《 oh gee idk if I can handle a love triangle at the moment I am currently in the process of reading a very brutal one in something for school
Currently I think I’m leaning more towards Nerys x Rei & Atticus x Heulfryn but I prefer to take romance a lil slow so plenty of time to make those decisions right?
Also hats off to Will for his EXCELLENT skills with the ladies this kid needs help tbh 》
By that point, all of them were eager to get away from the chaos and disarray of the Selene, and the rest of this decaying neighbourhood. They followed after Sybil - Will following a few steps behind with his usual easy stride - long, loose-limbed steps portraying a sort of casual confidence, laid back - although he’d be as quick as any of them to draw his weapon when it came down to it. Heulfryn stuck to to back, where he could observe each of them, his movements made with a practiced sort of elegance, precision. Nerys on the other hand, moved with a sureness in her step, a certain kind of swagger - sea legs aside. The three remained mostly quiet - surprisingly enough for Will, who was enjoying hearing Remus and Sybil’s banter, and of course waiting for the opportunity for one of his ever necessary comments.
Gansey grinned at the mention of dogs. “Oh, I do love dogs, you know,” he told them. “Eliza and I had one when we were younger. His name was Aloysius. Now, Aloysius was likely the fattest, laziest little lap dog the world had ever seen - but, young me fancied him a hunting dog, so I would take the thing out and try to teach him to run and chase and all that.” Will continued, not bothering to see if anyone was really listening. “He wasn’t very cooperative; though I do think the smug little beast enjoyed watching me run around demonstrating things. Eliza certainly laughed herself hoarse - and then got the tiny traitor to do all sorts of tricks for her.” He shot Sybil a crooked smile, opening his mouth to continue on or maybe to make some sort of related comment, when he caught the sound of her own mutterings. And reconsidered whatever he was about to say, apparently. In reality, he’d lost track of whatever it was he was about to say, because now his mind was a little overtaken by her statement. Next thing you know he’ll be asking me for courtship.
Processing…
Processing failed.
What did that mean?! It was just a sarcastic comment, right? Right. But… Was it ever just a sarcastic comment when it came to women? Will had no idea; Eliza had once told him something similar - sarcastically, of course, just to make things easier for him to understand. Will hadn't ever really considered a formal courtship, since he'd pretty much vowed to himself not to let himself be attached to anyone in a way that meant they could be used against him while he was with the Wolves. And the concept… It was a little mind-boggling. Especially in relation to Sybil; courtship meant flowers and promenades and gentle things - things he couldn't imagine Sybil doing, least of all with him. Will blinked as he heard someone respond, looking over to see one of the newcomers replying to her. The pretty one, Eius, giving her a charming smile and - wait, what did he just say to her? Something in Will’s gut clenched a little, and he suddenly had to look away.
They finally reached the carriage after their brief episode of wandering, and Nerys gave it an approving nod. A stolen royal carriage, converted for the style of the Crows? Not bad at all. She followed the others aboard, taking the seat near the front beside the one known as Sybil Rye. Her eyes wandered, taking in the details of the carriage. It had been a while since she'd last travelled in one like this, spacious and ornate. There was no need for carriages at sea, and she hadn't usually had to go far inland on her stops on land.
She was still trying to decide what she thought of her potential allies - obviously they had some skill, if they could steal a royal carriage. Although their representatives were… odd. Not what she'd expect of a notorious gang. She could still hear the tall one chattering on - now to Rei, who had unfortunately gotten stuck beside him. Nerys felt a momentary bit of pity for the other girl. “You know, you and Hawkins really could be related,” he was saying. “You know, with the red hair and the blue eyes - you guys aren't related, right?” Nerys's eyes skipped to her other two recruits, Eius and Heulfryn, the latter of whom did not look particularly happy about sitting next to the prior. She wondered vaguely what had gotten Mr.Cheekbones all grumpy about the matter, and whether it had to do with what had kept them in the tavern.
Heulfryn, it seemed, was perfectly content with staring out the window for the duration of the carriage ride. He wasn't very pleased with the prospect of working with the Crows, but… he would consider it. Just as he would consider leaving. He hadn't yet decided what he was going to do - but he did know the boy next to him should have nothing to do with it either way. And seeing as he had no desire to have someone fail at their job and compromise the mission, the gears in his head were already turning on how to get the boy to walk away from the job. He was fairly settled on good old fashioned intimidation as he absently listened to the others conversations. Gansey chuckled at Remus’s question. “I'm sure good ol’ Benny’s made sure of that, although I wouldn't say it's been the best of days for the old chum. And I'd say he owes us far more than a suit for all the trouble he's worth, the slimy fellow.”

[ Right no love triangles do you need emergency love triangle aid]
[ Right, take it slow and make those smart choices but now I can't stop thinking about the idea of ....Atryn and Nei ] [ will you poor boy ]
"You're right for once Gansey. You um Eius right? Remind me that I have a steel bat in my office that will come in handy" Remus said, snapping his fingers to Atticus who blanked slightly at the words but then nodded. Knowing Atticus he probably would remind Remus he had a steel bat in his office for....what he could guess was a bloody beating. Remus sat himself in the carriage with the rest, the largeness of the carriage sat everyone comfortingly, but Rei looked about ready to sock poor mister talks a lot. "I am positive...unless he was born in Grifthelm....can you scoot over you smell like a flower girl barfed on you" She muttered. Now that sparked some interest from Remus and Atticus- Atticus was wondering what that smell was. "You are from Grifthelm? As in Grifthelm in Yokai?" Remus pushed a little, looking at the girl with a raised eyebrow. "Yes..." Rei said as she tried to make some room for her between herself and the chatty tall man. Remus raised his brows before smiling, a sparkle coming to his eyes as he looked at the girl. Interesting indeed...Grifthelm was in the North. The very north, as in cold winds and snow for months even into summer. Not to mention the place was known for it's dark lands and certain crime syndicates that take host there. Which was a plus for Remus. He needed that sort of info...and it could prove useful in the future. The near future if things went his way. Atticus though just took note of how much he didn't know Rei. At all. He said they were friends but...how can they be when he barely knew Rei Dorn?
He wished he could ask her but he was stuck next to Cheekbones McGee. How lovely.
Remus knocked on the roof of the carriage and smiled when the wheels began to turn. "It won't take long to get there. Our base is-" Remus began but his little red head twin interrupted. "Is the biggest gambling unit in all of Noridi...the Selunti in the Barx district" Rei muttered, unfortunately her info obtained strictly through her guards slipping past her lips. Atticus felt his chest tighten for a second and thought everything just went down the drain. Remus only grinned while looking towards the girl as if impressed. "It's obvious really...if you trace back all your activity to one spot it would be the Selunti." She went on to say, and Atticus silently urged her to shut up. Stop being a Captain for 20 seconds He thought, tapping his fingers on his pants leg before Hawkins let out a sharp laugh. "Smart one! I'm glad to know that intelligence runs in the genes of all red heads" Remus said with a smile.
"You aren't really a red head at least not that sha-"
"Hush Rye"
Sybil just rolled her eyes to Remus before letting out a long sigh, only shifting beside the pirate girl so she could cross her leg over her knee. "Anyway once we arrive I'm sure you will enjoy it there. It runs late at the day and most of the night...there is plenty of space as well. But first we handle the important stuff, and also the little event I left running" Remus said. Sybil could only smile and a sparkle came to her eyes thus giving Atticus a clear reason to not be happy about what this event was about. The remainder of the ride was mostly chatter talk between well the two most prominent talkers....and a innocent little Prince. (A:"I enjoy that kind of sport too but less bloody") Rei kept to herself of course and Sybil sometimes exchanged some banter but other wise looked a little off. Probably by the words Atticus said to her before. It's silly but the idea of a courtship was....interesting. All she knew was if it did come down to a courtship with Will...she wouldn't say no. She might be...up to it er well she didn't know. That dumb little Eius kid got into her head. Maybe he was more then a smile and nice hair, maybe he was a little snake whispering in peoples ears. Who knew, but the ride to Selunti wasn't long at all. In fact before they knew it they were already pushing out of the carriage and before the-oh
Atticus looked up at the large building and nearly went back into the carriage to tell them they weren't in the right district anymore. Noridi was made up of 3 districts mainly, the poorest being the Brax district then Utai for the more middle class and then of course Royna for the richest and the royal family. And this building here...didn't look like it belonged in the Brax district, it looked like it belonged with the Royna. It was large and built with stone and busting with fauna and life essentially. It looked clean and the smell didn't really kill his nose in fact it reminded him of freshly cleaned wood with the fancy polish. "Beauty isn't she? I got her for a swift deal of just a few heads and a guys heart" Remus said when nudging past Atticus to the outside, Sybil following after to head inside but was swiftly grabbed by the elbow before getting past. "Ah ah ah. We have guests, I don't need you vanishing on us. Be social for a bit longer" He said, those blue eyes saying something completely different. "Maybe you can take some of them on a tour? Maybe you can take them to meet Benny?" Remus said, sounding more like a father to the girl then her second boss.
"I thought that was what you and Gansey were for?" Sybil barked, her lip sticking out slightly in a pout. "Well aren't we suppose to be getting to know each other or something....?" Atticus asked from behind Remus, not entirely listening to everyone else around him considering Rei was still stuck with Will Talky talk. "Exactly Eius. Sybil you need to warm up to our new partners so you gonna stay right by their sides. You and Gansey can handle this while I handle....Bob" Remus said with the most disgusted look on his face when uttering that name. "I'm sorry - Bob?" Rei asked as she slipped out of the carriage, the large building loomed over her looking so nice and inviting on the outside but really held about 20 years worth of evidence inside those stone walls. Not to mention she could see the golden wallpapering from outside, the expensive curtains fluttering in the breeze. "Yes Bob...as in Bob who thought it would be funny to rat out some details to his little friends about our dealings in the basement...so now Bob gets to spend a lot of time in the basement" Remus said, those icy eyes suddenly turning from happy and friendly to threatening and chilling.
"In a sac...blindfolded"
"Gagged too by one of Benny's old socks. Anyway, everyone inside! I want to get this done and over with before the night begins cause that's when none of us will be able to talk really. Will still needs to work on the numbers from last night...." Remus urged on, casting a look toward Will. "Pictures and squiggles do not count as added profit Gansey, plus that's expensive ink mind you" Remus scolded poor Will as he led the way inside, taking out a single silver key to unlock the large oak doors. Sybil let out a little snort at the statement, her lips pulling into a smile. Rei rolled her eyes, lingering back slightly with the other 'newbies' of this crew an-no. No she wasn't a newbie. She had to keep reminding herself she was not actually a thief or assassin, and that shew as here for business. Which Atticus seemed to forget considering he was right up front with the others, huge eyes in awe as they went in. She almost grabbed him by the hair to pull him back. "But welcome to Selunti. A second home if you all wish, I bet He-...Heulfryn? I would think about changing your name - But! We are magic friendly, very magic friendly indeed we have a variety of wizards, elves and fae running about."
The inside was bigger then Atticus expected, walls pressed with golden wallpaper with engravings of what looked like birds in flight but nothing too fancy. The red carpet was dark like spilled blood and the curtains were black with gold designs lining the bottom. But large chandeliers were strapped to the ceilings, the large hallway leading directly to a even large circler room. A spiral staircase was located towards the back to a visible balcony and large gambling tables were spread into a semi circle in the center of this room. A front desk was presented in the- well front. Branching off they could see other rooms separated only by thick drapes pulled back by golden ropes. There was private gambling rooms, pool tables and card rooms. It was....impressive. Why if Rei wasn't captain of the guard she would be asking where this man got the money for this. Atticus pulled back from the front for a moment where Remus and Sybil and Will were, to where the others were. Frankly he didn't want to ask Rei if she thought this place was cool cause she's so grumpy and stuff. And Heulfryn well one look at him and Atticus just ended up looking away when he realized he was entranced by those bloody cheeks.
"It's really impressive don't you think?" He asked Nerys, the boss lady to this group. "I mean...the taste is great. Looks expensive so that means they have the money...." Atticus asked wondering who exactly decorated this place....but take a wild guess really.
Alright it was Tina Flouer.

