•♕• hi everyone! this is the bird discussion thread, for, well, bird discussion! talk about anything as long it pertains to birds themselves or bird care/sightings! i love birds with all my tiny withered heart, especially crows.... oh my god i love crows i love them so much i hope everyone knows how amazing and beautiful they are. i want to own birds too, specifically diamond doves and a crow! legally, ofc. i also know too much about bird species and biology, so if anybody wants to upload a pic of a bird they want identifying or questions about birds/baby birds (although if this is the case, please dont rely solely on opinions from us people on a cat forum. google all your questions please it probably gives you faster and more thorough answers than us) please upload a picture or ask!! if you dont have a picture you can describe it as well anyway basically: I LOVE BIRDS AND THIS IS THE THREAD TO TALK ABOUT THEM •♔•

There are a lot of cardinals and woodpeckers around my house. As much as I love birds I am ashamed I don't know much about them. I do know that bluebirds are related to robins. There is also a place near me with a lot of peacocks and white ones.

I love birds so much. I have a feather collection when I find good feathers on the ground and also have a tattoo of a feather.
A couple weekends ago I was driving back home from a trip I took and I saw two bald eagles just sitting in the grass looking quite regal. I was so excited that I phoned my mom just to tell her. On Monday my dad and I were outside and there was a red tailed hawk flying over our house. We watched it for ten minutes.
I really do love birds of prey.

I live right next to a river, so I see geese and mallard ducks all the time. The geese are extremely mean, hissing whenever I walk past, and like if I'm feeding the ducks the geese will come over and chase them away and then hiss at me to make me go away: they don't want the food, they just don't want the ducks to enjoy it. (By the way, if you ever feed ducks at a park or whatever, bread actually really isn't healthy for them: it's like junk food, no nutrients and can cause a condition known as "angel wing". I usually thaw a bag of frozen peas which is one of the things you'll most see recommended and it's easy for ducklings to eat too. Sliced grapes are supposed to be good for them as well.) Here's a photo I took of a pretty leucistic female mallard that showed up this year:

grapes are possibly linked to renal failure in parrots, idk if that would be true for ducks and geese as well? but it seemed maybe hopefully worth mentioning, even though the testing for the link between the food & failure has been pretty minimal. (i'm one of those helicopter mom types ); )
i have three parrots!!!! two budgies and an indian ringneck. my goal is to have a blue fronted amazon one day, they're my absolute favorite and i've no idea why. i just love them, a little collage of some pictures from Google is my computer background. they're great. i've seen a few in person too and they've all been wonderful, even ones coming from bad homes

Here's a photo I took of a pretty leucistic female mallard that showed up this year: oh she is beautiful!! we dont have any "real" ducks where i live, just geese, so i dont have a lot of opprotunity to feed any :/ ive heard about angel wing, though, but not about frozen peas! if i ever get a chance to feed some ducks ill use those! grapes are possibly linked to renal failure in parrots, idk if that would be true for ducks and geese as well? but it seemed maybe hopefully worth mentioning, even though the testing for the link between the food & failure has been pretty minimal.
