I'm starting to wonder if HarperCollins has forbid the Erins from writing extreme deaths, because for a long time now the deaths in the book have been really lackluster. Excluding Gray Wing's death which was amazing, it seems like a lot of the deaths now are so quick. The characters either die off screen, or the enemy kills them in a couple sentences. This didn't start happening until like Power of Three, and especially got worse with Omen of the Stars.
I wonder what happened. It kind of disappoints me, because there were so many memorable deaths from the OS and even TNP. Now days not so much.

I hope not. Harpercollins has basically taken over the series, and I wouldn't be surprised if this were true. I miss the old days, when we actually had decent death scenes. I'd say it's just bad writing, but the quality has actually been pretty good since 2013ish. (Not including BrS... ugh).
Though, as you said, Gray Wing's death scene was amazing.

Eh, I would be kind of numb too if I was writing abot cats for 13 years.

I know right
I think TLH was supposed to have more and better deaths but HC made them change it

Ahh, to think of the days when cats would be dying 9 times consecutively. We should have a cat that looses all his limbs and suffers a few hours of agony before dying
