While the others talked, Arade stayed silent, merely listening to what they all had to say. He didn’t really care about their opinions on all of this, but he supposed he still had to listen. A shame, that. Sitting there on the edge of the group, he went easily ignored (for that was his grace). Even though he was just as involved as everyone else in this matter, they seemed to have forgotten he was there, which was marvelous, really. He eyed the others of the group carefully, trying to memorize what they looked like. There was one so plain and boring he figured she must have been faking her appearance, which he noted with interest. He didn’t know any of these people personally, and he doubted they were going to make much of an impression on him. The man was not exactly eager to be doing this mission with any others, for drama and noise was just going to slow him down.
Arade crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair, letting out a quiet sigh. No one had told him he was going to be doing anything regarding a bunch of clumsy idiots all lumbering around with him. The bigger the group the more it would make them stick out; this was hardly a group, anyway. It was like army. Too many people with too many names to memorize. Still, he knew just as well as the others that he could not deny his invitation; he stood before the seven kings, for goodness’ sake. That was the only reason he’d agreed to show up. That and the money, which he probably wasn’t going ro be getting thanks to these idiots.

"Tell him to suck it up and make him listen anyways." Serena really did not have the best solutions to situations like that - nor did she have any respect for authority figures, obviously. "But, if something goes wrong, he has three children, and a wife. Surely one out of those four would be sympathetic enough to listen to us, or convince the King to." That was only logical, right? At least one of the five had to be nice. However, if they weren't, they could ask one of the Gracelings the King had taken to let them in. Serena was almost positive they would help them once they knew why they were there.
"Maybe we should just leave him alone if he doesn't want to talk?" Kai suggested after a moment of silence, as he had gone too long without talking, and of course, wanted his opinion to be known. "Even if we force him to talk with us, he probably won't listen. He'll just get mad and kick us out. Actually, we shouldn't even tell him exactly why we're there at first. If we say we were sent by the kings of the Seven Kingdoms to speak with him, he may not want us there. But if we can convince him to let us in and make him like us enough to listen to what we have to say, we can say something about how the Kings are unhappy that he is taking Gracelings. We wouldn't even have to tell him that we work for them."
Serena shook her head violently, looking annoyed with even the suggestion of that. "Lying will get us nowhere," she said harshly...which was ironic, coming from someone who lied to people about what she, or other things, looked like on a daily basis.
"Then I don't know." As Kai began to pout, the other kings murmured to each other, trying to find a halfway decent solution to the problem Mika had brought up - which was actually rather smart of him. The kings hadn't even thought of that.
"If he doesn't want to speak with you, then you will have to come up with something among yourselves. We've told you what you have to do, and we can't help you with small details like that. That's up to you," the Mosean king said, putting an end to that conversation.

Mika frowned a bit at that. Not one of the seven kings could come up with an answer to help them, and not one of the summoned people and Gracelings could agree on a solution. This sounded like something bad waiting to happen. Of course, he was still a bit too intimidated to outright refuse to go... "Well, what can you tell us of the Dells King?" He asked. They'd already said he had a family, but that didn't give much for the man's personality, mental state, or needs. Did they know if there was a reason he was collecting Gracelings?

"The king?" The king from Lienid sighed loudly, shaking his head. "He's...well, interesting." In other words, the Lienid king did not like him, and from the looks of it, none of the other six kings did either. Which was understandable, really, from the description given of him.
"He became king when he was only fifteen, as his father became too ill to rule. There are rumors going around that he poisoned his parents just to be in power," the same king explained. "The kingdom loved him, and still do, as he's constantly kissing up to them. When he was eighteen, he was married off to a lady from Lienid - a graceling, actually. Neither one of them loved each other back then, and they still don't. Because of this, he has lots of affairs, and hits on every girl he crosses paths with, whether they are pretty or ugly, twice his age or half it."
At this, Serena opened her mouth, eyes flashing angrily, but the king interrupted her before she could say anything.
"He has three children, two sons and one daughter. All three of them are gracelings, though as of right now, we are unaware of what their graces are, nor do we know much else about them, including their names. We only know that the daughter is the youngest, and the three were the ones to suggest that their father start taking in gracelings." After that, the Lienid king fell silent, and the Monsean king continued for him.
"He will most likely welcome you with warm, open arms, especially the ladies in this party, whom I suggest try to be as polite as possible - and try to appear as aesthetically pleasing as possible." He glanced at Serena, as the last part would be her job, most likely. "Wait a few days before you say anything about why you're there. Get to know him and his children, and then mentioned the gracelings. However, do not lie and say you were not sent by the kings. If he finds out you were lying, he will be very angry, and kick you out immediately."