omg yes it's brutal. there is not plot. it's just love triangle - a really stale one at that. I know like now I'm actually really excited for these ships
Will needs some help here. Needs romantic advice. Also a slap in the face 'cause he clueless to his own feelings.
Nerys let out a low whistle as the carriage rolled to a stop in front of Selunti. She’d been hoping they’d have something to show for, but she had to admit, claims to being one of the toughest gangs in Noridi or not, she hadn’t been so sure. But this… This was impressive. Opulence was strung at every corner, every hem of every curtain. Golden wallpaper inlaid with designs of birds in flight - for the Crows, of course - the carpets beneath their feet as they walked in rich and red, the colour as deep and bright as the ruby tucked away in her pouch, as what it was meant to signify. Nerys thought she would always prefer the rough sway of the sea, but she had to admit she wouldn’t mind spending her time ashore in a place like this - were it not in Noridi, the heart of the country she’d sworn to burn to the ground, that it’s.
The luxury had less of an effect on Heulfryn. Unsurprising, since it seemed that everything had less of an effect on him. Perhaps it was because he had experienced such things so many times before in his long lifetime - the gambling hall was not so breathtaking when one had ventured through the ancient courts of the Fae, visited the Elven realms, castles far older and grander than that of this country. Or maybe, more accurately, because he’d already been to Selunti a number of times.
Will took a deep breath as he stepped through the door, surprised once again by how at home he felt coming back to this place. He’d only been here a little over a month, and had only decided he was staying a few weeks ago but… It felt like home. Somehow. He knew many members of the Crows were still wary of him, mistrusting, and maybe they always would. He didn’t know, but he figured it might if he gave it time. Enough time for him to earn enough money to get him and Eliza out of Noridi, to head south to the city of Karstadt, where Will could study at the university and his sister could finally put the words dancing around her head down on paper.
He let out a sheepish chuckle at the mention of the scribbles and wasted ink. And the work he was behind on. All a product of a visit from a certain freckled blonde. “Apologies, Hawkins. I’ll try to keep my artwork - which is lovely, in my humblest opinion - to a minimum from now on,” he replied, smiling a little guiltily. He didn’t so much as glance at Sybil. Will cleared his throat, turning to address the others. “Right, a tour. I’d be delighted. Well, welcome to Selunti, pride of us Crows and the jewel of the Brax district. Our main floor, is, of course, the centre of business, whereas upstairs is mostly our residential areas - and the basement, of course, is off limits to visitors, as you might have interpreted from Remus’s description.” He grinned, only now shooting Sybil a look, something a little cheeky in his expression. “Now, if you’ll Sybil, darling, and myself…” He turned, heading down the main hall towards the largest room, where public games took place when evening came around. It was the centre of Selunti, the hub of activity, which had a habit of becoming rather rambunctious. Off to the side were the private rooms, hidden from prying eyes by rich black curtains.
Nerys cast a sidelong glance at Eius, grinning. “Not too bad. Although I hope these rooms upstairs are just as nice as they say,” She replied, then let out a hopeful sigh. “I’d kill for a hot bath.” And, honestly? She probably would.
The newcomers followed along, and as usual Heulfryn scanned everything as they passed. It was just getting on into the evening, when the hall would open for business and be flooded with rich folk and vagrants alike, all hoping to walk away from the table with a few extra coins in their pockets. Around them, Crows were rushing around in their crisp black and white attire, busy getting things ready for the upcoming evening. He spied a girl rushing down the stairs, dressed in a crisp white blouse under a black vest, tucked into simple but elegant black skirts - a server’s clothes, or perhaps taking a shift dealing cards at the tables. She had a book tucked under her arm, and came to a stop as she spotted their odd group. Her face broke into a smile. “You’re back - and successfully, I see.”
“Ah! Sister, dearest,” said the former Prince of the Wolves. He turned back to address the group, gesturing to the new girl. “Allow me to introduce to you Elizabeth Gansey, otherwise known as my sister or the lesser Gansey-”
“I would be careful what you say, William, or someone might start sharing some insightful stories.” the girl cut in, fixing him with a look known to bring down mortal men by the thousands. Heulfryn, luckily, was not mortal, and thus unaffected other than being slightly amused by the sobered expression that befell the elder Gansey sibling. For he could see clearly now that they were siblings - with the same pale, freckled skin, tall, thin build and softly curling golden brown hair - which the girl had in two long plaits, a couple of strands already having snuck loose around her face. She smiled at the group assembled, the soft and polite counterpart to her brother’s boyish grin. “Call me Eliza. If any of you need anything, please feel free to come and ask. Oh, Sybil, I finished the book,” Eliza turned, dropping her voice to chat quietly with her friend.
Will cleared his throat, once again regain his easy demeanor. “Well, if we could get on with the tour then-”
“Tour?” Eliza’s head shot up.
“Yes, tour, I’m showing the newbies-”
“You’re showing the newcomers around? Oh, dear, I’m sorry,” she turned to look at the group of unfamiliars. “He is always this obnoxious, if you’ve been wondering. Sybil and I will show you around. Get you all settled in - I assume you all are staying with us, for the time being?” She looked to Will and Sybil for confirmation. “Either way, we have some open rooms on the second floor you all are welcome to while you’re working with us.”

[ don't worry help will be there shortly just try and get through the stale love triangle ] [ I'm am now ready for all the ships to sail. But Will needs to get his feelings in order. Boi ] [ He needs all the advice. And a couple of slaps ]
[ okay this Halloween thing on here has sucked me in I can't stop looking for dumb virtual candy if it means not doing math then why not ] [ ELIZA the girl is baccckkkkk ]
Sybil lifted an eyebrow towards the two talking men, looking at Will as he spoke and opened her mouth to speak with her hand reaching out for a moment and a ghost of a tug on his sleeve meaning to catch his attention but Remus was already talking. Her hand fell away just as quick, her eyes adverting to the ground as Remus turned toward the group, slipping off his suit jacket, revealing the classy emerald vest with golden buttons underneath. And that was his casual wear.
"But! Yes, take them around. Show them the good parts of this place. I'll be back to join you all as soon as I handle Bob" Remus said and smiled at the group, splitting up from them and snapping his fingers toward two larger crows who were setting up a cards table. They glanced at each other with a small smirk playing on their lips before dropping what they were doing and following the red head towards the back basement door. Rei was half tempted to follow after just so she could spring up and shout HA caught you red handed! But then again what would she do after? Ask him to hold out his hands while she cuffed them? She was a short red head with only a really nice sword to impress.
"Are you gonna use the bat?" Atticus called after Remus, Rei pinching the bridge of her nose when Remus let out a soft Oh I forgot about that! "What is wrong with you?" Rei said, looking at the all too innocent face of Atticus who just thought he was helping out...helping out a criminal beat another man to near death with a bat. Atticus shrugged but tuned in more on what the tall lankey man was saying and Nerys. "By the size of the place, the rooms have to be a reasonable size...I think any place that doesn't smell like rotting fish can be pretty hopeful" Atticus said to the pirate girl, slipping his hands into his pockets.
"I wouldn't mind for a bath either....or food for that matter" Rei muttered standing more behind Atticus and the pirate girl but then again not really. It's like how you awkwardly walk down a hall that usually only lets two people walk side by side and you got that awkward third friend. "Mostly food"
He wasn't going to lie, this place was fancy. Super fancy, it looked better then most of the rooms in the royal palace. The royal palace was filled with nice stuff sure but that was all old stuff that has been there forever and then some. But here it looked all brand new, like they just bought the wallpaper and the rugs and the chandeliers. A place this size had to be kept running on a seriously high budget which begs the question of how much this place truly earns per night. He even ended up stopping a few times, bumping into Heulfryn once or twice because of his staring. "Uh...sorr- hey!" Atticus tried to apologize to the magic cheekbone man but Rei just swiftly grabbed him by the collar of his shirt to pull him forward, keeping with the group. "Stop staring and actually pay attention you nimrod" She said, her words cutting into Atticus as more of I'm in charge and you are a dolt and Don't make friends, don't talk to magic boy toy as well. "You gotta be so rough" Atticus grunted as he wriggled her fingers from his shirt collar, only frowning when he spotted the tiny turn in her lips. Was she enjoying this? That she could tug and pull him around as much as she could only because they weren't in Prince and Captain mode? The nerve.
He tuned into the conversation he had been ignoring moments ago, now a young girl had joined them in a formal attire of black and white. "Go on William, darling" Sybil said with a mocking tone to Will's words, rolling her eyes so dramatically she even made a little face to match that crinkled her nose and everything. But that face soon turned sweet when she saw the girl with the matching traits as Will, "Please share those stories, I would loveeeeee to hear about them. I could use them to my advantage" Sybil said to the Gansey siblings, a smile coming across her face that didn't spell sarcasm or annoyance. Rather a pleasant smile that was rare to see on her face now a days. "Did you like it? Better yet who's your favorite character? Barnaby or Winslow? Or maybe Tula?" Sybil asked Eliza, her eyes lighting up slightly at the talk of books. Since the Gansey's had come to join the Ravens, Sybil had thought this was all gonna be a big turn down hill for her but rather it had a up side. Will's sister was about the closest friend she had in this group and the only other person who enjoyed reading....probably because she was one of the few that could read. Eliza's the only other person, additionally, that gets to come into Sybil's little library. Anyone else usually gets smacked really hard with a thick book....or a brick whichever she grabs first.
"I was worried for a minute, if I had to spend a tour with Gansey I'm sure we would be here all day. He would explain every knickknack on the wall for hours when I can do it simply. See this?" Sybil said, pointing her finger toward a painting on the wall. "We got that painting from a dude and it's a painting of another dude with birds. Cool right?" Sybil said, Atticus walking up to the portrait for a moment to look at the work before pointing out some odd dark red blotches. "What's with the random red paint?"
"Oh? That's not paint, that's blood."
"Excuse me?"
"Extra cool right?" Sybil said with a smile, looking at the painting like it was of a man and his family holding hands. While Atticus looked at it with a slight horrified look on his face, edging back toward his group of friends. Or buddies?....Day time pals. "Oh! Eliza that reminds me you have to know our new friends names. The pirate gal is Nerys, frowny face #1 is Rei, the pretty boy with the black hair is Eius and then Cheekbones here otherwise known as Frowny face #2 is Heulfryn." Sybil said, waving her hands toward Nerys and Rei then to Atticus and Heulfryn in turn. "Cheekbones is a magic wielder too...I think Norburn would like him. He gets so lonely" Sybil said. Norburn was the only other magical that chose to stay with the Crows willingly, being half elf and half troll. "And-" Sybil meant to continue but was shortly interrupted by the faint sound of yelling and thumping coming from behind them. "That Bob?" Rei asked, tipping her head slightly as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Yeah....I hope he doesn't bleed too much....I don't want to clean up the floors tonight" Sybil muttered with a frown.
"Right...." Rei said and tried not to cringe. Honestly she didn't want to think about how much this Bob was bleeding right now. Left in a sac for hours only to be beaten over and over again in some cellar. It disturbed her....but not as much as the need to eat. Her eyes lingered toward the open windows, seeing the sky has dimmed since arriving. They had been gone for hours...and if the King was sending out guards way out into the Brax district it won't take long for them come here. If she could get a Raven out the king about her whereabouts and the situation they were in she wouldn't need to worry. But how would she do that without having the rest figure out who she was? Or who Atticus was? If Nerys were to find out who Atticus truly was then she probably wouldn't hesitate to try and kill him. And Rei couldn't let that happen so....she had to direct her attention away from Atticus as much as possible. No matter what.
"Anyway, I think the three of us could show the newbies around? And their rooms too, girls to one side and dudes to the others. We might have a spare room now for another boy since Bob will likely be dead" Sybil said, no sugar coating the situation at all. "And pl- HEY! TULSA! You mess up my cards tonight and I'll shank you in the morning and deal with your kidneys!" Sybil suddenly barked when Atticus was about to speak up, his face changing from a smile to a frightened puppy in 0.1 seconds. Sybil's eyes were pinned on a man arranging the card tables, who only grumbled under his breath as he shifted some of the cards on the table plus removing two he had placed in his sleeve. "Are we ever going to get going?" Rei said, Atticus keeping his distance a bit from the three Crows up front seeing that they were all just....too nuts. So he stood more near the center near Heulfryn and behind Rei and the placement was confusing but eh.
"Yeah yeah. You guys needs your sleep tomorrow cause Nerys the Pirate girl is going to be talking to the big man soon enough. Don't know when. Don't know what time, he'll send for ya when he's good and ready" Sybil said with a shrug of her shoulders, Rei shifting slightly at the mention of Big man. As in leader of the Crows? Dante Kahl? "Now Will you stand there and look pretty while Eliza and I do the exploring and stuff....and whatever" Sybil said with a little pat of Will's little jacket pocket before nodding toward the staircase.

《 ehhgh there's no candy on mobile - but I saw some when I was briefly on the computer earlier 》
Will merely smirked at Sybil's mockery, raising an eyebrow. “You know, I rather like the sound of that, love ,” he teased, amused by her impressive eyeroll. He was kidding, of course - mostly. He kind of liked the way the term of endearment fell from her lips, although he wasn't sure he fit the word darling so much.
Eliza just rolled her eyes, obviously wanting nothing to do with her brother's flirtation with her friend, used to it as she was by now. She linked her arm through her friend's as they walked on, grinning at her. “Another time. I’ve got to save some to hold over his head. But do remind me to tell you the one about the dragons.” She replied, Will's immediate protests a confirmation of the story’s power of embarrassment. Eliza ignored him, switching back to the topic of books. “I loved it. And Winslow, definitely. But I also rather liked Madeleine. And Tula. Oh and I must say, that scene in the castle, with the Duke and Captain Barnaby - delightful, really.” She gushed, green eyes bright. Eliza was usually quieter, more reserved than a lot of the other Crows, but when she got to talking about books - the girl could go on for days. Will was just glad to see her so happy, cheeks flushed and smiling wide - and Sybil just the same. He blinked, almost doing a doubletake at the genuine, pleasant smile that crossed the smaller girl’s face. His eyes lingered on it for just a second too long before continuing on their way.
Heulfryn let out a low huff at Sybil Rye’s description of him. He was getting rather tired of this description of him - he'd heard it before, many many times. For the last time, he was aware of his own cheekbones - it made him rather tempted to hide them under a glamour, just for the sake of never having to hear himself referred to as Mr. Cheekbones ever again. If only they could see the creature from which he was descended, which had given him his almost unearthly facial structure. Or perhaps he could simply give them a taste of his teeth.
Will raised his eyebrows again at Sybil's command. “So you do think I'm pretty, then. I knew it - that you knew it, I mean. Obviously I was aware of how handsome I am.”
Eliza had to stop herself from rolling her eyes again. Honestly, her brother. He flirted with Sybil every time he laid eyes on her - which was frequently, whenever they were in the same locale. She'd seen the extra looks he sent her way, snuck in at times when no one was paying attention to him - so he thought. And yet when Eliza had brought it up with him, he'd looked at her as if she had grown a second head. Me and Sybil? Are you out of your mind?”. She was tempted to comment, call him out on something, but the Lyrian girl of all people, the pirate, beat her to it. “Keep it in your pants, Gansey.” Eliza snorted.
The trio of Crows led them through the main parts of the Selunti , keeping things brief where they could. They went through the main hall, checked out the private rooms. Will had lots to say about the infirmary, which he had apparently spent a fair amount of time in around when he'd first switched to the Crows (despite Sybil's directions he couldn't seem to hold his tongue). They showed them to the rooms promised upstairs, and Nerys was indeed pleased with the available baths, which she planned on taking advantage of later. Eliza cleared her throat as they came to yet another piece in the maze of Selunti . “And now for my second favourite part of this place - the kitchens.” She opened the door, letting them file through. One of the cooks called out a greeting to her, and she returned it with a smile. Her eyes travelled back to her group. “Are any of you hungry? The cooks are busy preparing for the evening, but I'm sure we could find something in here for all of you.”
Nerys's stomach growled in response. She was certainly hungry. She hadn't eaten since that before midday, and although she was accustomed to bearing an empty stomach, the smells of the kitchen had her mouth watering. “Yes please. ” She responded, stomach rumbling inside her. Food...

