I'm too lazy to do a real intro/formal rp so basically here's the dealio. It's 24 years after the end of Inheritance. The dragons are alive and well again, and while they mostly stay in the east and away from humans, some have spread back towards the Empire. Most are more-or-less benign and steer clear of humans, though there are occasionally problems with livestock or people being killed by them. Meanwhile in the east, the Dragon Riders have once again risen under the leadership of Eragon and Saphira. They stay mostly as a separate entity from any one empire or group, serving only as peacekeepers, warriors, or mediators when called upon by those in the west. Nowadays, there are Riders from all four races- humans, elves, dwarves, and urgals- and werecats are also welcome to stay with the Riders, though they of course are not Riders themselves.
This roleplay will focus mostly on the Riders (and their dragons) or non-Rider characters who stick around the Riders' headquarters, including werecats, wild dragons, or any non-Rider human/elf/dwarf/urgal who happens to be visiting. Mostly, though, it'll be Riders and dragons. Canon characters, or characters who are related to canon ones, are allowed within reason. So, for example, Katrina & Roran's daughter may be present (or any of the other children they probably had), or perhaps a child of Nasuada, as she probably ended up marrying for political reasons at some point, so any of those would be allowed in the roleplay. Meanwhile, children of characters like Murtagh, Eragon, or Arya are far less likely due to the characters' personalities and (in the case of the latter two) duties as leaders keeping them from settling down. Also, obviously not every relative of a canon character is gonna be a Rider, so again, within reason.
Now, for the Riders themselves. At this point, the Riders of the East (as I'm choosing to call them) have been around for a bit over 20 years. Presumably, one or both of the eggs Eragon left behind at the end of Inheritance hatched after a year or two, marking the first young Riders of the new order. After that, more followed, and there are now probably a couple dozen Riders total, not to mention all the wild dragons who would've hatched after Eragon brought them to the east and, no doubt, their offspring and perhaps offspring's offspring by now. Obviously, though, not all of the 243 eggs from the Vault of Souls would have hatched at once; some may still even be waiting. Of those, most of the 26 bonded eggs have probably hatched to Riders, but again, some may not have. There may also be bonded eggs that were laid by the first generation of dragons (perhaps even Saphira and Firnen had a clutch?), which may or may not have already hatched. The Riders make their home in a place called the Range, at the center of which is the Fortress.
The dynamics of the Riders of the East are fairly simple, partially for convenience and partially due to the fact that the new order is still very small compared to the Riders of old. It consists of a council- including Eragon and Saphira- and some of the first few new Riders to come along after the fall of Galbatorix. They are the Riders who make decisions about where to send eggs and when, as well as when to send Riders to the west and who to send. They are also in charge of training brand-new Riders before they are assigned a personal mentor.
Most Riders are still students to some degree. When they first arrive, they are taught general Rider stuff by the Council and some senior Riders. Once they become more skilled, and discover their magical ability, they are assigned to an older Rider who will train them one-on-one. Most Riders simply hang out around the Range when not needed elsewhere, doing their various chores (hunting, patrolling, training, caring for unhatched eggs, etc.), except for egg-bearers. Egg-bearers are Riders whose job is to carry bonded eggs to the west and bring them between the settlements of the different races in the hopes that it will hatch. If it does, then their job is safely bring the new Rider and hatchling back to the Fortress to be trained.
To more adequately describe the Range and the Fortress:
The Range is set in the open plains of the east. There is nothing but flatlands for miles around, with a few hollows filled with trees or water. The Range itself is a patch of mountains jutting from the landscape, and in roughly the center there is a deep valley. Over the past years, both physical labor and magic have been used to render the outside of the mountains sheer and wall-like so that they may not be climbed, and the gaps filled with stone walls. Therefore, the only way to reach the valley- where the Fortress is located- is to fly.
The Fortress is actually just many buildings and caves built into the sides of the mountains around the valley. The valley, which is grassy and lightly forested, serves as the common gardens for the Riders. It is where most daily activities and training occur, except of course for things like hunting, which require Riders to leave the Range and seek prey in the wilderness beyond. Most of the "buildings" are just open caves built into the mountains, so that they can be easily accessed by dragons. They are created equally by magic and by the claws of dragons, and so a rough, natural feeling is just as prevalent as the feeling of hand-made architecture. The different buildings are as follows:
- The Council Hall is at the north end of the valley, a large, deep room with large wooden doors to allow the Council to meet with people privately. A few large tunnels also lead off from this room, leading to several storage chambers that hold things like the unused Riders' swords or unhatched eggs.