"It is not genetic, but saying you've never seen a graceling child with a graceling parent is absurd." The king looked rather irritated by her words, but tried to keep his temper under control. "They are not adopted, but there is a possibility they are not truly the queen and king's children, as the queen has many affairs as well, and any children the king has with anyone else would be passed off as the queen's child, but it doesn't matter. They could still be gracelings even if they were the child of a graceling. It makes no difference."
While the king argued with Ajax, Serena tried to find a way to entertain herself, and decided messing with Camden, whom she had seated herself by, would be the most amusing thing at the moment. So, she moved over in her chair a little, just enough to whisper to him. "Bored?" For a second, she toyed with the idea of messing with him with words rather than with her grace, however, didn't think that would be as amusing. So, she started to change the way Camden saw her, and if he was paying attention, he would notice that she was messing with his mind to do so. That's how her grace worked, and she was actually already tapped into everyone's mind, to change herself into the plain girl. They didn't need to worry, though, since she couldn't see their thoughts or control them. Only change the way they saw something.
After debating with herself for a moment, she decided to go with the creepiest thing she could think up. Her eyes faded to black, blood running from them in steady streams, staining her pure white skin. Her hair grew long and wild, covering everything but the black pits she had as eyes, as well as the creepy smile she wore, displaying razor sharp teeth. Was she really changing her appearance? No. She was simply changing the way Camden saw her - and only Camden. Everyone else would still see her as the brown-haired, boring female she had been before.
{ sorry if I'm power playing ^^ feel free to have him put up a mental barrier against her or something, or just tell me if it bothers you }

Camden let out a small squeak of surprise as the girl changed appearance, the herbalist not expecting it whatsoever. The poor guy hadn't realized she was a graceling, he hadn't really been looking at anyone, keeping his head lowered. This had been only because all these people made him quite uncomfortable, if he was being honest with himself. He lowered his eyes, letting out a soft hiss, "Would you cut that out?" He muttered, looking down at the untouched scone on his plate, a few of his hairs shook loose from his bun, landing infront of his eyes.
Ajax shot an aggravated look at the king. She said nothing, though, deciding it wouldn't be the best idea to argue with the king of Lienid infront of everyone. Instead she took a rather violent bite of her scone, halfway tempted to spit it out towards him, before deciding, once again, it was a horrible idea. She seemed to be full of those tonight.

Arade was quickly growing bored of the others. Even as one of the other men squeaked a complaint, he was bored. All they did was ask questions. Important questions, probably even the same questions he would have been asking, but that was the problem; he wasn’t the one asking them. He’d always kept more to himself, always handled by himself. Never bothered other people, at least when he was given the chance. His grace was to blame for that. In some eyes (and probably just to to those that matched) he had the worst grace of those here. He couldn’t tell exactly what the others were, but he didn’t really care. Well, he did care; he was going to figure them out an manipulate them if he could, but that was besides the point. One of them could breath fire or kill a man by looking at him funny; it didn’t matter. He loved his grace all the same.
He wished there was more of a way to control it (rather than doing everything in his power to call attention to himself) but there was always a part of it there that slipped past him unnoticed. It was presence in near silent footsteps, there in the way he moved so fluidly, quickly, from one spot to another. He sort of hung in shadows and eyes often went right over him, though he was there as plain as day. Not invisible, not hiding, just ignored. Sometimes it was nice, other times it was an irritance. Because of it, when he did talk, he was often kind of loud. He made sure that people were listening. Otherwise, it was almost guaranteed that he would be ignored.
“Great,” Arade commented, leaning forward in his chair. He rested his elbows on his thighs, looking to his right and eyeing his soon to be partners with amusement. After a moment he looked back at all the kings, who seemed surprised and even a little annoyed with themselves for having forgotten he was there. As per usual. No need for them to go beating themselves up over it. “The sooner we start the sooner we get this over with.”

