch over the Clans before moving to their final rest, if they chose to. The Dark Forest existed as a place for cats with regrets or inner turmoil to find peace before they moved on. However, both of these places became corrupted by some entity, preventing any of the residents from moving on.
You can kill the spirit cats in the Dark Forest, but they come back shortly afterwards. However, each time they return, they're a little more faded. Fading symbolizes a loss of self, and the faded warriors become more feral and vicious, their memories and personalities getting washed away.
The corruption of StarClan and the Dark Forest is all because of Rock. When he was young and foolish, he made some sort of deal with the devil (somewhere between metaphorically and literally, since there's a malevolent entity involved) that ended up causing this to happen. He's the most cursed cat of all.
Some Dark Forest cats are away of the fading corruption, and their plan is to expose the trainees to some form of it. Even if they can't kill the trainees, wearing them down still causes them to lose themselves. By doing this, eventually the trainees won't even care for their Clanmates, and will just go along with the battle.
The purpose of the Three isn't to fight in the battle, it's to undo the corruption and help the cats of StarClan and the Dark Forest move on. During the battle, while their Clanmates fight, Jayfeather, Dovewing, and Lionblaze head into StarClan and travel to its heart where they find the source of the corruption. They have to use their powers to put an end to it.
Meanwhile, Cinderheart is the Fourth. I'm flipping the reincarnations. Cinderheart is true reincarnation, while Jayfeather, Dovewing, and Lionblaze are possessed by the spirits of Ancients, giving them their powers. She came back from death, she came back from forgetting who she was, and in her first life, she learned to move on. With the help of Ivypool and Hollyleaf, she does some stuff to help the trainees remember who they are, and to make the faded Dark Forest warriors whole again.
However, this isn't the end of the corruption. Even though the Four fulfilled their purpose, the entity that caused the corruption still lives. Breezepelt, manipulated by the Dark Forest into being a true believer, has taken it into his heart, and he hasn't so much lost himself as he has become one with the darkness. The Dark Breezepelt emerges as the battle seems won, and uses his power to seal away StarClan and the Dark Forest.
All traces of Breezepelt appear to have been consumed by the entity. It begins to march towards the lake. Midnight saw the first sunrise, reflected in the lake, and now the lake will be the site of the end. The entity made its deal with Rock so that one day, it could consume the Dark Forest and StarClan, using the power of the spirits to fuel itself, and extinguish all life. However, causing the corruption weakened it, and it has been waiting all this time until it grew strong enough to return. Now, if it can reach the lake, it will be able to consume the spirit cats and end the world.
To protect everything he cherishes, Firestar fights against the Dark Breezepelt. He manages to delay it long enough for the Four, plus Ivypool and Hollyleaf, to arrive, but the Dark Breezepelt is too powerful, and Firestar is killed. The six warriors scream in loss, and they charge at the Dark Breezepelt, beginning the final battle for the fate of the world.
There is a titanic fight, and the warriors manage to weaken the Dark Breezepelt, but he's still too strong, and they are taken down and Cinderheart is killed. However, Crowfeather arrives with a patrol consisting of Onestar, Nightcloud, Heathertail, and Boulderfur. Crowfeather admits to his faults as a father, and promises that he will do his best to make amends for his mistakes. Because he was weakened by the six heroes, Dark Breezepelt is defeated by Crowfeather and his patrol. The entity emerges from Breezepelt as black smoke. One part of it tries to kill him, but Crowfeather saves Breezepelt.
However, the heroes see that the black smoke is heading towards the lake, and that it will still reach it. Ivypool has an idea, but it's probably too late anyway. Despite that, the heroes decide that they have to try.
Nearby, Breezepelt finds himself fully lucid for the first time in a long while. He finds himself surrounded by his Clanmates, who love him, forgive him, and apologize to him. As well, Boulderfur admires him. Crowfeather says that he's happy that his son is safe, and that even if he can't undo his mistakes, he will try to be better.
But Breezepelt doesn't care about any of it. Even with all this, he's still the same selfish, petty cat he's always been. Instead of going back with his Clanmates, he runs away from them, and back to the black smoke of the entity. Completely of sound mind, he takes the power back, craving it more than he cares for anyone else. The evil entity is pulled back into him, and his power returns.
Before Breezepelt's mind fades away, he attacks the WindClan patrol and slaughters them. He kills Onestar, Nightcloud, Heathertail, and Boulderfur, and attacks Crowfeather, but can't kill him in time. The entity takes hold of him completely, and turns back towards the lake, towards certain victory.
Except that this delay gave Ivypool's plan enough time to work. The Three release their Ancient spirits, setting them free and giving up their powers. The spirits fly together to Firestar, and he rises like a phoenix, creating a great fire. Hollyleaf realizes that if she brings the entity into the fire, she can destroy it, but she'll die too. She resolves to sacrifice herself to atone for her sins, and grabs the Dark Breezepelt. She drags him towards the flames, finally at peace. But then, she's knocked away. She sees Crowfeather standing over her, having thrown her off the Dark Breezepelt. "I can't save my son," says Crowfeather, "but I can save you, my daughter. Don't atone for your sins by dying. Atone for them by living, working each day to make up for what you've done, and by one day becoming a leader that I can be proud of." Then, he drags the Dark Breezepelt into the flames, dying alongside his son to destroy the entity.
With the entity destroyed, its curse finally ends. The cats of StarClan and the Dark Forest are freed, and are all seen reflected in the lake. The arc ends with all the cats of StarClan and the Dark Forest who choose to moving on to their final rest, led by Cinderheart and the Ancient Spirits. The Three say farewell to Rock as he leaves and finally finds peace. Bramblestar forgives Squirrelflight and makes her his deputy, while its suggested that Hollyleaf will get an apprentice. It all ends with Jayfeather, Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, Dovewing, and Ivypool looking out at the lake and thinking that a new era is coming, one that belongs to them.