[ it is alright, just addicting. like candy crush only cheap]
Sybil at first rolled her eyes again at Gansey's words. "Whatever Gansey, sweetheart. Maybe I can come up with a nickname for you that involves some of my favorite vocab" She scoffed, hating how he dragged it on sometimes to where she didn't know if he was teasing her or flirting or just toying with her. Whatever it was, she wished he wouldn't do it so...vaguely. You just make things harder She thought, rolling her eyes as he kept on talking. "I swear to the gods Gansey I-" Am going to beat you silly were the words she never got to say. She busted out a sharp laugh at the Lyrian girls comment and short little giggles left her mouth.
This girl had spunk...Sybil made a note that she could like this one in the future. Sybil reached up to tug the pony tail out of her hair, blonde bangs ending in a swoopy flopping into her face. She turned her head slightly towards Gansey and raised an eyebrow as if to say You got played and for once not by Sybil's own words. But anyway, the tour went as brief as they could besides Will's constant jabbering at times. Of course when they stopped by the infirmary she had hopped to see Benny there cleaning up bandages or stitching someone up, she didn't get to see him as much she use to. When Will came to join them he had gotten pretty dinged up and still had some old beefs with his old group. So who do you think had to stay there and keep him company? Take a guess.
When coming to the kitchens, Rei's stomach grumbled just like Nerys's had done. "Some of the best cooks in all of Noridi. I think there's leftover from last night..." Sybil mumbled as she unhooked her arm from Eliza and over to the chefs to sneak a peek into the kettles and pots and what not. Rei almost drooled at the smell, her stomach tightening as she thought about the smells in the air and the thought of eating alone...gods she regretted not eating something at the palace. "Don't be a stranger kids. Grab something and eat up, unless you wanna wait for tonight." Sybil said as she pulled herself onto a counter, stretching her body up to grab a apple from a wire basket. Rei glanced towards the others before look back toward the possible food to take. There was apples in baskets and slices of bread smeared with jams and butters, not to mention there was meat chopped up in a skillet and....gods.
Sybil sat herself on the counter and chomped into the apple, grinning the juices gushed from the apple and the sweet taste filled her mouth. "Y'all look a little scrawny anyway....almost William Gansey skinny" Sybil said after a mouthful of apple. After that it didn't take much to get Rei to get to one of those baskets filled with fruit and drag out a plum, having to climb on the counter just as Sybil did. Life as a short girl had it's down sides didn't it? Atticus only raised an eyebrow to Rei climbing up to get a fruit, but otherwise didn't move towards the food. This was where Atticus couldn't really break his own Prince code of conduct here. His mother always taught him it was rude to ever just go into a kitchen and start eating food while another course was being cooked. But he did spare a smile toward the group, looking so formal now with his arms tucked behind his back.
"Everyone looks skinny now a days" Rei said before biting into the plum, coughing softly as the sweet yet sour taste filled her mouth so....intensely. It was more sour then sweet actually, her lips puckering for a moment. Sybil let out a strangled laugh while looking at Rei's face, the only other facial expression she has made since meeting her. Rei didn't know if she should grin or frown at the sound, only taking another bite so she didn't have to pick which one. The chefs scurried around them while Rei chomped away at her fruit, her eyes roaming on the pots filled with soups and meat roasting inside the ovens. She honestly didn't want to eat too much....should she to taste it that is. She looked toward Atticus across the kitchen, lifting the plum up slightly as if to offer him some. But he shook his head slightly, she swears it was like this boy has never eaten anything. All he does is nibble on his dinner back...home.
Suddenly the plum tasted a lot more sour.
"So..." Rei coughed lightly as she stopped to breathe, her eyes glancing toward the three Crows. "What exactly goes on when those doors open?" She asked, raising a brow. "Gambling...fun. Guests can choose from a variety of games. Poker, cards, pool, and the works of course. Y'all should come see the dealers at the cards tables..." Sybil said as she dug into her apple again. "Of course that is if you aren't talking to Dante" She said that name again, sending a shiver down Rei's spine. "But you all should really like...bathe. You smell like Brax trash. There might be like some fresh clothing to wear I don't know....which reminds me I should really put on my uniform..." Sybil muttered, the idea of putting on her own fitted clothing. She usually wore a similar attire to Eliza, only her vest was dark brown with golden embroidery on it, and a small pocket for a linked pocket watch. Other than that she had to wear a black blouse underneath, with hemmed black slacks. Benny said it looked good on her, but Benny thought everyone looked good in everything. The big bear didn't know how to tell someone they were ugly....unless you asked.
Atticus listened to them silently, tipping his head a bit before looking toward Heulfryn. "You've been awfully quiet....you a talker?" Atticus asked the man, stepping out onto that ledge of trying to make conversation for the first time with this man since the Selene. Honestly he didn't really want to but it seemed like Rei was more focused on talking to the others and Atticus felt like Heulfryn wasn't all bad. He could be one of those guys that acted all big and bad, the bad boy type but really...Atticus bet Heulfryn liked puppies and rainbows. That he was a big old softie and Atticus was gonna see that side....if he didn't get back handed by the man first. Or by one of these crazy Crows.

haha true. There is snow on the ground where I am right now and I am not pleased cx it's not even November yetttt
At the comment courtesy of one Nerys the pirate-slash-privateer, Will choked a little. What was it today with everyone and their comments on him? Well, it wasn’t that out of the ordinary, but today’s had proved to be more frequent than usual. He cast a desperate look at his sister, but of course the traitor was laughing right alongside the others. Fine, then. That didn’t mean he had to give up - he was still looking for a win here today. Especially after his brief conversation with Remus about the ink - she owed him for that one. And he’d settle for it in the simplicity of a blushing defeat. “In that case you better just use my name, dear, because from the frequency of which you say it I think it must fall within your favourite vocabulary. Then again, it is a very regal name; William Gansey. No wonder so many people seem to say it - although I can’t fathom the usual accompanying exasperation.” There he went, dramatizing in full William Gansey style - posh Royna accent to accompany it, although that wasn’t faked at all. The young lad still had the accent of an aristo after all these years, although his actual vocabulary had shifted considerably. He snatched the apple from Sybil’s hand, stealing a bite before placing it back in her hand and quickly stepping out of range - the kitchen was maybe not the best place to mess with her after all, what with all the available knives.
“William Enoch Newton Gansey III, I think you mean, brother dearest,” added Eliza from her spot beside Sybil, popping a piece of bread in her mouth. She went so far as to give him a wink, grinning smugly. Nerys snorted as she scanned the selection of fruits available, giving a pleased huh as she selected something bright orange and tropical-looking. Of course she would be accustomed to foreign fruits, as a seafarer. “The third? That’s rich - literally.” She laughed. Not that she had it much better - Nerys was an equally an old and traditional name in Lyriad, and there had to have been at least a dozen Queens of her bloodline with the name. Her ancestors. Still, she’d never had the pain of being introduced as something like ‘Her Royal Highness Princess Nerys Eilian Gwendoline Seven-Other-First-Names-After-Her-Ancestors Taliesin”. It had always just been Nerys Aneira Taliesin. Eliza smiled sweetly at the look on Will - or should one say William Enoch Newton Gansey the third’s face. “I warned you. You should have kept quiet, Gansey three.”
He threw his hands up in the air, looking to be the one defeated after all. “These women, they’re ganging up on me,” he cried, although he didn’t look too hurt after all. He turned, heading for the door back out to the hallway, casting a parting look over his shoulder, gesturing at the four newcomers with a dismissive wave of his hand. “You all are free to go amuse yourselves in the time being before the Big Man sends someone to fetch you. I need to get my work, before all that expensive ink can mysteriously disappear.” He said this last bit with a fleeting wink at Sybil, darting out the door before something could be thrown at him.
Heulfryn had paid this little exchange mostly no heed. Like many other things he had no patience for a couple of kids tossing around flirtatious remarks and ignoring the obvious tension between them. The poor boy had it bad - and Heulfryn was pretty sure he didn’t even realize it. Too bad for him, since he suspected if the young man actually gathered his courage and asked the girl, she’d say yes. Somehow he doubted that was going to happen any time soon.
He glanced over at the other young man present as he spoke to Heulfryn. Eius, the pretty one. What was it with the men these days and their lack of guts? He suspected any one of the young ladies present would have no trouble beating Eius or any of the other Royna men that strutted around in their fancy suits and trousers. He stared at the young man for a second, waiting to see if he’d shrink under his gaze. If he showed his real eyes, perhaps… But of course he wasn’t going to do that, had no reason to do that. “If the conversation is stimulating,” he replied bluntly. An answer but not an answer, since it was hard to tell whether he was being sarcastic or not.
Nerys, who had scarfed down the rest of the orange fruit both astonishingly quickly and neatly, tossed the core aside, stretching. “Right, then if that’s that, I am going to go take a bath.” She said. And indeed, she was rather looking forward to it, after so long at sea. She loved sailing, and she always would, but being ashore always had its perks. Like hot baths and fresh foods - after a few weeks on the ship they were always down to fish and things that wouldn’t spoil, tough breads and salted pork - soft beds and spiced tea. Nerys planned to enjoy it all on her stay here, even if it was a stop for business. She would take advantage of those luxuries, because she wasn’t sure if there would anything left of her when this was done.
And she was fine with that, if it meant the start of the end of the suffering of her people.
Eliza nodded to the Lyrian girl, hopping to her feet. “I’ll see if I can find you some clothes to wear. A couple of the girls were cleaning out some of their old stuff the other day - I should be able to find some things that’ll work.” She cast a look towards Rei, offering a polite smile. “Do you need some clothes as well? It would be no trouble - I’m sure some of Sybil’s stuff might fit you, since you two are about the same size.” Her green gaze passed to the girl in question. “I’ll see you at the tables - I managed to charm Richter into putting us on the same shift for once.” Eliza covered a bunch of different positions at Selunti; occasionally she served, bringing their patrons food and wine as requested - and quite often leaving with a few extra baubles than originally brought out - waitressing had brought a whole new game to her pickpocketing skills, as it turned out. Tonight, however, she was dealing cards, same as Sybil - she’d gotten her friend to teach her, and with her existing sleight of hand skills had picked it up far faster than her brother.

[ Can we trade then? You can have the cold sunny weather cause I want snow ;c; we rarely get snow around this time of the year until the end of December ]
"Yeah - HEY!" Sybil frowned when Will took the apple away from her hands to only take a bite out of it himself before placing it back into her palm. A faint blush dusted her lips as she looked at the apple but then her lips turned down into a frown. She would have tossed it at him, grabbed a knife and flung it at his face and see if he would cry like a little girl like last time, but this time as he turned around to wink at her she took a bite from that apple. Staring him right down in the eyes as she did so, her blush only growing brighter at the words of the ink vanishing. She was going to do more then use up all his ink tonight. He seemed to forget that she knew how to pick a lock and had access to candles and matches, it would be a shame if all his underwear suddenly went up in flames in the middle of the night. She tuned in back to the conversation the girls were having, trying to seem as casual as she could.
At the mention of getting ready for tonight, Sybil grinned before finishing off the apple and thus tossing it into a waste basket. "I only got pants though, unless you wish to wear a slightly ruined red dress." Sybil said hopping down, turning towards the red head and for once not having to really turn her eyes upwards. "Um...that would be lovely thank you" Rei said, bowing slightly to the girls as a awkward action of thanks. Sybil tipped her head to the side before shrugging, the girl probably had some sort of manners complex or something. "And if it's not too much trouble...I was wondering if I could use a Raven....I need to cancel my plans that I previously set...and let my brothers know I'm not dead in a gutter" Rei added, trying not to sound too pushy about it or awkward. Her 'brothers' meant her guards back at the castle including the King. She didn't want any more silver armored men running around the Brax burning down whatever they could get their hands on.
"Sure, you can use it after you get freshened up. Better you all look like you roll around in gold before meeting the boss man" Sybil said as she stretched, looking over at Eliza and grinned slightly. "I can only imagine what you had to do in order to get the grump to do that. But hey, at least I get to see you work those cards at last." Sybil said, feeling a tad bit excited to see Eliza work on the tables. Sybil and Eliza barely had enough time to see each other work the cards because of their different shifts. If Sybil was working at the tables then Eliza was busy with running around serving others. If Eliza was busy working the tables then Sybil was either downstairs working on earning some extra cash or she was stuck in her little library cause people scared her. Or....as of late she would hide in Will's office and bug him until he turned red in the face - or until he turned her red in the face. Either way she never got to see Eliza work the cards without Sybil guiding her fingers or teaching her new shuffles and slides. "Anyway, Eliza you take Rei to her room and I'll take Rei to her's and uh....oh wait there's you two" Sybil said, looking toward Atticus and Heulfryn.
At Heulfryn's reply Atticus had begun to speak once more, the boy seeming not to get the hint that Heulfryn didn't really wish to speak. "So what counts as stimulating? No small chit chat th-" But he never got to finish when Sybil spoke up. "What about us?" Atticus said, looking at the group of girls who had been gaggling most of the time. "Well I don't got two suits your size laying around...we should have had Will take you guys to get something but...I doubt his suits would fit...I could find Remus but-" Sybil began to speak only to have the doors to the kitchen bang open with a whole new gaggle of chefs running in like the devil was on their tail, the head chef yelling about how the doors would open in 30 minutes. "Bloody he.....Alright, Eliza you take Atticus and I'll take Heulfryn to get a suit from Ned's room." Sybil said, grabbing hold of Rei's arm and pulling her with such force that Rei almost fell face first into the hard tiled floor. And on the way out, Sybil grabbed onto Heulfryn's arm and pulled him with her and out the door, leaving Atticus once more with a group of strangers he didn't know how to act around. Considering one of them planned on killing his family.
"Wait R-" Atticus began but by the time he even began to talk, the short blonde had already taken the duo out of the kitchen, his eyes looking back toward the girl Eliza and Nerys. Eliza seemed nice enough, but Atticus still couldn't get over the fact that when this little period of nice-happy-fun-time is over that he would be having to find a way in getting his family out of the palace or better yet, getting this girl away from his home. Away from his sister. "Just a fyi...I do not look good in orange"
-
Sybil dragged the two out the kitchen and towards the spiral staircase leading up to the second floor, pushing past people that seemed to filled the staircases wearing almost the same uniform that Eliza had before. Black vests over crisp white shirts and blouses, black skirts or black slacks with shiny shoes and flats. The women had their hair up in buns or were decorated with different clips and hair decorations, the men had their hair slicked back from their face or combed to the side. Either way they were buzzing around like flies this way and that. Some were heading off toward the bar area or some were setting up near the pool tables and poker games to over see that nothing went amiss. And the card dealers were setting up their stations for showing their tricks and also watching the games for cheaters or....to cause some trouble within the folds.
"I think there's a suit that Ned has that can fit you since you are kind of the same height as him, It might be a bit tight but then again you've been wearing that cloak all day. How are you not sweating by the way?" Sybil began to talk as she moved, moving them down the hallway and then turning sharply at the end. The second floor was for current memebers of The Crows but there was two adjourning hallways that were kept for the more active memebers that worked both outside the Selunti and outside. Sybil stopped at the first door when she turned, the oak door having a SR carved into it but covered with golden paint to seem like it was meant to be there. When really it was Remus trying to cover up the damage Sybil had made to the door. "Wait here" Sybil said to the two, Rei shooting Heulfryn a look that could almost translate to This is nuts before Sybil went off back around the corner. There was the sound of a door being knocked on...and then being shoved open and a frightened sound of a man entering the hall.
"Sybil I'm not-"
"I just need a suit for a friend and- oh you weren't lying about that birthmark"
Sybil returned with a dark emerald suit in her arms, with a coal gray vest tucked underneath the jacket, with a comb tucked into the pocket. "I got the first thing that I could grab it was ugly in there" Sybil said as she shoved the suit into Heulfryn's arms. "Now for you..." Sybil said as she opened the door to her room and slipped inside, not really shutting the door in their faces but shutting it so it would tell them Don't come in here. "It's like they are getting us ready for a party..." Rei mumbled, hearing the clank and bang of a closet door and dresser drawers. The door opened again with Sybil shoving a black blouse, a silver vest with golden trim and white buttons plus a pair of silver slacks. The same colors for a guard....of Noridi. Rei tensed slightly as if expecting Sybil to come out with a knife and stab her for lying to them. But instead when she looked up the girl was buttoning up her own brown vest.
"There are rooms at the end of the hall you guys can use. A bath, freshly made bed and a nice view of the palace. 5 stars would recommend to anyone that's sane....I don't need to show you guys there right? I would but I really need to hurry" Sybil said, as she finished buttoning up her vest, now vanishing back into her room to grab the brush from her dresser top, running it through her hair until all the knots and stray hairs were neatly patted down. Her bangs kept falling into her face, her eyes scanning the dresser top for the clip she usually puts in her hair but no luck. "Not again..." She muttered.
Rei glanced up at Heulfryn before dipping her head down and heading towards the end of the hall, making a wild guess in opening the door to a empty room. She didn't want to make small talk with him....not when she was going to be locking this whole place down soon. She didn't spend a lot of time getting all fancy, she took a quick bath and scrubbed her skin basically to get rid of the smell that has been lingering on her body. She then dried her hair, went about putting on the clothes that Sybil had given her and almost flinched in the mirror at the sight of the silver. Give her a maroon cloak and you got a copy of the Captain outfit she had on only not as metallic. Rei brushed her hair out until the short bob curled in toward her face and her bangs were just a floof sitting on her forehead. She took one glimpse around the room though.....
She needed a piece of paper and a pen

