I very literally have no idea what to put here.
I suppose I'll start with my name. I was born with the name Rise (ree-zay), but since discovering my gender orientation of simply Agender, I've chosen the less-gender specific name of Rin.
I was born in Japan. My father was an American and my mother was Japanese and German. I was raised in my birth country until I was about six, and then I moved here to Portland, Oregon. I was homeschooled until I was 10, and I am currently 15. My mother continued to teach me Japanese, but I feel more comfortable with English now.
Maybe I should tell a story to make this seem not so short?
When I came to America and had to start with school again, kids kept calling me Rise (like rising up), and it used to make me so angry that I once lectured a guy in Japanese about how rude he was being. He didn't understand, but my message must have been too harsh, because for the rest of the year he wouldn't talk to me. It happened again when I went by Rin, and everybody said "Hey, Erin!" but I was and am too shy to tell anybody that Rin was my name and not just a short version of Erin.

Welcome to the new forums! While there aren't rules against the sharing of personal information, I would still advise caution If you're interested in speaking Japanese on the forums, there's an interest check for a non-English subforum. Give it a look, maybe? Especially if it's implemented - many people are learning new languages and would probably love some help! I hope you enjoy your time here! And I hope you get the courage to correct people with your name eventually Rin is a lovely name, and you should be called your actual name instead of one from a misunderstanding.