Even if Camden had been looking at her, he wouldn't have known Serena was a graceling. She was changing the way her eyes appeared as well, so no one would know she was not human. That was a thing she did all the time, though, so it was more out of habit than anything.
Cracking a grin, Serena dropped the disguise, returning to her true appearance rather than going back to the fake, boring one. However, Camden was still the only one affected by this. She still didn't trust any of them, and didn't want them to know what she really looked like. She was only showing Camden because she doubted he would be able to do anything to her. He didn't look very intimidating, though there was a chance he would be able to tell the people what she looked like if something happened and they were looking for her...she was pretty easy to identify. She had very distinctive, sharp features that made her stand out. Not necessarily because she was ugly, but not necessarily because she was pretty either. It was really a matter of opinion, as certain people found her hideous, and some found her beautiful. Oh well. Didn't matter to her either way.
"Alright. Sorry." She didn't sound very sorry, because even though she wasn't grinning anymore, she was still amused from his reaction. She was right in assuming he was fun to mess with.
"What's your name?" She hadn't been paying attention if he had ever said it, though she doubted he had. He hadn't spoken the entire time she had been paying attention, after all, and seemed fairly shy. Which she couldn't understand, her herself being anything but shy. In fact, she was very outspoken, obviously. If she was shy, she wouldn't be arguing with the kings.
Like everyone else, Serena hadn't noticed the male graceling, and jumped when he spoke. Oh, right. There were other people there. "You're right," she agreed, turning her attention away from Camden. "Though I suppose we should all become aquatinted first, right? Learn whether we're graceling or human and whatnot." She mainly just wanted to learn about the other people, because even though she switched to her normal appearance, this time allowing everyone to see it, she still didn't trust anyone sitting in the room, and the more information she had about them, the safer she would feel.

Even after all this time, the reactions never got old. Every time, there was always the same startled looks, the same surprise. People jumped. One would think that he’d get tired of it, that it would start to bother him, but no. It was just a tireless source of entertainment. One he would keep using until the day it stopped working; a day that would never come. Even when they knew he was their, the mind had a way of drifting. Even the most attentive people would be surprised when they realized he’d been sitting on their left, not their right. Why, when he moved it was rarely even noticed.
Arade smirked at that, looking down at his feet. There wasn’t anything particularly interesting about his shoes; he was just thinking over what the woman had said. He frowned. It wasn’t a very sensible thing for her to say at all, really, unless she meant in the more 'finding out useful information' sort of way. Otherwise? Well, otherwise it sounded like a waste of time. But he was sure it wasn't other, and it was meant rather like a trap, even if that wasn't the perfect term for what it was. Introductions were a nice and easy way to lure in idiots to sharing their whole life story, yes, but if they were idiots they didn’t matter. He only had time to deal with people smart enough to handle a mission like this without ruining everything. Of course, they’d get to ruin everything later. Now was the time to pick out the idiots so that they could get rid of them early.
He looked at her again. There wasn't even amusement in his eyes anymore. Just a sort of seriousness that managed to mock her without hinting so much as a smile. "I’m sure you can walk and talk at the same time?” he replied, raising an eyebrow.