It wasn't even like a real snow though, just cold and wet and absolutely gross. Not my cup of tea. But I'm more of a Spring-Summer-Autumn kind of person. Basically anything but winter.
Heulfryn was glad for the excuse to get away from the chatty merchling, but that didn’t mean he was pleased by being dragged around by some spunky little blonde girl who had unsettled romantic business. He shrugged off her hand, grumbling something under his breath about being able to handle himself, but still followed close behind her. Around him, Crows flooded down the stairs, all decked out in very similar outfits of black and white - uniforms, then. The innocent face to much of their real business - not that they weren’t pouring in a lot of money from this operation, because they were, but Heulfryn knew they drew more from their less legal activities. He could do well in a place like this with his abilities but… He didn’t do groups. Not on the long term. A contract like this one was already pushing it, quite honestly. But the pay was well worth it, and he had no qualms with seeing the royal family of Noridi go, with what they’d done to his kind. Brought on perhaps by the Empire they’d pledged themselves to in the war, but a bystander who did nothing was as much to blame as the culprit.
He took the clothes that Sybil handed him with a simple thanks and then turned, heading down the hall to the rooms they’d shown them on their tour. He could have left, gone home to his own much more spacious appartment, but it didn’t seem worth the trouble. He wanted to be there when they met with Dante Kahl, the leader of the Crows and finalized the terms of this agreement between them and the Crows. He wanted to be there to hear every term, to know every detail, in order to decide if he really wanted in or not. Also to keep an eye on his fellow crewmates - he needed more time to observe them, figure them out so he could better predict their moves. Heulfryn would rather not leave things up for surprise.
He didn’t bother bathing fully, simply washing his face and sponging off a little with a towel. His other clothes were pretty fine, too, once he shed the cloak - lighter than his usual coat, which he missed the weight of. All black as it’s base, finely tailored - but it’s real key feature was its enchantment, created by yours truly. He’d spent several weeks on it one long winter, and it had been worth every painstaking minute of it. He’d designed it to work with his power, and now it could shift into whatever manner of coat he chose; not just an illusion, but actually shifting - at least, to everyone else’s senses. It conveyed illusion of sight and touch, so one thought they were handling the coat they were seeing, but it always provided the same actual coverage to Heulfryn, the same warmth. Not for the heat of today. He put on the new clothes anyway, inspecting them in the mirror. They fit him fine, and followed the latest mortal trends - he’d seen this particular shade of emerald a number of men in the Royna district at the match today. It wasn’t such a bright colour that it felt entirely wrong on him (his wardrobe consisted almost entirely of the scale of white to black) and it suited the face he was currently wearing, a human version of his own but...
Heulfryn let his glamour drop. His ears extended to points - probably the most delicate of his inhuman features, hailing from his mother’s side. His eyes glowed gold, belonging to some kind of nocturnal beast, his teeth long and sharp and pointed - more so than the average High Fae. Skin paler than anything of the world of the living, almost gray tinged. And those cheekbones that they all had been joking about that day… Now they made his face gaunt, skeletal.
He was the well-dressed visitor in your nightmares. And he made an absolute savage of this suit.
Heulfryn turned away from the mirror, drawing the glamour back over his face. He wanted to win some money - and distract himself until it was time to go see the great Dante Kahl. He strode back out into the hall, making for the stairs.
Perhaps he’d play some cards.
--
Eliza watched as Sybil dragged her assigned pair out the door, calling out a farewell before turning back to the two she’d been left with. The pretty boy and the pirate - now that seemed like something she might find in a book. An adventure, probably of the swashbuckling kind, perhaps with a little romance… She tucked the idea away in her mind. For now she needed to find these two some clothes. She looked them both up and down briefly, assessing. On second thought, Nerys would probably fit her own clothes - Eliza was several inches taller, but they had a similar build overall. Nerys was definitely more muscled, but they were both lean and fairly flat-chested. Eius on the other hand… Well, obviously he needed men’s clothing. And he wasn’t quite as tall or thin as Will, so that was out of the question… She’d figure something out. She smiled. “Noted; no orange. How about pink?” Eliza question, leading them much less aggressively towards the door. “Just kidding. If you two would follow me…”
She led them upstairs, stopping first at her room to grab some clothes for Nerys. Eliza asked Eius to wait in the hall, then led Nerys into her room, opening her closet wide. “Take your pick; most of it wasn’t mine to begin with so… It’s like giving back, you know?” Nerys didn’t really, but she smiled at the girl anyway, who had taken to fidgeting with the end of her braid. And she did understand, in a way - Eliza had the look of someone who had had to look out for themselves. And now that she was with the Crows… Maybe the poor girl didn’t know how to handle everything that had been handed her way. Nerys turned to the closet, debating her options. Pants would be wiser, but…. Her brown eyes strayed to the dresses and skirts. Okay, so what if she had a thing for nice clothes? Just because she was a pirate didn’t mean she couldn’t have good taste. She drew out an off-white lace blouse, a long blue-slate skirt. She nodded at Eliza, smiling. “Thank you.”
The two girls rejoined Eius in the hall, Nerys with the borrowed clothes slung over her arm. “I’m off, then.” Said the pirate girl, bidding the others farewell with a casual wave. She padded down the hall, off to the rooms they’d showed her to before, ready to make good on her promises. That being, she was going to take a bath. She set the clothes on the bed and then rushed to the tub, endlessly pleased at the hot water that poured instantly from the taps. Oh, how she sometimes-occasionally-begrudgingly loved the city. She took her time, in no hurry to leave the warm waters, and it had started to cool by the time she got out. She dried and combed her hair, pulling on the clothes she’d borrowed from Eliza. Looking in the mirror she let out a tiny squeak of glee. The lace blouse was loose and summery, tucked into the blue-grey skirts which hugged her around the waist before falling straight to the floor. It was elegant and cute and with her brown hair down and falling to her shoulders… Well, she felt rather girlish for once. And she didn’t feel an ounce of regret about it.
Now, to see about that food…
---
It only took Eliza a few minutes to track down the man she needed to find, although he was less than pleased to see her for the second time that day, making requests. “Please, Richter? It’s just to borrow and, remember, we do want to make a good impression on our guests.” She smiled at the less than pleased looking face of one Carlisle Richter. AKA, the one in charge of making sure things ran smoothly at Selunti while Remus and Dante and the other big leaguers handled the serious crime - somewhat of a touchy subject with the man. He looked tough, and the man liked to think he was one of the big dogs, but Eliza knew on the inside he was something of a softie. No taste for violence - he didn’t even like to go down to the basement. But he had a mean poker face. And right now he looked rather unhappy to be seeing Eliza again.
“Those clothes are meant for employees only. We can’t have the boy running around looking like an employee. Especially if he’s going up to see Dante; he’ll know right away that I’ve been handing out his property to guests. You know I can’t have that.” Richter replied.
“I do know, which is why I was hoping to borrow your clothes.” Eliza smiled at him sweetly.
Richter stared, less than impressed, hoping she’d fold. She didn’t, and he let out a rough sigh, tossing her a key. “Fine, but be quick about it. I want that key back in ten, and I’ll know if you touch anything other than my clothes. Which I’ll be wanting back too. You’ve been spending too much time with Sybil, girl - I thought you were supposed to be the sweet one. Don’t be late for your shift either, which starts in five by the way.” he glowered at Eius in the background. “I hope you’re not a messy eater, boy.” The words came off with a tone of warning, a threat.
Eliza beamed. “Thank you!” She grabbed Eius by the hand, now dragging him along under the constraint of time. She raced down the hall to the door she knew to be Richter’s (as the sort-of manager of business here he got one the nicer rooms), opening the door and heading straight for the closet. She pressed a set of clothes into Eius’s arms - silky black shirt, black vest with gold stitching, black pants; businessman with a bad streak, which kind of fit Richter’s whole aesthetic and not at all the sweet boy in front of her, but she didn’t have time to be picky. “Take those. Rooms at the end of the hall where I showed you before. Now I apologize, but I really must be going.” With that, she hurried off downstairs to make it in time for her shift at the tables.

[ Ew that's nasty snow. Like that gray slush on the road. But, I l o v e winter. I'm like the opposite, I enjoy Winter-Fall and some spring weather but I hate summer. Maybe because summer can be really disgusting for us here idk. ]
Atticus let the girl drag him away from the kitchen, staying quiet for the most part until they got to the whole big man and just...big. He must have been like the manager or something, which he thought was Remus's job but maybe Remus was more like the second in command and this guy was like the actual manager or something? Who knew. "Trust me, I don't know how to be messy" Atticus said but just in case, he crossed a X over his heart as to promise not to get his suit all messy. Was every man in this building nicely dressed with suits that probably cost more then the rugs at the palace? Atticus just let the girl drag him once more to the next destination, the clothing he was given was defiantly....different. "Right, sure. Don't worry about me, have a nice....time" Atticus said to the fleeting figure of Eliza, watching her hurry off to her next spot which would be the card tables. Atticus just looked down at the clothing in his arms before heading off to the rooms that Eliza had showed them, mostly remembering by what comments were made at the time at what spot. When he slipped into the room the first thing he did was start the bath. He was use to having hot water all the time for when he bathed so he didn't really stop to appreciate the fact he had hot water. He just went to scrubbing away the smell on his skin and just getting back to feeling clean.
When he emerged he went to dressing himself, ditching his slacks which by the way were all smudged up now with dirt. He even went the extra mile in looking nice by combing back his hair from his face until it was slicked back from his face like in the beginning of the day. The black vest fit snuggly across his chest and the suit itself kind of gave a more....dark look to Atticus? Maybe. All of his clothes that were tailored so they would fit on his causally and not at all tight. Not to mention he didn't have a piece of black clothing in his wardrobe other then his black pants and shoes. His vest jackets and coats were usually red or silver. Atticus looked at the reflection in the mirror and turned his body this way and that, making a mental note of how much older he looked. Or maybe it was the fact he was wearing a older mans suit. Who knew.
But right now he had to get down to that main hall and see the activities going on or....he should really look for Rei. She was probably out looking for him, going to drag him through the back door and get out of here before it was too late. Then again...he really wanted to see a card dealer and explore this place. As crazy as everything has been it was all exciting wasn't it? Nothing was this cool in the palace, well given no one really wanted to kill his whole family. Besides that point though, he liked being outside of those marble walls and steel gates. He enjoyed talking to other people that didn't know who he was and didn't gawk like those in the stadium did. He rolled his shoulders back and tried one smile in the mirror. Not at all prince like right? He turned right around and out the door, glancing down the hallway before making his way toward the first floor stairs. And the first floor was already getting busy. People were already washing in and the card dealers were at their spots. Atticus could spot Sybil at her table, and he could also pick out a few other faces in the crowd as well which brought a smile to his face. Descending those steps he did the only thing he knew how. And that was to act kind and shake just about everyone's hand while offering a smile.
"Hello. Hey there. Good evening sir" Atticus said with a grin, shaking some hands here and there on the way down the steps and even onto the main floor. A hand came to rest on his shoulder and he jumped for a split second until a familiar laugh reached his ears. "My you are certainly a friendly one aren't ya?" Remus said, the red head doing just about the same thing that Atticus had been doing before spotting him. "Oh hello again Mr. Ha-" Atticus began the formal greeting but Remus shook his head with a little frown to his face. "Just Remus or Hawkins, Eius. Nothing too formal" He said and turned the boy back around, extending his hand to those who came up to Remus. Atticus took note of how freshly cut Remus looked, his suit was different as well. Sapphire velvet vest underneath a even darker blue jacket pinned with golden buttons and a pocket watch chain in his pocket.
"Right...um how was uh Bob?"
"Oh him? Well he is doing fine now. Won't walk or pick things up or just about smile for a very long time." Remus said, still keeping that grin on his face. "But you are doing fine son, keep up what you are doing. You look good, very clean. Dante will be happy to know you've all been taken care of. Now tell me Eius...Do you gamble?"

