Do you guys think the word abuse is being thrown around too much when it comes to certain cats? Cats like Rainflower and Lizardstripe for instance I get. I even understand why people think Millie to be abusive.
But cats like Windstar or Jayfeather? I don't get it. Harsh, sure, but I don't see how they were abusive.
So, do you think we're throwing the word around a little too much? And personally for you guys, which cats that have been accused of being abusive actually weren't (and vice versa if you want)?

Yes. Yes it is
What people don't understand is mean =/= abusive

I mean as the people grow, some words lose their meaning and eventually start getting thrown around more easily.
Hell and damn would be a extremely bad word in older times, so is the f bomb.
Most words lose their meanin as people progress.
The f word that was used to describe gay people is now being used simply as an adjective. Disabilities like autism or re tard is now used in everyday life to describe people. The n word was considered a very racist term but it's now in our everyday language.
Same goes for sexist and racist.
Abusive now I would think is just used to describe anyone that is mean, TBH the word abuse lost its meaning a long one ago.
And it's nothing to get worked over, it's an eventual result.

I do think it's being used way too much,
However like firefly said, it also could be because it's human nature to use an extreme word to exaggerate un-extreme circumstances.
Combine that with the fact that The Cats forum is mostly a debate forum- and when someone is trying to persuade a point- people are more likely to hate a character if they hear the words "neglect", "abuse", "bully", than they are if they hear the words "mean", "distant", or "difficult". The Cats Forum is one giant group of advertisers for or against said character, and in the world of advertisement exaggeration is key to not only catch people attention but to also change their opinion.
And it works brilliantly. Before long, you can't like Millie without supporting abuse. You can't like Ashfur without wanting to murder your ex. You can't like Mapleshade without wanting people dead.