Serena had to admit, she liked those reactions as well. She enjoyed people's shock when they realized she had been deceiving them, however, she didn't appreciate being on the other side of things. She liked to think of herself as a pretty observant person, so it was insulting to be surprised by that, and she frowned as she looked over the other. He looked older than her, one of the oldest in the group, and was obviously a graceling, from his eyes. At least they were easy to identify. It was just a matter of figuring out his grace now.
"I can, but I'm not so sure other members of our group can handle that," she retorted smoothly, not sure how she felt about this man's attitude quite yet. It was funny, yes, but she also didn't enjoy the feeling of being mocked. "I think we should just go ahead and introduce ourselves now. Because, if I'm being completely honest, I'd like to make sure no one here is a complete and total idiot."
Despite Serena's protests, the kings all seemed to agree with Arade, and one who had not said anything before this point shook his head.
"No. You all should leave now," he murmured as he stood, the other rulers doing the same as they motioned for the group to join them on their feet. "We will go get your supplies. You can introduce yourselves while we are gone." The seven kings walked off, speaking to each other in low voices before separating to fetch things, leaving the others behind to talk among themselves.

Ajax scowled at the seven kings, clearly reluctant to go on this mission. She had jumped slightly when the boy spoke, not realizing that he had been sitting their the entire time. The Lienid citizen studied the others around her, as well. Part of her considered leaving, having no interest whatsoever in this mission. She didn't want to leave the island kingdom she called home, and didn't have much interest in getting to know any of the others around her.
Camden clasped his hands in his lap, not wanting to look at any of them, not quite yet. He didn't trust them, wondering who had bad intentions, convinced that at least one of them would end up staying with this strange new king. The long-haired young man was wondering how he got into this situation in the first place. He was clearly out of his element- one of the few humans on this mission.

It was great to hear that he wasn’t the only one who thought that everyone here was an idiot. Why, Arade could have almost even appreciated her comment, actually, if she hadn’t announced it for all of said idiots to hear. Didn’t she know that the worst thing you could do was make the idiots aware of their idiocracy? Once they finally got it through their thick skulls how dumb they were, they always seemed to make a point in tripping over themselves to prove they weren’t idiots. They dug their own graves with that; only had themselves to blame. A bunch of tripping and stumbling idiots, though, was bound to be inconvenient for everyone involved. Maybe they’d be smart enough to stay out of his way? Then again, they were idiots; being smart was hardly what they did best.
“Suppose they’ll have to get used to it,” he commented.
If they were all unaware idiots, it brought up the question of who had figured out his grace, if anyone had at all. It might not have been that obvious, he realized; he only recognized it because he had to live with it his whole life. Arade considered messing with the rest of the group. He could have told them he had. Of course, that also meant the might rely on him to do something he couldn’t do. While he would have rather not announced the fact that he was even graced at all, here he was, with a god damn purple eye. Didn’t get much more obvious than that. But the fact that she was already disagreeing was not comforting. He did not do well with somebody trying to be in charge of him. He imagined this young lady was not the type for that sort of thing either. He was going to keep an eye on her, because she seemed like the only real problem out of the group. Of course, he was not going to underestimate the power of idiots. He looked away from her as the seven kings stood, instantly standing up himself. He would have much liked an excuse to leave the room, but manners commanded that he stay right here. Great. He didn’t even have to miss out on introductions.

"I guess so." Serena wouldn't be an issue as long as Arade didn't try to control her, because he had assumed right in thinking that she wouldn't appreciate that. She liked being a leader. Now, did she mind sharing the leader position? No. She didn't mind a partnership, but she did mind a dictatorship, and would be quick to leave the group if Arade decided to try and take over. Which would be a shame, really. They were all important to the mission in their own way, and if one person left, the whole thing would kind of crumble apart.
"We should go around and say something about ourselves, right?" Kai suggested, having been silently watching the others. He finally stood, an idiotic grin on his face - he was already way too trusting of these people. "I'm Kai! I'm just a normal human, not a graceling or anything, and I'm pretty sure I'm just here 'cuz I have had a lot of training with different weapons." Weapons which were stashed in the bag sitting by his feet, though he didn't look like the type of person to carry anything sharp and dangerous. He'd trip and impale himself on it.
"Hm." Now that they were actually getting to introductions, Serena didn't seem overly eager to say anything. In fact, she kinda wished she had Arade's grace right now, so she could sneak away. She didn't want anyone to know anything about her. It was too dangerous. So, she took a few quiet steps back, fading back into her original disguise as an almost faceless girl, as if that would help her stay hidden. Which, it kinda did. She was less noticeable than she had been with her normal appearance, at least.