Rei didn't waste a heart beat before taking whatever piece of paper she could get her hands on, being just plain lucky to find a almost empty ink bottle and a pen to write on it. She wrote something discreet but not enough to where someone could think Hm, are you really a peasant and not the Captain of the Guard you know? but more like this:
Won't be getting home tonight, or maybe for a while. Job is running longer then I thought. I have your gift with me so don't worry, just remember don't freak out if I come back a few days late. Take care of yourselves. I won't lose your gift, I swear. Be back soon.
~Sister
And that was just about it. Now if delivered to a royal guard, they would know immediately that the 'gift' is actually Atticus and that she won't loose him. And that the job is really whatever she got caught up in, almost like a red alert to them A flash signal to say Don't panic or else things will get crazy. She didn't need silver armored guards raiding every single home in Kevior from Noridi to Dasmalt. She needed them to act normally, like Atticus was still in the palace and not parading around like he was a gangster. She had to make that clear somehow without giving off alarms in case these Crows read the messages before sending them out. And if she were to get caught she would put up a fight no one in Kevior could expect. If there's one thing in Grifthelm she learned was how to kill and make easy escapes.
Rei folded the paper into a tiny square and tucked it into her chest pocket, brushing her hair out of her face before exiting the room and heading off to the first floor, her steps quiet as she hurried to find Atticus. She felt her heart hammer in her chest that really this was the first time she had let him out of her sight since coming here and really she didn't trust anyone here. The kid was too nice, too trusting with everyone around him. Rei jumped at the sudden start of trumpets and drums, music being played loud enough to bust her eardrums if she was too close to the stage which she didn't notice until now. Odd. Rei suddenly had the overwhelming feeling of just people in general. She kept her face stone cold and emotionless, trying not to show any sign of being uncomfortable in any way. People were laughing and talking, filling up the seats to the poker tables and the card tables with grins and chuckles. Private rooms were already being sectioned off by the large black velvet drapes, loud laughing coming from them.
She scanned the crowd head by head, ignoring the obvious pock pocketing and cheating going on when she passed. Her hand itched to latch onto someone's wrist and tell them to drop whatever they took but she kept her hands to herself. Nervously wiping her palms on the front of her pants, her eyes only stopping when she spotted a dark red headed man lead a black hair boy away. Atticus she thought, pushing forward only to be ushered that way instead. It was like wading through a rushing river that suddenly kicks up sometimes. Rei soon lost sight of the two, instead settling down at some card table with a slight frowny face. What else was new?

Speaking of card tables, Sybil was having a grand old time.
Most probably wouldn't even guess the work it takes to handle these tables. A card dealer was kept under intense bright lights, being watched by multiple eyes and expected to draw attention to their tables. Then they had to host a game of cards, a different game each day. Sometimes it would be plain old games that were easy to go by but other times Sybil liked to switch it around sometimes with Thieves bet which was a game entirely based on cheating, you lost if you got caught though. She loved that one, was really good at it too mostly because of the fact she knew how to work a card. But being a card dealer was so. Much. Fun.
She welcomed everyone to her table, one set of cards tucked underneath the table and another fanned out for everyone to see. These cards were specially made for the crows and cost...a lot. Like more then Sybil's own tailored clothes. Each one had a special design of a black crow on top of a gold background, sometimes a silver laced crow on top of a black background. It was different with each pack, thus why it cost so much. Sybil liked her own black on red set, kept things simple and not too flashy. Speaking of flashy, she was trying so hard to be that tonight. Sybil had a wide mischievous smile on her face like she had a secret to tell but didn't want to spill. Her fingers twisted the cards around and flipped them here and there, shuffle after shuffle while calling out to possible players. Her seats filed up quick enough just like every other card dealer, a large stack of gold being passed her way as a entry permit.
"Welcome boys. Ready for a game or two...or 10?" She asked them as they sat down, quickly fanning out some cards between her hand sand switching them with a twist so they rested in-between her fingers like blades. "How about a good old Thieves bet uh? Something risky to start us off" She said, her eyes bouncing around to the faces sitting at her table, handing out a few hands to the men sitting there. The sound of coins hitting the center though were like sweet whispers in her ear as she watched them. These men were so easy to get money out of, just a little That's all you're gonna bet? and Come on, take a risk to get them to play on a little more. She watched the men begin their games, laying down cards here and there, she would reach out and tap someone twice as a warning when caught...and then she would place down a joker card in front of them as a elimination sign. She did find her eyes skirting toward the back as she worked, expecting a certain someone to maybe emerge from the back....and come you know....talk.
Not like she would march back there and demand it or anything but you know it was a thought.

I see cx Well then I'd be happy to trade for some warm weather once the snow comes around. Also hey do you ever read science fiction? YA sci-fi, anyway.
Now this was a place Heulfryn felt comfortable in. Fine clothes, fine food, fine accents - and tables covered in gold. The flash of cards, black and white and red and gold - each deck custom designed and hand painted, so cards couldn’t be slipped from one deck or another. Easy to trace back to any particular game, should cheating arise. Of course there were other ways to cheat… The dealers themselves did so frequently, being the ones in control of the game after all. Playing it to keep their patrons feeling lucky, but not quite satisfied with their winnings quite yet, keeping them ensnared at their tables. Heulfryn could make a fortune in a place like this, had literally been born with the ability to cheat any hand, any eyes, any ears. And he had done so before. But it always paid better to take things slow, run them dry in small amounts, so as never to arouse suspicion. In his youth he had made the black book in at least a dozen cities. Too bad for them he could wear a new face every night. But he had only been to Selunti a handful of times, and it was still an untamed beast to him.
He let his feet carry him about the hall, eyes skimming searchingly over the tables. But it was his ears that did the real hunting, telling him what he wanted to know. What players were going all in on what games, where the best prospects lay. Heulfryn took the same care in choosing a game as a thief choosing their marks - for in a way it was the same thing. He debated for a moment the table at which Sybil Rye was dealing, but quickly decided against it. Whether Thieves’ Bet was one of his favourites or not, the little blonde knew who he was, and what he was. Besides, from the way her eyes kept straying to the back doors, she was hoping - or expecting - a visit from someone, and it didn’t take too much intuition to guess who it was. He’d rather be anywhere else but stuck between another charged conversation between she and that William Gansey.
Instead he took a seat at an adjacent table, where the dealer was currently making a show of shuffling his deck, the cards flowing seamlessly between his trained fingers, calling out for them to come and join a game a Alcedo - a favourite of many in Noridi. To an untrained eye, he made the deck seem endless, the shuffler pulling more cards out of thin air - he wasn’t. Heulfryn could see him subtly slipping cards from the newer stack in his right hand back into the one in his left. He paused every once in awhile to fan them, switch out for an impressive spiral shuffle - Heulfryn was not as impressed. If he had the deck, he could probably draw the whole hall to his table. But then again perhaps that wasn’t fair, since he could make a trick of the tricks with his powers. Still, he wanted to get on with the game.
His gaze flickered away from the card dealer as a pair of familiar faces took a seat at the same table as he had. Remus Hawkins and… He blinked, taking in the very different appearance of the other. Eius was dressed in all black, the clothes more fitted than his previous ensemble, black hair combed back elegantly. He looked… older. Less like a lost kid who’d wandered a few blocks in the wrong direction. But that didn’t mean he wasn’t. Right, Heulfryn meant to have a chat with this kiddo when the game was over.
--
The scene Nerys found awaiting her downstairs was drastically different from the one she’d seen on her tour. The big open room they’d come to first was now packed, nicely dressed patrons flowing from one game to the next, all thinking that tonight was the night they were going to win in big. Nerys herself had the sudden itch to join in, prove them wrong - after all, she was the Mori, a siren of the unaware sailor, sinker of ships. And she did love her gold, which was being passed around in plenty. But... She was not here to gamble, and if by the off chance she still pulled this insane heist off and walked away free, she’d be swimming in enough cash to buy herself an armada.
Besides, her current mission was much more important than even that one; food.
She could navigate the seas as well as the finest navigators, knew the stars and constellations of every continent, but being on land, inside, was a whole different beast. And she had to admit she didn’t have the best sense of direction without the stars to keep her on track, and her compass was equally useless in this situation. Without the crowds of people she might have been able to find her way back to the kitchens, but she was out of luck in that regard. She tried keeping tracking one of the servers, hoping they might lead her back to where she wanted to go, but the flocks of taller people kept obstructing her vision. Maybe if she got out her knives (all six of which she had hidden on her, despite the casual clothing - she never went anywhere without those knives)...
That was when Nerys spotted another familiar figure, looking equally lost adrift among the crowds. She pushed towards the silver-clad girl before she could lose her again. “Rei!” She called, joining the smaller girl. “Well, you’re looking bright. And easy to find in a crowd,” Nerys commented, much more conversational now that they weren’t necessarily discussing business. She groaned, pressing a hand to her stomach as it growled. “Ai, Cynhaebh. Do you remember the way to the kitchens? Because I intend to consume the equivalent mass of a whale when I find it.” She shot the girl a wry, pirate worthy grin - no guilt, no shame.
--
Will, meanwhile, was in his office, hard at work. Or, well, half of that statement was true. If he properly calculated the verity of that statement, he’d come out somewhere around it being 60% true or so. He was in his office, and he was the Will in question. But hard at work? Not so much. It wasn’t for a lack of trying - he was trying very hard to focus on the numbers, manage the expenses going in and going out, projecting their profits in the next month, next year, next three years. But every time he went to refer to something from the previous day’s work, he caught sight of those darned scribbles all over his work and -
The apple. He kept seeing Sybil’s face as he’d looked over his shoulder, staring him down as she’d taken a bite. It was ridiculous - it was just a fruit, and she was just a girl, and it certainly had no reason to be playing in his mind on repeat. It definitely shouldn’t be making him feel this confused, this flustered. Especially since that meant she’d won this round.
He hated how close his office was to the gambling hall. It hadn’t even been an office, per se, originally, but more of a spare room. It wasn’t too bad, overall, though tiny. At least he had a great view of the neighbouring brick wall from its large window. But he hated how the sound carried, how he could hear the laughter and clink of the coins and the cheers when someone won it big. When he got into his focus, all of that disappeared, but at times like now… His fingers itched for the cards. He didn’t know the best tricks or even sleight of hand, but he was a whiz at working the deck, at calculating the odds. It was part of what had bought his way into the Wolf King’s favor in the first place. But there was also the added pull that he knew Sybil was working tonight, and he knew she hated when he came to her table, played the cards that she’d already been trying to work. The origin of her coming to draw scribbles on his work had perhaps been a provoked action. Perhaps.
No, he scolded himself, killing that idea in its tracks. He was already behind on his work, which meant he needed to be here. In his office, doing work. Not out there. He attempted to refocus, and this time he slipped into a state of mind he could work with, his gaze only occasionally drifting to his office door. Wondering if someone might show up when her shift was over.
Not that he was hoping she would, because her presence was… detrimental to his work environment. No, he wasn’t hoping that at all.

