What are some nervous fidgets that often give you away when you lie? Almost everyone has one, though some have gotten better at covering theirs up.
Obviously, there's no way to back these up (but really who cares if you tell people on a cat forum that when you lie you balance your shoes on your head, or something stupid?)
I find myself closing my eyes. That may sound weird, but I don't mean that like it sounds (it's not for extended periods of time or anything). It's more like a long blink (not slow motion, my eyes just stay closed longer.)
What about the rest of you?

I don't lie. But I figure out others lying when they foolishly hint out that they are. I can't quite explain it. Like they say something to defend their lie, but only ends up digging themselves a bigger hole and makes the situation suspicious.

From what I've noticed, I don't really have a tell. I've been great at lying for a while. A friend said I have a silver tongue but I think that's over-exaggerating it xD

Apparently my eyes twitch back and forth and my eyebrows raise just slightly. But that's just what one of my friends said randomly.

Years of storytelling means that I'm actually a pretty good liar. My tells mix in with everything I do on a day to day basis, so I have trouble figuring out if they are tells or just habit, and people around me have the same problem when I ask them, so I honestly don't know. I used to blink a lot when I lied, though, so I suspect I still do that, though to a much lesser extent.

The weird blink, now that I'm aware of it, is much easier to keep from doing. For the most part, I've just gotten so much better at being hard to read.

As soon as I became aware of it, I stopped. It's quite an easy thing to control without seeming strained, which helps, but I hardly ever do it at all now. I doubt most people even notice.

my voice gets higher pitched and quieter and i avoid eye contact (alhough i avoid eye contact when im not lying too...) this is just when im telling total lies. the secret is to tell half truths. youre not really lying to them then, youre just letting them assume something thats not true. i try not to lie though. i swear.

Telling half lies is what I do, as well. I can admit that. It may not be the full truth, but its far more believable. Saying that you stole two cookies (when you stole say, four or five) is less extreme and well get you in, hopefully, less trouble. It also really depends on how you pick your numbers. Saying "well, I only stole one" sounds the most suspicious, because of the low number. Just like how saying that you're 98% certain of something is instantly more trustworthy than 100% or 99% (because 99% just sounds like you're trying to be convincing, but you don't want to be blamed for being wrong, and 100% sounds like you're overly confident.) Or maybe Rust Red over analyzes unimportant things. Who knows?
