Anything with "family-friendly" in it will either be too childish and not entertaining enough or not really for children at all. Examples:
Example A: "We need to make it family-friendly? Let's make it only for toddlers! Of COURSE that's what family-friendly means!" Example B: "We need to make it family-friendly? Here, let's give them this Freemasonry allegory where two of the main characters try to kill themselves! Of COURSE that's what family-friendly means!"

I only liked it because I was given a nice good Serious Version of that stuff and it wasn't really pointed out as "Family-Friendly". Other kids, not so much

Everything"Family-Friendly" are the words of doom. what's your beef with it? It's always goibg to end up with dumbed-down stuff or with stuff children are scared too much by. You have to tell it like it is- if kids are going to get scared or sad over it, make sure that's right there on the box/blurb/who knows what

You have to tell it like it is- if kids are going to get scared or sad over it, make sure that's right there on the box/blurb/who knows what when did kids care about ratings? Probably never. But there's nothing out there that can really be enjoyed by an entire family if it tries too hard to be enjoyable in that sense. Just let it be itself, don't try to dumb it down or brand it with the cursed "Family-Friendly" label without reason. Things are best enjoyed when they aren't subjected to either of those.