[ Yaaaaaya ] [ hmmmmm depends on sci-fi cause I have a few that could be sci-fi but they are also fairy tale retellings like the Lunar Chronicles and one book called Stiching snow. But other then those not much. I haven't read a pure sci-fi novel since Across the Universe ]
Should I go back? Should I stay? I mean....break is coming up but...
The thought swam through Sybil's mind as she watched the game in front of her unfold, tapping her fingers on the table as she tapped people out and eliminated those caught twice, doing her tricks here and there to draw more people. The more people she had the better her pay would do which would be calculated by...a certain Gansey. Her eyes darted back behind her sometimes when she turned around, trying to get into her work and not focus on Will. "Boy's come on you're loosing me. Y'all suck at cheating" She joked with the men, dragging up a stool so she could sit down and watch them. They chuckle as they kept on going, she handed out cards when needed, sometimes sneaking a extra King into a hand or taking away a queen. Whatever it took to keep the game rolling. She kept looking towards the other dealers tables, trying to get a look at their games and hopefully see Eliza but with this crowd of people it was hard.
The thought kept rattling in her head though and it wouldn't go away. It made her chest feel....weird. Like there was something lodged in her throat and she couldn't get it out. He probably would just tell her to leave anyway, take a hike or just make lame comments at her. In fact the last thing he probably needed right now was her hanging around, did he even like it when she was around? When they weren't in front of others did he even...enjoy her company? She was taking this a little too extreme but still that's what she did. Before she knew it the first game was already done, a young man winning all the coins and gems sitting on her table. "Well well, the thief got away with a large helping of money tonight. Better luck next time boys" Sybil said, adding a wink to their fleeting forms as they cleared out, giving Sybil enough time to reset her table and draw more vicitms over to gamble away their lunch money.
But instead of doing that, Sybil found herself just sliding the cards into a neat deck and moving away from her table. It wasn't really her break yet but Richter can eat her boot if he had a problem. There were plenty of other card dealers going on, and plus she couldn't work with these thoughts and....and if there's one thing she hated it was not being able to work. She slipped past those in the crowd, rubbing her neck and running her fingers through her hair. What did she plan on saying uh? Hey Gansey stop doing all that lame stuff with the words that make me flustered cause...cause I said so? She had no idea. She was upset cause she couldn't work and she couldn't do anything about it. She only ever went into Will's office to annoy him but...she wasn't an idiot alright? She knew how others saw it and she knew that this was all weird and awkward but today it seemed worse then usual or maybe not worse who knew. And yeah sure she....she enjoyed being around Will but then again he was Gansey. Who was known for wominzing girls while in his old gang so...she was probably just another one of them right?....
She prayed to the gods she was wrong cause she was already in front of his door, basically holding her breathe as she looked at the oak wood and just stared at it. If I stare hard enough it could burst into flames.... But her knuckles were just inches from the door. Should she burst in all angry or should she knock? Kick the door down or just quietly slip inside? She let out a silent groan and accidently let her hand fall hard against the oak door, sending a shiver up her arm as she let out a silent curse.
-
Rei turned around sharply at the sound of her name, her eyes scanning the crowd for a split second before her eyes came to rest on Nerys, looking less pirate and more....like a Lyrian girl who wasn't a pirate. She tugged at the silver vest, like she was sort of ashamed of walking around in bright silver clothing when she already had a head of red hair.
"The kitchen?" Rei said, tipping her head slightly as if wondering why on earth Nerys would want to go to the kitchen but then it dawned on her that people needed to eat. Sometimes Rei forgot about that sometimes, that humans needed food just as much as animals did. "Um...actually yes I do remember..." Rei said, letting her words trail slightly when she realized she didn't really have that much to say other then that. Rei was pretty awkward when it came to normal conversation. "Let's just hope there's enough food for everyone else when you are done then" She added, ignoring the own ping of hunger in her stomach as she thought about hot food. As good as that plum was, Rei wouldn't mind a nice bowl of stew or cooked meat to eat right now. Usually she would sit down with the King and his family and eat but that was only if she had the time. And now well....she really couldn't go around looking for the Raven room so...it wouldn't hurt to look for the kitchen instead.
She nodded her head for Nerys to follow her, gently guiding people out of the way as she walked to create a path towards the side of the room, sometimes glancing back to make sure Nerys was still following behind her and didn't get lost in the sea of gamblers and crooks. When they did exit the main floor she made a beeline for the kitchen, not really hoofing it but staying beside Nerys as they walked....like a normal person. Totally not a captain of the guard wanting to lock her up for plans to kill the royal family. Rei pushed open the doors to the kitchen, taking a quick glance before she pushed the door open fully. There were just a few chefs inside cleaning some stuff up here and there but the smell. It made her stomach tighten and she swore to the gods that she would aid Nerys in eating everything in this room. There was meat sliced and cut on the side in dishes covered with honey, pork that was wrapped in sweet glazed bread sat to another side, and a pot cooking what looked like chunks of chicken and potatoes and onions sat on the stove.
There was a lot more but Rei didn't really care for explaining. More like eating it. The last chef moved out of the kitchen with a stack of dirty plates as Rei moved toward the counter, looking over the foods before her eyes moved back to Nerys. "I'm pretty sure the food in here is equal to the weight of a whale..." She muttered.
-
"And that's how you cheat in poker" Remus said as he watched Atticus shift a couple of chips down his sleeve and then replace them with similar chip colors of the other player. "That's pretty nifty" Atticus said with a grin, placing down the hand of cards he had to the rest. Of course it had to be a good hand because a lot of the players groaned and cursed, tossing in their cards as they left the table along with the large pile of money. "Aren't they gonna take their money?" Atticus asked, little stupid head right here didn't know that he won the game and he got all that money as a result. "No Eius, that's your money. You know cause you won the game...take it! Spend on something nice, a hair cut, a girlfriend, a boyfriend, a orange if you want" Remus said, patting little Atticus on the shoulder when he made this face of Whoa no way. Atticus never knew the value of money essentially because he always had a lot of it in the first place.
You know, Prince? Royal family? Future king to a whole country?
Then again he had to begin playing with money someday. So why not now? He scooped up the money in his hands and kind of just awkwardly stood there with it for a bit before Remus took out a little red pouch and had him put the money in, and then placed it onto his belt. "You'll get use to it soon boy...You have that face that is perfect for cheating, lying, stealing. Even murder" Remus said with a happy grin, making Atticus flinch slightly at the sound of that. "You remind me of well...me when I was your age...which wasn't that long ago so don't even open that mouth" Remus snapped his fingers and drew Atticus and himself away from the poker table. "What made you want to join a gang anyway?" Atticus asked Remus, the question lingering on his tongue for a while.
"I enjoy it."
"Because....? Your family is in the business or...?"
"Nope. Just me. My family are all designers for suits, very rich family. Loving mother, loving father. Wonderful brothers...I just like the idea of working in a gang. It's like a drug. Once you get in you can't get out, and frankly I enjoy beating people to death sometimes." Remus explained, the look on Atticus's face would make you snort out the drink you had in your mouth if you saw him. "It's relaxing...but enough about me! You enjoy spending some money, and I'll check with Dante to see if he's ready to see you guys. He's very excited you know. I haven't see him this excited since he burned Mark Twnags tavern down" Remus patted Atticus on the back, said his farewell before leaving Atticus to stand there in horror as he came to realize that not even the man he thought was sane....was sane. Either way Atticus was left to his own again and frankly he didn't trust himself to gamble away the money he just earned. Remus had guided him through the last game of poker and it was just Atitcus's dumb luck that won it out for him in the end.
So Atticus went about to look for someone else....At first he was going to go to Sybil's table but the girl was already up and leaving when he got close enough. Probably to deal with boy trouble...or punch something. He spotted Rei in the crowd of a second but she was walking around with Nerys the Pirate-who-wants-to-kill-Atticus-and-his-family girl. So really he didn't have much of a choice here. But....he did see someone after a while of wondering around saying hello to players here and there. And frankly the cheekbones were a dead giveaway. "Heulfryn!" Atticus called out, a smile spreading on his lips as if they were best friends who were meeting up for a play date.

《 eep >.< I'm a lame-o jk and basically just spent my whole Saturday night doing homework so I didn't have time for a full reply.
But I couldn't resist typing up a little swible because these two are my favourite dorks
If you're ever in the mood for some real good sci-fi you should read Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff because damn that book is pretty. In every way. Or should I say bookS because I just finished the equally amazing sequel 》
Will jumped to his feet at the sound of a single loud knock on the door, knocking his chair over and - more importantly - spilling his vile of ink. He let out a less than silent curse, moving forward just as quickly to set the little bottle upright. He hadn't lost all of it, luckily, but it looked like he was still going to have more of expensive dark liquid added onto his tab. He wasn't sure why exactly they needed such a specific, premium kind of ink for their documents - perhaps as a way of insuring no one had swapped them out for fake ones - near black but not quite, actually a very, very deep blue if you looked closely, a midnight sky. Now it was coating what little work he'd managed to get done.
He wiped the excess away quickly, throwing the ruined papers in the trash and picking up his chair. There, all better - except for the mess he'd made of himself. There was ink splattered on his white shirt - his jacket tossed safely in the corner earlier and invisible on his black vest - and a little smudged on his cheek. His hair was a tousled mess from the number of times he'd run his fingers through it. Blissfully unaware of all this, and too mentally preoccupied to check, he crossed to the door, pulling it open towards him -
He started, instinctively straightening. “Sybil,” he said, surprised. He thought of the crash of the chair a moment ago, his swearing. He rubbed the back of his neck, gestured vaguely behind him. “I, uh, dropped something.” He explained lamely. A quick glance toward the clock behind him. “I thought you were working until -” eleven thirty, he almost said. He had her work schedule memorized - was that normal? He didn't even remember doing it consciously, and he definitely did not want to think about what that meant. “I thought you were working tonight.” Will amended. Oh no, this was all wrong. Since when did he act like some awkward teenage boy? (Actually, a lot of the time, but that was beside the point) He gave her a smile, opening the door wide enough so she could step inside. “No matter; my office is always open for you.” He announced it with his usual dramatic flair, but sounded as if he meant it. Maybe. It was always hard to tell with Will, wasn't it?
So why was she here, and not at the tables, he wondered. It was too soon for a break, wasn't it (and again, he wondered when he'd learned all her break times, when he might expect her to visit him)? He looked her up and down, a thought occurring to him suddenly. “Is something wrong? Are you alright?” Will phrased it casually, but there was a seriousness to his tone. That had to be why she was here, right? Sybil didn't usually quit on her job, not unless there was a reason. If anyone had messed with her… Something burned in his gut. If anyone had messed with her, he would go and hunt them down, give them twice the pain they had given her.

[ that's fine, I've had to work on my English paper which is due tomorrow by midnight ;v; Can you feel the Swible toniggghhtttt? ] [ I have heard of that book and honestly I was wanting to get a copy since the sequel has come out but like waiting on some kind of feedback about it. I'll have to look for it when I go to the book store next ]
Sybil seemed to straighten just as Will had when seeing her, her hair falling down over her eyes a bit as she just kind of stood there opening her mouth and closing it. Talk stupid She thought to herself, darting her eyes down as all her previous thoughts were tossed out the window and she was scrambling for a plan B. "You dropped...something? It wouldn't happen to be that expensive ink?" Sybil asked, not in a sarcastic tone of voice but like a actual, curious tone of voice. She didn't really turn around as she slipped past him, just fiddling with her fingers as she tried to think of something to say to him. Why didn't you just tell Remus about the pictures? Not like I would have gotten punished but just scolded. Why did you have to take a bite of my apple, Why...why are am I always thinking about your stupid actions Gansey? GODS that sounded CHEESY. She wanted to say but they just got caught up in her throat that a strangled 'meep' escaped her mouth. And he knew something was wrong, she probably looked like a kicked puppy. Did he think someone hurt her? Did she look like someone had hurt her or something? If anyone even tried to mess with her believe me, she wouldn't be running to Will because she was looking for comfort. She would be beating the snot out of said person and thus drag them to the basement where she could really do a number on their face.
But the idea of him being...worried...warmed her heart a bit. Maybe even a little flutter.
So Sybil turned around at his questions, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked up at him. "Um...I do I just...decided to take a break. The first game went by pretty fast so I just thought I could take a...break cause...just cause" She stammered slightly, tapping her foot against the floor as she looked up at him. "No one messed with me if that's what you think, nothing is wrong...." She began, feeling her doors suddenly slam shut in her brain. Shut him out before he gets the idea something else is wrong, shut everything out and replace it all with sarcasm and teasing. Make him all flustered until his face is red and leave with a grin on your face or until he gets you equally upset and you storm out of here angry. That was what she wanted to do, she wanted to take the ink and just toss it on the ground and run just to get a rise out of him, she wanted to take his coat and run and...and just do anything but stand here. Her chest felt all light and her stomach churned, threatening to toss up her apple from earlier. And her next words only made that worse. "...Actually that's a lie. Something is wrong." She said softly.
She turned around slowly and looked up at Will, her stomach tightening as she looked up at him. Just s-say it. Say something. Say 'Gansey you're an idiot but I want to know...if there will ever be....if we could...just.... She felt the words form on the tip of her tongue but nothing came out, and she felt her heart pick up as panic started to set in. Oh no oh no oh no oh no. She wasn't freezing up right? She was just here to tell him that whatever they have been dancing around needs to stop cause it was messing with her. With her work. "There is something bothering me...and it's getting in the way of my work and I hate that. So....there's...." She tried to get out a sentence, her hands going to the end of her vest and nervously gathering up the expensive cloth in her sweaty hands. Something I want to ask. She just had to say those words and then just ASK HIM. But instead she did something instead. She went and grabbed a few tissues from a box on the stand and came back to him, having to stretch herself to rub at his cheek. "There's i-ink on your fa-face" She stuttered, nervously rubbing at his cheek.
If anything she was making things worse by smudging it into his skin further then cleaning it. She had one hand on his shoulder while she struggled to stay on her tip toes, those gray eyes focused on the smudge and not his face cause she was sure if she did anything else she would fall over.