Arade glanced over at the woman who had yet to introduce herself as she stepped back. He was not going to force her to say a word; why, he wouldn’t dream of such a thing. He was guilty of such an act himself many a time in his life. Of course, he was still mildly disapproving of the fact that she had been the one so eager for introductions, yet had so far failed to say a word. He watched her change appearances; by now he’d pretty much figured out the her grace was some sort of shift. He didn’t know quite how she did it yet, but knowing what it was was enough for him. He would have liked a name for her, but he wasn’t going to complain. He’d probably elect annoying nicknames for everyone; they’d just have to respond to them.
His eyes flickered over each person as they spoke, trying to note all the interesting details. The names didn’t really strike him as either important nor interesting, so he didn’t stress it. This would have all been so much easier if they had left already, or gone to help fetch supplies.
The eyes in the group seemed hesitate, but eventually they fell on him. They’d gone in circle, he realized, and that had brought them all to him. It was a nice change of pace, really, to have people paying attention. They had almost looked right over him; he could see it in the expressions on their faces. And really, if Arade had so pleased, he probably could have skipped right over his introduction entirely. But he didn’t. “Arade,” he said, and left it at that. No mention of grace, no mention of abilities. He didn't have to say he was a graceling; anyone who had eyes could see he was graced. Thus, he just left it at his name. That was more than enough information for him. He could have simply not said anything and they probably wouldn’t have notice. That was all he cared to say; could take it or leave it.
The man glanced wordlessly to his left at the shifting graceling woman. He didn't even look mad, didn't even look curious. Just expectant. If he could guilt her into giving them a name (or anything at all, really) today would be a good day.

Mika listened to the conversation go on, falling silent when he couldn't think of any questions or statements to make. As everyone started introducing himself, he hesitated. A brief shyness had come over him and he wasn't quite certain what to do now. These were all people who were either Gracelings or probably quite talented to have been chosen by the Seven for a mission like this. He couldn't help but feel like he'd only been summoned to fill some sort of quota, but still, there had to have been someone more useful than him to pick from. He wasn't a super skilled archer, and god forbid he end up in hand-to-hand combat because that never ended well. He highly doubted they needed him to swim for something. He was alright with languages after spending so much time on the docks, but not to the point where his skill was worth hiring for.
He quietly spoke, wanting his introduction done with, even if no one listened or heard it. "Mika."

"Yes, your knowledge will be helpful. If you were useless, you wouldn't be here," Serena said softly, almost to herself. She was being oddly quiet now, considering she had been pretty much screaming her opinion on everything before. Mostly because she wanted to find out what everyone else's grace was before she said anything else...but no one seemed to be willing to offer up that information, and she sighed loudly.
"You guys aren't very good at listening, are you? If you're a graceling, say so, and actually explain your grace. If you're a human, at least say something about what skills you have that could be helpful. It's easier to figure out who should be doing what when we actually know what everyone is good at." Serena wasn't very good at turning her thoughts into words, so she hoped what she had just said made some sense.
"And I couldn't hear you. At all." She directed this towards Mika, whose words were not loud enough for her to make out.
But hey, even if she was being pushy, she was still talking...that was kind of a good thing. Somewhat? She wasn't huddling in the corner anymore, at least. Doing that wasn't particularly helpful. "Anyways, my name is Serena. I'm a graceling." Which sounded odd, considering at the moment, she just had two brown eyes. "My grace has to do with changing the way people see things. For example, I can change my appearance, but I'm not shapeshifting or anything. Instead, I'm manipulating what people, you guys at the moment, see me as, by accessing that part of your brain. If you had enough practice, you could probably put up some kind of a mind barrier against me, so I could no longer get into your brain and change what things are appearing as to you." It was more complicated than a lot of people's graces, and she still wasn't good at explaining things, so she really was not making a lot of sense.
"If I wanted to, I could make one person in this group see everyone else as dogs or something, but no one else would be affected by it, just that one person. That's because I'm not really changing it, just that one person's way of seeing it." Serena hoped that made a little more sense, but Kai still looked lost. Then again, he was an idiot. With a loud sigh of irritation, she once again dropped her fake appearance, her now different colored eyes shining with annoyance. "Next person now?"

