This is not a joke thread. I feel the need to state this.
Do you have any triggers?
I have one. It's kind of personal so I don't feel like saying exactly what it is, but whenever I see it it sends me into a panic mode. My heartbeat increases and I feel sick to my stomach. I start crying. It's always really bad and I just turn into a mess when I see it and I can't think right.
If you have any, how do you deal with them?

I have one. It deals with what I went through with the foster care system. That's all I will share. I start feeling cold and shaky, like ice.

Personally, I have a panic disorder...so y'know I have lots of triggers, but the biggest ones are unfamiliar people, talking in crowds, crowds in general, and talking about anything that has happened in the past and had a correlation with my panic disorder and depression.

When soneone mispronounces my first name.
Or tries to give me a nickname.
Or mispronounces the name of my state.
Although I think that's a trigger for ever Oregonian.

i think it's because of my bpd - if someone i care about is like "i get triggered by ____" then every time for the next week i see THEIR trigger, i suddenly panic. but i don't think i have many/any on my own. i used to panic every time the phone rang because i was absolutely sure it'd be someone who would make my parents hurt me, but that's faded. mostly.

o yeah this probably is Not a trigger but i have some sensory issues so like if too many people are talking at once plus the TV is on plus the bird is squawking etc then i'll have a lil bit of a meltdown or if my shirt is too tight around my wrists or neck i'll panic a tiny bit. and it's not because the shirt is ACTUALLY too tight my sensory issues just hate me or like if too much is going on around me suddenly i can't keep wearing my sweatshirt because it's Too Much Input like i will lash out at you if you're the cause or you add to it. scream/hit/whatever.
stuff like that

I think some of you don't really understand what a trigger is...?
I have PTSD. So I do have a few triggers in relation to the trauma that caused it. For example, I can't see movies, pictures, TV shows, etc. that depict hit and runs/car accidents. I will shut down completely and go into a serious panic meltdown. I admit it's gotten slightly better than it was, but not be a whole lot.

not rly a trigger tbh but any extreme gore description / torture sequence will f me up for quite a while & i don't understand how people can watch those silently lol
anyone in extreme pain basically. i don't want to hear / listen to / think about it & it doesn't help that my brain runs wild with that crap lol

also guys
triggers should (often) give u a physical reaction wherein you aren't coping well at all w what's happening & you feel as if you can't stand the presence or occurrence of that thing (rough definition)
a thing that makes you angry / irritated / mildly uncomfortable isn't a trigger. it's just a thing that bothers you.

Trigger warning about my triggers, dorms/camps/other living spaces with only one room for you and then a commons area. Reason: going to the mental hospital made me worse and this isnt even the only new trigger i left with. Windows around dusk/night time make me panic and scream or freeze up or just run away. Reason: my birthfather was a continuous stalker and used to look through at me and even tried busting a window to kidnap me once. Real gore/nsfw content Reason: i had a spam pop up virus on an old computer that constantly played real people dying or.... yeah when i was 11 and it made and still makes me have panic attacks for shock value alone. People calling me she or by my dead name. #1 easiest way to make me depressed and/or want to attack you. This one is pretty self explanitory. Unexpectedly seeing ghosts. Ok i know some people dont believe in them, but i do. And no i actually dont have schizo or hallucinate bc other people who believe in ghosts or see them see the exact same thing i do. Its just still startling to see one out of the blue im not used to. But because as soon as they appear i cant "sense" their kntentions i alwaus panic and think, "oh gods im gonna die right now this is it im gone."

Hmmm, don't know whether they count as triggers...?
If I talk about my depression with others, even in a relaxed way, it turns a Good Day into a Bad Day pretty much immediately. Which isn't good, since it's important to talk about. Also sometimes I get worked up pretty bad. Like, if the teacher tells us to hand in work that I didn't do and I feel really guilty and bad about it, I might flinch and start shaking at random (so not constantly, more in bursts every few minutes). I also had a panic attack once. Have no idea what started it, so I don't know when it might happen again. Probably at the worst possible time.