《 Yes well 10/10 would recommend the Illuminae Files series. So beautiful. Both visually and content wise 》 《 yuck homework. But same honestly. Too much work HAHA YOU HAD TO KNOW IT COULDN'T BE THAT EASY 》
《 I like making my characters suffer a lil can you tell? Gansey you nerddddd 》 《 Also no shame I 100% referenced Harry Potter here - I couldn't think of another word for a thing 》
Will blinked. “Yes, actually - Don't tell Remus, please. How did you-?” He glanced down at his shirt. Ah, so that's how she'd figured it out. Well, looks like he needed another white shirt, then. Another thing to add on his tab. His eyes followed her as she slipped past him, and wondered what he was supposed to do with the door. Leave it open? That left it pretty loud in here. Close it? He wasn't sure… For some reason the thought of closing the door, sealing off a little room for just the two of them, made him want to empty the contents of his lunch on the floor - he hadn't even eaten dinner, with all that was on his mind. A pair of very giggly youngsters ran by the door, talking brightly about something or other.
He closed the door.
Will's green eyes never strayed from Sybil as he listened to her. She was a bit of a jumbled mess. It wasn't her break but she was taking one anyway? Well, that did sound rather like Sybil after all. But why she'd choose to come here was beyond him. To come to him. And she was stuttering and fidgeting and it was making him nervous. More so than he'd been already. Had he been nervous upon seeing her show up here? Maybe. More like… tense. Very tense. But - oh, something was wrong? She turned around slowly, her grey eyes rising to meet his. His heart pounded, and there she was, not saying anything. Just standing there. “Sybil? What's… You can tell me, whatever it is.” His voice came out slightly wobbly, slightly strained.
And then Sybil was walking toward him with a tissue in hand. “What?” Will reached up a hand to the wrong cheek, trying to rub it off. He reached out a hand for the tissue, but instead she reached up and tried to rub it away herself. He froze, staring at her, her face only centimeters from his own, her own gaze intently on his cheek. Her other hand was on his shoulder, while both of his hung lamely at his sides, He was close enough to study the colour of her eyes - not just a single stormy grey but a whole sky of different clouds. He was close enough to count the individual freckles on her cheeks. Will's eyes dipped a little further downwards. He was close enough to kiss her. And boy, did he want to kiss her. His breath caught in his throat, and carefully he placed a hand on her waist to steady her, the other coming up to cup her cheek. “Sybil… What…” He couldn't get the words out, not over the craziness that was currently going on in his head. He leaned in, closing the distance halfway… Oh no oh no oh no.
“What do you know about magizoology?” Will blurted, pulling away quite abruptly. He turned, rushing to the crammed bookshelf behind his desk. It was kind of a mess, and mostly full of his predecessor’s things - random history texts and journals and that sort of thing. He pulled out a huge, weathered text, the leather bindings worn although it had clearly been well looked after. It had every sign of a well loved book. He set it on the desk, looking everywhere but at her, cheeks flushed like he'd run a marathon, heart pounding. He realized as he reached to flip open the book that his fingers were shaking. Oh gods, he was shaking all over. Why was he such a mess? Why had he thought for even a second that he wasn't helplessly attracted to Sybil Rye? Of course, if she knew… She’d probably beat me to a pulp. “I mean, of course, th-the biological study of magical creatures. I was thinking earlier about the alp-luachra,” He flipped to a page depicting a salamander-like creature. “Parasites, of a sort. They're also known as joint-eaters, because they crawl down your throat and feed off your stomach contents. Nasty buggers, and hard to be rid of,” he rambled on, staring fixedly at the page.
--
One game in and Heulfryn was already rolling in the dough. He pulled his new stack of coins towards him as the other three players stood, looking thoroughly put out at having lost so sourly. He twirled a gold coin between his fingers, glimmering as it caught in the light cast from the chandeliers. “Well, boys, we got ourselves a winner for this round - but fortune changes its favor in the blink of eye. Fancy another round?” The card dealer called merrily, back to shuffling the cards in fans and waves, as he’d been doing before the game. He didn’t even have to look at his hands. The three other men exchanged a look - they had not come together, but had been momentarily bound together in the way losers sometimes were. Two of them shook their heads, heading off in search of another game. But the third… he was older, a little more portly, a little more stuffed up. And he had the eyes of someone who didn’t like losing something they thought was theirs. Piggy, Heulfryn thought, his lips curling ever so slightly as he held the man’s gaze.
Indeed, greed and pride were enough to sway the older fellow, for he sat back down in his chair. “No harm in one more round, now is there?” Replied the Pig Man merrily, eyes locked on the stack of jewels in front of his opponent. “Can’t let a strapping young lad like yourself get the best of us masters, right son?”
Heulfryn chuckled quietly. “No, I suppose not.” I have lived ten times your lifetime. So no, Heulfryn couldn’t let a young lad like him get the best of him.
“Very well then, sirs. Let’s found ourselves a few new friends and we’ll get on our way.” Alcedo was a four person card game, which meant they still needed another two players before it could start. Luckily, it was also a popular game amongst the Noridians these days, and he could already see several people in his periphery sizing the table up - sizing up the pile of coins in front of the young man in the emerald green suit.
And then; “Heulfryn!” The man in question groaned quietly as Eius called his name, sounding chipper as ever and smiling like they were the best of buddies. Nope, same Eius, despite the change in appearance. A kid in a gangster’s suit. He sighed, sweeping his bounty away into a pouch and standing from the table. He ignored the round of protests from the portly man, the insistent attempts of the chummy-accented card dealer to get him to stay. “Apologies, I have more important business to attend to,” he said unapologetically, already heading for where a certain wayward merchant boy was standing. “Eius!” He greeted with a convincing smile, clapping the boy on the shoulder a little too roughly. It was his eyes that spoke the threats. “It’s been… too long.” You’ve been here too long, kid. Fun’s over. His arm was still on the young man’s shoulder, the gesture friendly to any onlookers. A guiding hand. “How about a walk?”
How about a walk? A question that was not a question.
--
Nerys chuckled. “Yes, a kitchen. That is what you call that in this country, right? A place where the food is made.” She replied, although she was sure the girl knew exactly what she meant. “Ceghen in my native tongue. Køtche in yours, right? You said you were from Yokai.” Nerys knew basic words in at least a dozen languages, things she’d picked up in different ports on the continent. Eventually, you learned the words you needed to in order to communicate what you wanted to get. So actually, she had no idea if the word Køtche meant kitchen, just that it communicated to the people in the port towns of Yokai that she wanted to get to where the food was made. Then again, she had no idea if the people in the country’s bigger cities even commonly used their traditional language anymore. In most kingdoms nowadays it was always the common tongue in cities - it was the tiny backwoods places, the trader’s ports, that held onto the traditional ways. Speaking of Yokai… “Grifthelm. That’s a rough place to be - or so I’ve heard.” She gave the small red haired girl a sidelong glance as they walked. It was a leading statement, not that she had any idea if the girl would pick it up. She didn’t seem… the most conversational.
She pretty much forgot her own question as they rounded on the kitchen however. The smell was enough to have Nerys’s mouth watering. There was indeed enough food in there to equal the weight of a whale. Her eyes travelled over the options, roast meats and vegetables and fresh breads and soups and oh gods was she hungry. She grinned at Rei, a little giddy at the sight of it all. “I’m going to try everything.” Nerys told Rei seriously. Everything. That would be challenging, considering the amount of dishes laid out, but Nerys had always had trouble walking away from a challenge. She was the kind of person that did crazy things for the sake of a bet - even if it didn’t involve any winnings (although it never hurt to up the odds).
Nerys grabbed a plate off a stack of clean dishes, proceeding to pile up her plate. A tiny serving of each dish, enough for a bite of every individual thing. She got about halfway through the array of dishes available before her plate was full, almost overflowing. There was no table in the kitchen, so she hopped up on a bit of out-of-the-way countertop and tucked in. She stabbed a bit of honey-glazed ham on her fork and popped it in her mouth. She tipped her head back, groaning. “Soooo gooood.” She moaned, except with her mouth full it translated more to Rrroo freuuhd.

[ the swible is strong thou I WILL NOT DENY I'll make sure to grab it and add it to my immortal pile of books ] [ what fun would it be without suffering These two I swear to sweet baby jesus] [ There is never shame when referencing Harry Potter. There is only joy cause why not reference HP. ]
whoa whoa
Sybil was highly aware of how close they were together. How she just made the inky spot on his face worse instead of making it better, how her own body trembled slightly with the force of keeping on her toes and also just being this close to him. The last time she was this close to him? Never that's when. When he spoke his breathe brushed her face and her face lit up like a light, her yes finally dragging away from the ink spot to his face and...and when did his hand get to her other cheek? Whe-when did his hand get to her waist? She found herself staring at him, her hand lowering from his cheek slightly with her heart pattering in her chest. Oh god this was it? Was it? She couldn't tell honestly, she was just really aware of how close he was....getting. He was edging closer, the space between them closing and her heart picking up faster and faster. Was he going to kiss her? Was she going to kiss him well of course she wanted to. Never thought she would even think this but she wanted to kiss William Gansey. She wanted to kiss him and she wanted him to want to kiss her. Did that make sense? Who cared at that point, she didn't really care. She didn't realize how badly she wanted to kiss Will un-
Until he moved....away.
The moment he moved from her, she lost her balance a little and stumbled back, blinking as she looked at the spot where he stood. Where he had a moment ago was holding her waist and she was admiring the faint smile lines on his face from of course all those stupid grins he had on his face. How she wondered how soft his hair was and how much she loved his eyes and....just about everything that a normal head-over-heels girl thought when that close to someone they cared about. When he moved toward the bookshelf rambling on about something, she just stood there for a moment all tense and frustrated at how this was. But then disappointment set in where frustration had sat, her shoulders slumping slightly and her eyes looking toward the ground before she just gently crumpled up the tissue and tossed it aside. "I've heard of it...I read about it. You lent me that book over the summer remember?" She said, turning around to expect seeing a man well put together with just a tickle in his throat. She instead saw a man that was about as red in the face as she was.
She didn't know if she should move towards him or not. It was rather awkward now and she...and she didn't want that. She didn't want to wake up tomorrow and be dancing around this same thing every day until he eventually found someone pretty and nice unlike her who was....mean and horrible, and brash and just everything but what William Gansey went after. It was only because of the heat of the moment...he didn't know what he was doing She thought and it was such a nasty thought. It stung, it made her breath wobble and catch in her throat. She was mean to him every day and she expected him to like her? Maybe it was because of all the flirtatious jabs he made her way or something that made her think. She let her eyes wonder away from Gansey and toward the floor, thinking about all of this and feeling overwhelmed just so fast. Her hands went back down to her vest to crumple the fabric under her now really sweaty hands - oh god why was it so hot in here all of a sudden? But cold? Was it here or was it the darn circulation in the building? "I'm sorry Will..." she muttered, looking at her hands as she spoke. Normal panic was starting to set in, her feet shuffling a bit toward the door.
Girls that had their hair pinned up, who wore skirts and high heels. Those were the girls Gansey wanted and she was just getting in the way because she thought he liked her.. Because she thought she had a chance. She wanted to run out of that office but she was sure if she went back to the tables she would be off her rocker and wouldn't care about being flashy and interesting. That and people would ask where she was, why she left early. If she were to go to her room or her tiny library then people would ask what was wrong and blah blah blah. So she literally was just....standing there like a idiot. "I can leave...if I'm bothering you"
-
Rei lifted an eyebrow at Nerys and surprisingly, let her lips turn into a little smile. She would have told Nerys that she wasn't wrong and that Køtche did relate to food. It meant To be Hungry but then again people in Yokai would sometimes refer to a kitchen using that term. The language in Yokai was vast and different, sometimes it would be different in some parts and the same in another. In Grithelm, it was mandatory to learn the native language and then some. You had to not only know Yokai's tongue and the native tongue but also those spoken across the seas and in small villages. Old languages and those that were just created. Grifthelm was the breeder of certain people with certain skills. Grifthelm was known for their assassins and killers and the house hold she lived in, she didn't blame them for thinking that.
Instead she focused on the food as well, hesitantly getting a plate just as Nerys had and went to plucking up a little bit of everything she has never seen before. Or tasted. Her plate wasn't as full as Nerys's but it was still a lot for Rei to consume since she really didn't eat that much in one sitting. She decided to lean against the counter that Nerys sat on, looking at the food on her plate for a moment and wondered if it was that good. The palace was suppose to have the best chefs in the country, and she had her share in tasting great food before. And bad food. Even food that wasn't really considered...'food' really. So when she took a bite of the pork wrapped in bread backed to a golden brown state she nearly let out the same reaction as Nerys. But instead she settled for a little intake of breathe before taking more bites. Clearly the best chefs in the country were working here and not at the palace. Rei could even tell the difference! This pork was juicy and the bread was flakey and sweet, like it was glazed in honey. The pork that is usually cooked at the palace was always dry and hard to chew sometimes, not to mention the bread was never this fresh tasting.
She totally forgot about being the Captain of the guard, eating with a girl that wanted to kill the whole royal family. "This is...this is something else" She said between mouthfuls of food, a real smile coming to her lips when she ate more. Pretty soon her plate was clean and her stomach was full...but if they were to find cake she wouldn't hesitate to eat into that. When you live with men of much taller then you and must keep to a strict work out routine in order to stay in shape you tend to have a stomach the size of a grown mans. So Rei could easily eat her own weight in food and maybe even both her's and Nerys if you gave her the right push. But for now she just set the plate down and let the food bliss claim her. "I haven't eaten anything that good in a while" She muttered after a moment, the food easing her lips open to conversation. Her eyes swerved to Nerys's, expecting the girl to hop down and actually fill her plate again.
Rei was really sure that Nerys could eat a whales worth of food at this point.

"A walk? Really?" Atticus said, happy at first. Happy that Heulfryn seemed to change from his attitude of being all grumpy to a more light hearted person. That is until Atticus looked up and saw the look he was giving him and the weight of his hand on his shoulder made him wiggle. "How fun..." Atticus said, letting out a tiny huff. Great, now what? What had Atticus done that made people just dislike him or think he was the kind of kid that was easy to push around? Was it how he behaved? For being happy instead of a sad and grumpy like so many people? He chose to look at the light side and meet the day with a smile instead of a frown thank you. So what if he acted a little bit like a boy and not his actual age. He wasn't to be king for a while, but he knew how to act like man. He knew how to sit up straight and give someone the stink eye, he knew how to be threatening but he didn't want to. It wasn't him. Atticus glanced toward some faces turned toward them as they walked past, silently wishing Remus would emerge from the crowd and get him back.
But Remus was busy chatting up a girl in the back while greeting those walking in, the two chuckling and laughing like old pals. Maybe they were who knew? Atticus cringed slightly before twisting out of Heulfryn's grip like a little snake, his footstep practiced as he instead slipped from the mans grasp and let his own arm guide Heulfryn away from where he was taking him. "You know as much as I love a walk why not we talk to people and stay in sight of...people?" Atticus said through a smile. Cause you look like you could kill me and really, you could Atticus thought, at points forgetting that Heulfryn was a magical being. And magical beings were well...capable of killing humans and those alike. And the last thing Atticus needed was being one of those people. What if he knows who you are? A sudden thought popped into Atticus's brain and panic came rushing in.
Oh gods what if the man knew he was the prince? Those guards in the tavern today did give a description of Atticus. Smoothed back black hair, hazel eyes. Minus the silver vest jacket with the red collar, Atticus was just that right now. Smoothed back hair, hazel eyes just wearing a very black and gold jacket. And what if...what if Heulfryn was going to take him to the back alley to slice his throat open and then drag his body to Nerys and be like Well one down, three to go~! Oh geez he couldn't even think about being dead right now. He didn't want to be dead like his great grandfather who was killed in a riot, or like his great-great-grandfather who was decapitated when he was 23. Atticus liked having a head.
"I-in fact we could go see Eliza at the card tables! I'm pretty good at cards you know. Anything but...walking" Atticus awkwardly punched Heulfryn in the shoulder while also wondering if it would be uncivilized to run through the lobby screaming like a frightened little school girl while getting chased by a large man that could make his head go smash.
"Or like....we could just not walk. We could stand here...in front of people"
"....I'm allergic to walking"