Arade listened carefully as Serena tried to explain her grace. It hadn’t been quite what he had assumed, but he hadn’t been that far off. Not wanting to express his great interest with people’s graces, he didn’t ask questions. At least, not out loud. There were plenty of questions in his head. One’s like how, or what their limits were. Could Serena only change herself to so many people? Had she even tried before? So many questions, and so few means with which to ask them. A shame, that.
The man didn’t say a word. He was perfectly fine with his answer before and he did not plan on changing it. The fact that this one (Ajax, she’d said) could tell if he was lying changed things. How the heck was he supposed to mess with people now? Unless she herself was lying, to trick people into not lying to her. Why, this whole working with other people thing was one big mess; who could they know to trust each other, anyway? One thing was for certain; didn’t like the sound of not being able to lie. Could she tell the truth, or just when it was a lie? Could she tell he was thinking about lying to test it out? Maybe. He didn’t know yet. He’d probably just have to wait and see. Or he could just go for it; if he didn’t like his results (or did something stupid enough to embarrass himself, for that matter) he could easily hang back until everyone forgot about it. “Glad that’s over with,” he said flatly. “Any other unnecessary nonsense?”
With nothing more to say, the man leaned against the wall, crossing his arms and surveying the group. When he wasn’t moving, he served to blend in even more. There was no means of literally disappearing or fading, just… a mental thing, he supposed. They stopped paying attention to him. When he stopped moving, the mind probably focused on him less. It wasn’t always his intention. Sometimes he had to scuff his feet loudly on the group, if he wanted people to even notice he was entering a room. He had to cough to get people’s attention. But right now? He wasn’t trying to blend in, no, but he wasn’t trying to stick out. They wouldn’t figure him out so quickly that way, making it all the more difficult to figure out where he’d gone later. Perfect.

Mika had been about to repeat himself, but other voices began piping up, and it sounded like now introductions were over. Well, they'd asked for Graces, and he didn't have any, so he didn't have anything to say or offer. It wasn't like anything he could do could compete with something like that. Again, he felt like he was only here to carry bags or something. He kept his mouth shut for now, not sure what to do if introductions had ended but they weren't on the move yet.

"You can tell when people are lying?" Like Arade, Serena did not like the sound of that. There were probably limitations to her power, there was a limitation to every grace, but it still made the girl nervous. Would it apply to her grace? She doubted it. She wasn't lying, just messing with the mind, so she didn't think Ajax would automatically know when she was changing something. "Interesting." And very good to know. She'd have to keep a close eye on her - and Ajax was already the person she trusted the least.
When she heard footsteps, Serena's head snapped up, and she sighed in relief when she saw the kings headed towards them, each one holding a bag filled with supplies. Kai went up to grab one, saying a cheerful thank you, while Serena waited for the Monsean king to bring her one, and only gave him a curt nod.
"I don't think that was unnecessary nonsense, but no. There is nothing else we need to discuss, so we can go ahead and leave, if everyone is ready." Serena glanced around the room to make sure no one disagreed, rolling her eyes when she noticed Kai stuffing his bag with the extra scones in the room. Of course. "Also, you didn't tell us your grace." She gave Arade a long stare, clearly not having forgotten him yet. This was only because of her curiosity, though. If he had said his grace, she would completely forget he was there, because she would no longer be wondering something about him, which kept him in her mind.

