Why does this prejudice exist?

It's because of our brain and the media.
Our brain originally, in order to survive, picked the healthiest, strongest mate to produce strong offspring.
That and the media brainwashes us into thinking that certain appearances are better than others.

I think everyone has their own tastes of what they find attractive and what they don't. I don't really think they can help what they are attracted to. What's hot to one person could be a total turn off to someone else.
The only bad thing is media tries to push one certain type as the only acceptable thing, and everything else that doesn't come close is terrible and should be shamed. That's what causes so many problems.

I'd say its partially due to evolution, though mostly due to media. Slim, fit and 'stereotypically attractive' (e.g. shapely women and toned men) people are most often presented in magazines, billboards, ads, the internet and so on and so on. I believe that this 'normalises' what people look like - or 'should' look like - and sets delusional and blind standards that CAN be unhealthy for most. When my social anxiety was at it's worst, I hardly left my house and mostly stayed on the internet all day, and I had gotten such deluded expectations and images of what people look like. People in media look nothing like people irl lol, imagine my surprise. (Not saying that it's negative.. In fact, it was more positive than anything!)
Anyway.. I think that some bodies are just deemed to be more attractive because of what certain societies idealise. In the end, personal tastes trump ALLLL. Always. :-)

I don't know why. I personally, prefer a guy who's at least a couple inches taller than me and not extremely skinny like most of the guys my age. As for girls I prefer ones who don't have a "stick figure" but that's just me. Other than that I go for personality, but that cancels out almost everyone at my school. Most of the girls are too catty and the guys are mostly jerks. I think that it's mostly what we're attracted too though honestly, not all of us have the same standards.

Okay, first of imo I think that the inside is what counts not looks. Sounds cliche, but that is true in all ways. If you are skinny, but you are a hater, I wonuldn't like you, but if you were chubby and nice, I would be please to be friends with you.

Everyone has opinions and honestly all shapes have their own beauty! None are not attractive. Everyone was made to be attracted to their true partner thus their shape but that doesn't mean all shapes aren't beautiful! I'm small but thick called "pear" some people say my shape is ugly and exercise the pear off! Oh well that's what some say, guess they don't like small waists and a large back side😂. EVERY shape has a peice of beauty that the other doesn't have all are special !!!
