I've been reading up on it lately, and I see that a lot of the symptoms are in my life.
medlineplus.gov/ency/article/000942.htm
I read through this article (along with several others), and saw myself in a lot of it... I'm very strict and orderly, I'm an overachiever (I have to get either an A- or A in all my classes, otherwise I feel like a failure), I often get over-devoted to things, I hate to throw stuff away, and I struggle with generosity, struggle to show affection, etc. A lot of these things cause me to have anxiety.
I've never had it diagnosed by a professional, but I'm wondering if I should talk to my parents about it. Help? I've never really gone through anything like this before.

i think you should absolutely talk to your parents about it, since that's the easiest way to see a professional, or, if you'd rather not, speak to someone about what you're feeling. if your parents are the kind to take your thoughts seriously, the worst that could happen is that you see a professional and they tell you that it's not ocpd. even if it isn't, they'll probably offer you help with the anxiety you're experiencing. obviously all parents are different, but if you think your parents will offer to help you, i think you should ask for it.

The thing is, I really don't want to talk to my parents about it, since I always just have this fear about it. I don't know why, but talking about it with anyone just gives me extreme anxiety. Thinking about it right now is making me feel really anxious as well. I mean, my mom has told me numerous times that I can open up to her if I need to, but I am struggling right now thinking about it. When I saw that someone posted, I literally was about to cry because I thought someone was coming to tear me down (and seeing your words helped a bit). I don't know, I just struggle with thoughts of being judged really badly, and being insecure about talking about things in my life.
I'm considering talking to my friends first. I'm usually able to stay pretty calm around them, but even then, I still feel like I'm going to be judged (even though they're my good friends). I don't know, I just hate talking about how I feel face-to-face with other people, I guess you could say. Talking about it now is better, since I don't have to look at somebody while talking, so I can't really watch body language/facial expressions. It's hard to explain
//sorry about how long this was

I can understand talking to your parents being a difficult thing, I have a hard time talking to mine about my mental state as well. If you think talking to your friends would be easier, then start there I think. Or, if that's too difficult too, maybe see if you can go straight to a professional for help? I'm not sure how things work where you are, or how old you have to be to get in contact with someone yourself, but if that's an option you might want to consider it.
If you'd like to talk about it with someone you can't see, since you said that was easier, you can feel free to PM me to discuss it more in depth. I'd be happy to do what I can to help you figure out what you want to do, if you'd like the help.

I think I'll talk with some of my friends (I'll be seeing them Wednesday), or maybe just finding someone else to chat with. This has really helped me a lot, by the way; thanks for talking to me.
I'll definitely consider it. I'm probably going to get off now to take a break and get some work on, but I'll make sure to PM you if I want to discuss it more. i think i have ocpd too, but i have no way to find a psychiatrist to get diagnosed Have you tried doing a search on the Internet for psychiatrists in your area?