The kings returned with supplies, and Arade looked them up and down as the passed them out. Everyone else accepted their bags, but much to his amusement it was a long pause before he was handed his. Almost forgotten again; a classic. He gave the king a look of amusement when he took his (just the tiniest one, not wanting to seem all that rude to somebody important. Anyone else was fair game) The man opened his almost immediately to check what was inside. Serena’s voice stopped him, and looked up at her.
“No,” he said in an almost thoughtful manner, giving Serena a look of what seemed to be mock appreciation. “I suppose I didn't. What a shame.” He set his bag down. Of course, he didn’t follow his words up with anything. He didn’t really have a good reason why he didn’t; nothing more than wanting to be difficult, wanting to mess with people. It also bothered him that maybe they’d start paying more attention. He knew that that didn’t change anything, he still blended right in, but even with all that, why risk anything?
He offered the group a signature smug sort of smile as all the eyes eventually settled back to him. He wasn’t sure how he felt, now that he was the center of attention in a group for the first time in a long while. It was a weird feeling, and it wasn’t a good one, but it certainly wasn’t a bad one. If he wanted to, he probably could have done something to take the focus off him. But he didn’t. That was cheating, and it would tip them off, too.

Oh god this man was irritating, and yet amusing at the same time. Serena was use to being the sassy, stubborn person, and didn't like that someone else was slowly starting to fill that role. However, she also found his attitude very funny, and the fact that she didn't immediately hate him just made her more annoyed. "Would you feel obligated to share it any time soon? Or do you need more convincing?" She asked in a calm tone, though she was struggling to do so, and looked around for something to distract her from her anger. She decided on the untouched wine that had been given to her, mainly for laughs. The Monsean king knew she had a bad reaction to alcohol, so had probably been wanting to see her embarrass herself in front of everyone. The thought almost made her put it back down, but she downed all the wine in the glass in one gulp, before she could stop herself. At least it was a distraction.
"I thought we were leaving?" Now Kai was starting to get irritated as well. He wanted to get going before nightfall, but everyone else seemed content to stand around and talk for hours. He was too impatient for this, and was now beginning to pout childishly. Because that's pretty much what he was. A child. "We should go before it gets dark."
"We are!" Serena snapped a reply, grabbing her bag and turning to the others. "Everyone better be ready, because we're going now."

“Would you prefer I told you I was graced with attitude?” Arade asked. He got a feeling that there was going to be quite a bit of banter between himself and Serena. If that was a good thing, of course, was a matter up for debate. He shook his head when she went for the wine; he hadn’t touched his. He’d been hoping to have all his wits about about him. While a little bit to drink surely wouldn’t hurt, the man was not taking any chances. Maybe he was being too careful, heck, stepping over the line towards ridiculous, but that was simply what he did best. Other than blending in, that is. That he did best of all; he’d always been that way. Wouldn’t change it for the world, really. Didn’t need a whole world, anyway. Just his; the small little one that it was.
One of the other men (Kai, was it? Kyle? Something like that?) mentioned leaving and he instantly found himself in agreement. The sooner they got out of there the better. It would be getting dark soon, and he would have much liked to have gotten out before he couldn’t see in front of him. He went to pick up his bag again, waiting for the others expectantly. Of course, when it got dark, noticing him was going to be an even bigger pain. He couldn't wait to see their reactions. Why, Arade was already placing mental bets on how long it would take them to figure him out. Those who figured it out the fastest? Well, he would be able to separate the few wise souls from the rest of the idiots, now wouldn't he?

Camden watched the tension between Arade and Serena, trying to keep the amusement off of his face. They seemed to be of the same breed of people, which would make this adventure rather... interesting. He glanced at Kai, slipping over next to the other human, hoping that he would be able to make some connection on this journey. He peered into his bad, relieved that his king had packed many herbs and several vials and other assorted items he needed to make his mixtures.
Ajax hoisted her bag over her shoulder and followed the others, trying her best to hold her tongue with the others. She glanced around, trying to figure out what this boy... Trade was it? What his grace was... She narrowed his eyes at him, surprised that he was rather hard to focus on and read. The others it was easy. With one look at Camden she could tell how nervous he was and how much he wanted to just go home. But with Arade....

