Squirrelflight thought she was barren right? Then this turned out to be a lie when she had her kits
But if she thought she was unable to have kits why would she even, you know, try to?

Possibility #1: Naturally a cat would put having kits the most important thing a cat could do, so maybe she felt worthless if she couldn't provide any kits for the Clan, so maybe she tried.
Possibility #2: good ol' desire.
But this brings up another question on how Brambleclaw didn't know that the Three weren't his kits.

The same reason that I try the same, even if I'm homo.

Wow, this is an awkward question... ^^"
Okay, well, maybe she and Bramblestar did it, but just weren't planning on having kits? Similar to how some humans do it, but have no plans on having children either. It's not always about reproduction, but desire (and being in heat in the case of animals). Even in the series, cats are surprised when they or their mate is pregnant, like Bluestar or Spiderleg.

I guess the Erins are treating cat sex as human sex? Like, romance and desire, rather than the need to procreate?
Come to think of it, why wasn't Squirrelflight pregnant back in Po3? In order for Bramblestar to have believed the kit story, they must've, er, mated around that time period.

I think Erins are treating cat sex like human sex as they do with everything else in warriors. I figure Squirrelflight and Bramblestar were having sex during that time. Boy isn't this one big awkward convo It's just sex. Nothing really awkward about it.