《 Ha I see watchu did there. It's Halloween and I have a lot of muse but I'm also tired and am having trouble staying awake so yeah I have replies planned for Nerys and Heulfryn and agghhgbsh shame Never shame for referencing HP. Always love for HP. 》
Will was still rambling on about the magic faerie newts. “So according to myth, in order to get the Alp-luachra out of your stomach, you have to consume tons and tons of salt,” he was saying, worried that if he stopped she might bring up what had almost just happened. What he'd almost just done. “Since they feed off the essence of what you eat, the salt will render them thirsty. Therefore forcing them, when you lie down near the water and open your mouth, they’ll crawl back out. I wonder, though, if they might have a medicinal use - if one were to have accidentally consumed something harmful -” He broke off at the sound of her voice.
Will blinked. Once, twice. “Bothering me? What? Sybil, no.” He was still having trouble looking at her straight on. But - “Don't even think that - you… You never bother me, Sybil.” He swallowed, feeling a lump in his throat. Then he chuckled softly. “That's my job, remember?” He cursed under his breath and finally forced his eyes to focus on her. “Gods, I'm the one who should be sorry, Sybil, I -” Will's words died in his throat. And then he died a little, slowly and silently. Here lies William Enoch Newton Gansey III. Cause of death; fatal mortification. May he rest in peace.
“Um…” He started awkwardly. Face flaming, his eyes trailed down to his hands. Fingertips; dark blue, ink-stained. Then his eyes jumped back to Sybil. To the place he'd moments ago had her face in his hand; smudged now with dark blue ink. They drifted down to the front of her shirt, which had been pressed against his torso, to her waist. Ink-stained. Will dragged his fingers through his hair nervously, snapping his hand away when he realized that may well just extend the damage. “Sybil, I think… I may have gotten ink on your face. And your uniform.” He took a step towards her, away from the desk. Stopped. What was he supposed to do? He was made of awkward. He took a deep breath, shook his head. And then he started laughing.
He wasn’t sure why he was laughing, exactly. Maybe just the ridiculousness of it all. The ridiculousness of him. “I… Sorry. I’ll help - wash it out, I mean. I think I’ve got the technique down, by now, to get the ink out.” He said, steadier than before. A little jumbled and awkward, still, but the shakiness was gone. He smiled, tentatively. “But it’s best to do so as soon as possible. I could do it right now, if you wanted to come up to my room…” Will blinked, reevaluating that last statement. He cringed a little. “For once, ignore the suggestiveness of that last phrase. Unintentional, I swear.” And it had been. For once. Will was on his best behaviour, and he was determined not to make things any worse than he already had.

[ //winks with both eyes// yeeeehhhh ] [ Halloween muse is strong tonight, and tomorrow Christmas Halloween part 2. *flash backs of Game of thrones and the shame meme* ] [ Forever reference and/or quote HP ] [ oh gosh i typed this right after eating candy and just getting off sugar last night xP its a hyped up mess ]
Sybil swallowed the growing lump in her throat as Will just kept on rambling on for a bit. Was he ignoring her? Oh geez did she mess up that bad that he was ignoring her now? But when he did open his mouth, she wasn't going to lie it lifted the weight off her chest a bit. That she wasn't really bothering him but that still didn't excuse what had just happened. She didn't know if she should bring it up or not or if she should just leave it. Just let him ramble on and stand there defeated and sad because he didn't kiss her. That she didn't kiss him. She tipped her head slightly, opening her mouth to speak and tell him that he shouldn't be sorry either. That he never bothered her one bit and that she didn't really hate him. That she was really hoping the goof would actually follow through on that William Gansey attitude for once but at the mention of her uniform being...stained she felt a new panic enter. One that involved being scolded by Remus and then having her uniform repair come out of her next pay check. She did not want to have that happen.
But like the idiot she was, she used her hand to try and smear the ink off her check but only ended up making it worse by spreading it all the way down to the edge of her lips. "Oh" She said, frowning at the now ink spread across the back of her hand. She looked to her chest and inwardly screamed as the dark ink splotvched across the darn brown vest. "Well uh...I mean...." She said, looking up to him, raising an eyebrow when he started laughing. Was this really William Gansey who had hours ago was smiling and making comments like he was the king of the world? Or maybe this was Will Gansey, a awkward man that didn't really know so much about women as she had thought? Sybil tipped her head to the side and took a couple steps toward him, reaching out to grasp the clean part of his shirt sleeve and tug him toward the door. "If you know how to get it out Gansey then let's go. Then maybe you could change into something not so....messy" She said, noting how he had streaks of blue now on his forehand from running his hand through his hair. Her lips tugged up slightly at the sight before looking back toward the door.
She didn't know if she should really say anything else. Should she? Should she dare to risk anything and just step out of her comfort zone for a second? "And you know what Gansey?" She said, slowly walking towards the door. "Next time you do something like that again...." She started, with her usual tone of voice but with no sarcasm. She let her hand twist the doorknob to his office but keep it closed before turning to face him again. She let out a soft sigh, tipping her head slightly like she was all relaxed when really she felt like she was jumping into a shark tank. A bunch of very nervous sharks that are saying Are you sure you wanna jump cause we aren't really prepared. "Don't be sorry, and just do it....I would have liked it, really" She finished, waiting a heartbeat to make sure she had said those words. And that she wasn't joking or trying to be funny, she was being very serious. But her mouth didn't stop moving. "I mean if I thought what you were gonna do back there with...the you know I mean...you know"
OH gods shut up sybil She thought to herself as she twisted the door handle and opened it slightly, the sound of the hall echoing down to the office, just opening it a crack and she could hear a certain red head man yelling about for a certain SYBIL RYE. Who cares at this point, she was already dead inside. Or dying at least. Sybil Natalia Rye, dead just because she finally dropped dead. That sounded good on her headstone. If anything, she couldn't wake up in the morning and pretend this had not happened. Gods she would hate it if it came to that. Cause she was going to do a lot more stupid if it meant they could stop dancing around in circles about this. She didn't want to hear about how Benny wished that they Should just kiss not to mention about how he would stop teasing her about it too. "Now about removing this ink...do you rub or dab at it?"

《 Hey so I just wanted to let you know; my replies are going to be more spaced out for this month. I'm doing NaNoWriMo so I have to write a lot for that plus homework and stuff. I'll still reply as often as I can, but it probably won't be every day. If I don't get a full reply up I'll still be able to chat, or maybe post something short for one character.
But yeah I'm gonna get going on today's words then and if I have time I'll do a reply after c: 》

《 Ok thanks for understanding. That sounds really cool c: a friend of mine did Inktober & I spent the whole month crying jk but still because visual art is not a skill of mine.
I tried. I only got through a couple hundred words though after homework. I'm still trying to find my flow for this story. And world build. Actually double world build because there are two whole worlds. And three main POVs why do I do this to myself Also beginnings are just the worst. 》

《 I'll write like the wind if I can get through all my homework first. Gahhh I've hardly had any time to write even my Nano project with everything else and it's just... bleh.
Yeah I know. It's just hard to start something that seems so big and daunting. I know what I want to write, it's just how to write it that's gettibg me a little stuck. And my characters, too. Like, I know where they're going, but I'm still figuring out who they are at this point in the story. I don't even know if that makes sense cx 》

《 Nope xc but I should have significabtly less work next week. Fingers crossed.
& yeah, something like that.
I got some swible done, at least this post is a mess, fair warning 》
Will sighed internally, relieved as Sybil accepted his offer of help. Good, that meant she didn't completely hate him. At least, not when he could still be of use to her - he chided himself immediately for the thought. Sybil wasn't like that; if she didn't like someone, they'd know. And while she punched and glared and offered up mean retorts to almost everything Will said, he knew she hadn't hated him - at least, not since they'd actually come to know each other. He never would've persisted with his teasing if he'd thought it actually hurt her. But there was big difference between tolerating him and wanting to… well, do what Will had almost initiated. He didn't want to think the word, since he was currently doing alright on the awkwardness scale.
He followed close behind as Sybil crossed to the door, sitting back and letting her do the talking for once. Will just smiled slightly, nodding along - until she got to talking about him. Next time you do something like that… Oh gods, he thought, here it comes. The ‘I put up with you on a good day, but please, let's just be friends’, or maybe the more Sybil-like ‘I'll cut you’. He had been completely unaware of how much he wanted to hear neither until now. Gods, maybe he deserved her rejection for his stupidity. He swallowed, bracing for it. But she said neither of those things, and the alternative was perhaps far worse.
Just do it… I would have liked it, really.
Say what now? He very nearly physically stumbled. Will's brain could process equations - values and variables and exponents and relations - but it had not been designed to process this. The… unfathomability of this newfound information. Sybil Rye would have liked it if he, William Gansey, had kissed her. She, who had been annoyed with him since the day they'd met, had made it clear she wanted none of what he offered. And when they'd become friends, she'd put up with it more, he figured because it was just joking around to her. And it had been, he'd thought. He'd thought of her as someone who was fun to annoy, to push their buttons, who turned around and pushed his right back. He'd respected her guts. Will looked back down at her, blinked, and then nodded. “Right,” he managed, and nodded again. Okay. Next time. Kiss her. Just do it.
And then she turned back to the door, reaching to open it, and her speech turned once again to the topic of the ink. Right, he was supposed to help her wash the ink out of her uniform. While he was at it, he figured it might be beneficial to relearn the technical procedure of breathing, because he was pretty sure he'd forgotten how. He wasn't sure he remembered how to walk, either. Wash the ink. Next time, kiss her. “Um,” he shook his head, as if to clear it. “Right. Don't rub it - that'll make it set faster. We need to -” From the hall, he could hear someone yelling for Sybil. Remus, probably, who hadn't traced her back to his office yet but- she would have liked it. “Oh, hell,” Will breathed, reaching past her to push to door back closed, muffling the sounds pouring in from outside on his little ink-stained office. He stepped in, leaning closer, and without giving himself the chance to change his mind he kissed her.
Will kissed her softly, his lips unassuming. Barely a brush of the lips, slow and gentle and lingering, waiting to see what she might do. A surrender, a rebirth, something for her to shape however she'd like. Her cheeks were held delicately between his hands, forgetting or maybe just ignoring the ink that still marred them. She could dump an entire vat of the midnight blue dye on Will and he might be okay with it. It would wash off eventually. Because this... In that moment there was just this, just them.
After a few heartbeats he pulled away, just far enough so he could see her, which was not very far away at all. He let his forehead rest gently against hers. “Sybil,” he murmured, tracing lines across her cheek with his thumb. “Please don't punch me for that.”

[ Aww that sucks. But yeah hopefully you get the time to work on your project more, fingers crossed. Toes crossed. Everything crossed ] [ will knows sybil too well she would cut a guy lol ] [ Your post is fine, really. My posts are usually a mess anyway, like leaving the lid off a blender ]
Sybil's first thoughts before this event was a mix of embarrassment and relief. Hearing his first couple of words, she thought he just brushed it off as nothing. That it was just a little bit of information that he didn't need to hear and that her first assumption about the little moment they had was right. That they were in the moment and he was only going in cause he felt the need to. It was almost a relief cause then she could go back to being the sarcastic little twerp that she is but also a little hurt at the same time. She would have expected him to say something about it, instead of brushing it off but then again like her earlier thoughts were it was just a heat of the moment. A one sided, one way road between the two and nothing more. Her hand on the handle of the door had tightened, ready to burst out into the main hall and just tell the customers to leave her alone. That her card table was empty for the night and that someone else could fill in. Her pay checks were big enough to where she could miss a little bit of work anyway. It wouldn't matter. At least....that was what she was thinking before Will had pushed the door closed.
"What are yo-" She began to say, hearing Will blabber about the ink one minute and then hearing him curse another. She thought for a minute he made the stain worse or something but instead she was turning around and felt a pair of lips connect with hers. It sent, not gonna lie, a shock through her body to where she shivered and a gasp was caught in her throat. The kiss wasn't rough or heated like some men would want it, but rather soft like he wasn't going to push further unless he knew it was alright with her. Always the gentleman even when getting gushy with the ladies. Sybil on the other hand felt like she couldn't breath for a hot minute, her face heating up probably bright red and her eyes going wide but her lips said something else and responded as best as she could. When he pulled away she let out a few garbled together stutters and incoherent words. Hearing him murmur her name and the touch of his thumb on her face didn't help at all, only resulted in lame giggles escaping from her mouth. That's right. Giggles. Stop it her brain scolded her, her big gray eyes looking up at Will when he spoke again, trying to find a foothold on her emotions. Deep breath, breathe Sybil. It was only a kiss but gosh...it came from Will who she has - she can't believe the words to follow here - fancied as Remus would put it, for a while. Well not at the start, she had thought he was an annoying jerk in the beginning and nearly tried to kill him a few times but when she got over that it was a landslide to here.
"I won't..." She said, her cheeks and the tips of her ears were bright red and goose flesh crawled down her arms. "I can do something else though since we're here" She whispered, waiting a heartbeat before leaning forward to return the kiss she was too frazzled to reciprocate. Her lips pressed to his in a slightly different fashion, not really a light brush of the lips but still gentle enough to say she wasn't going to be pressing further - like some crazy women. To be honest Sybil has only kissed...maybe two guys in her life of living in Noridi. One being Gansey, and the other was some dude she ended up beating up the following day. Anyway, Sybil kissed Will slowly, trying to say that it was alright to kiss or more like a confirmation of his kiss that this was happening. That she was kissing William Gansey and he was kissing Sybil Rye. She didn't even notice her hands drifting up to resting on the back of his neck with a light touch, her fingers curling in the curls found at the nape of the neck. Her other hand resting on his chest, getting some still wet ink on the palm of her hand.
When she pulled away she was almost shaking, the redness of her cheeks spread down to her neck and the dark smears of blue almost seemed purple. The air was still like they were trapped in a little bubble where the world didn't matter. Where Remus, Eliza, Eius, Nerys, Rei and Heulfryn didn't even exist. Who were they? She didn't know. "Um..." She breathed out, trying to think of something to say now, staring at Will as she dumbly fumbled with words in her head. "I told you I would like it" She murmured, her fingers curling in the hair at the back of his neck. Having to balance on the balls of her feet, once more.
To be honest she was tempted to say If this gets too awkward I can still punch you but she kept that to herself to savor the moment