"No, but I wouldn't be surprised. You seem to have quite the attitude, after all." Serena was forcing back a smile, because however frustrating it was, it was also fun to have someone who didn't get angry over her every word. So, she decided to drop it. He clearly wasn't going to say, and it wasn't worth getting mad over. She would just have to figure it out herself. She already had a few ideas of what it might be anyways, she would just have to think on it more. "No objections? Alright then. Let's go." She seemed more than happy to take over the role of the leader, and was very pleased that no one was fighting her on this. She didn't like having other people try and take that position from her. She could handle sharing power, preferred it actually, but the second someone tried to flat out /take/ it...well, she didn't respond well.
"Oh, hi?" Kai seemed rather confused when Camden moved to stand next to him, as he hadn't been expecting anyone to come anywhere near him. He was mildly intimidating, and if people weren't scared of him, they were annoyed by him. Still, he wasn't complaining. It would be nice to have a friend, especially a human one. Gracelings unnerved him, and he couldn't even look them in the eye. The two different colors were unsettling to him. "Camden, right?"
Serena opened her mouth to snap at the two talking, but decided against it, instead turning to leave the palace, clearly expecting everyone else to follow.

“Flattered, really,” he said with a low, sweeping bow, and Arade let her drop it. He wasn’t about to argue on just anything; there wasn’t a point. While he was not going to get excited about working in a group, he saw no point in making them hate his guts. Mildly bothering people would be good enough for him, anyway. Never anything more than that; he didn’t want to be a downright pain. Well, he kinda did, but not too much so. The man swung his bag over his shoulder, looking behind him expectantly as people began to actually talk. Joy, people were making friends already. He couldn’t say the same for himself.
He ran over the contents of his bag again in his head. Nothing particularly useful for him specifically, which would make it all the more annoying for his group to figure him out. There was a long knife he could hardly use and a few books on some of the nonsense they’d be dealing with. Language, culture, that sort of thing. He doubted they actually held that much useful information. He sighed. It looked like he was stuck carrying all the stuff the other people didn’t need. Just stuff for diplomatic purposes. Oh, and two jars of what seemed to be green and brown paint, because he obviously couldn’t sneak around without camouflage. Heh. They didn’t seem to realize that wasn’t how his grace worked at all, but he didn’t blame whoever had packed it; he hadn’t really explained what he did. Though these might help the others if they needed to be stealthy.
He stood beside (and slightly behind) Serena, looking at the group expectantly. He wasn’t going to fight her for a position as a leader, but he much prefered having two people at the head of a group, rather than one. One person was more demanding, more strict, and there was bound to be more fights. Even if he didn’t expect that of her, it was still just a much better bet to handle it like this. Of course, Arade was going to be respectful about it. ...Hopefully.

"You should be." Serena managed to smother her smile with a scowl she directed his way, turning away before she could start laughing again. She really didn't like showing anything but annoyance or anger. It made people think she actually liked them, and she certainly didn't want people believing that, because ninety percent of the time, they were wrong. "Now quit fooling around, and come on. We need to find a place to stay for the night."
That was her main concern at the moment. Where were they suppose to sleep? They could always sleep out in the open, but that was a little bit too dangerous for her liking. She couldn't manipulate people when she was sleeping, so it wasn't like she could make people think they were something else while they were resting. Which was a shame, really, since it meant she might have to go ahead and spend a bit of the small amount of money they had been given on a motel room. Perhaps she could disguise them and they could sneak in? But they wouldn't know which rooms were open, and might go into a room with people already in it. She also wasn't sure what kind of person she would be dealing with, but doubted anyone who ran a half-decent inn was dumb enough to fall for her whole "pretty innocent girl who needs a place to stay" act. Damn it all.
Snapping out of her thoughts, Serena glanced over at Arade, not at all surprised to see him there. He acted just as bossy as she did, so it made sense that he would want to be at the head of the group as well. And since she didn't hate him yet, she decided to allow it, until he gave her a reason not to. "What did they give you? Anything useful?" She asked curiously, as she started to dig through her own bag. She was pretty sure the makeup she was given was meant to troll her, and she rolled her eyes at that, but other than the useless products, everything else was pretty okay.
