We all have to give credit to Echomist, who was a good mother to Crookedstar as a kitten. While Mapleshade may have been a mother to him, she was manipulative and betrayed him in the end. Rainflower was never a mother to him the moment he broke his jaw and we all know that. She was abusive to him and neglected him. She didn't even care about him. But Echomist did a lot for him and she wasn't even his mother.
She supported him when his parents were arguing.
According to his memories, Echomist was there for him every time he had a nightmare.
She didn't even judge him when he first came out in the nursery. Was Echomist the only one who never gave him weird looks, besides Oakkit and Shellheart?
Echomist deserves more credit than just being thrown in the background by the Erins. In my opinion, she is Crookedstar's true mother. She never judged him or gave him weird looks, supported him when he needed her the most, and didn't freak out all the time like Brambleberry did.
I personally don't really like Brambleberry as a mother - I see her more as a friend or a therapist for him. She kept freaking out and fearing he'll take the wrong path. I mean, I understand her, but she could have handled it better and given him good advice instead of always saying "No, things might be fine!" However, she was a good friend to him in the end, when Crookedstar confessed everything to her, and trusted him in the end.

Really, Echomist deserves more than just being a background character. I wish she was shown more often in CP.
