Dreams. It's a wonder your brain can come up with anything when you're not thinking about it. Is there an on and off switch for dreams? And if so, why would anyone keep it on? Is it going to run out of battery at some point? Poof, no dreams, your brain can't think of any at the time. No dreams, memory storage full. No dreams, too tired to keep on dreaming.
It's really like we never close our eyes; even in sleep, there's still more dreams to dream more places to go people to see adventures to be had. Miracles, horrors, reflected back and back and back onto itself like a tunnel of mirror from some twisted game, echoes and echos until you can't even see what it really is anymore.
Dreams. Sometimes my dreams are exhilarating. That's really the only word for it: exhilarating. I can be more than I am, more than I could even dream of being. In these dreams, nothing matters. I can do whatever I want to do, get away. Have fun, no consequences. These are the good dreams.
Other dreams, we call those nightmares. Shackled to the ground, everything beyond your control. Who knew the mind can be so scary? I do.
But sometimes dreams are just dreams meaningless fairy tales told by some part of your mind you can't understand even when you are awake. You only hear bits of the story, and those parts you hear and see and taste. . . those are dreams. Is there more? Probably. Dreams. Powerful. Minuscule. Meaningless? And a dream is only the beginning.
Anyone want to figure out what that brainplop means cuz I don't. glhf peace ;D

Dreams are weird. x3 I have so many questions about dreams. Why are some more vivid than others? Why do we remember some and not others? How does our brain even create dreams??????? is there some algorithm it uses to piece people/settings/objects/events/emotions together, or does it just randomly throw stuff together (and if so then why/how), etc. and who knows if we'll ever know the answers to these questions.
Interesting brainplop, though. c''x

Same. Dreams are something I've always been interested in, but I've never had the time to take a psych course on them (which I really want to do sometime in the future; I think I'd enjoy that).

Me too. They're so "mysterious" and it's cool. That'd be neat! I hope you get to take it sometime.

I took a psych class, and basically dreams are the product of your brain going through the events of that day. Whatever you saw, smell, or heard or did. Everything. Your brain tries to process it and store it away, and this is played on the back of your eyes. You can only dream when you have entered a deep sleep known as REM sleep. (Rapid Eye Movement). If you've ever watched someone dream, or even seen a dog dream, their eyes and limbs will twitch because they are in that reality in their head. Their is also Lucid dreaming where you are aware you are in a dream and you can control what happens.
Did you know they have made a device to trick your brain into Lucid Dreaming now? It's pretty crazy. I bet a lot of creators will try and get their hands on that. It's perfect, especially for people who struggle with creative thinking.
I liked this a lot, Brownie. Dreams are a great source for writing. (': This flowed nicely, and I liked how you played with sentence structure and diction.

But if your brain is trying to process everything that happened that day, why do completely random people/objects appear in dreams or completely impossible or nonsensical events happen? (Like things your brain would never see/hear/etc. in real life)

It's not entirely understood. Your brain can go through the events of that day by comparing to past events or maybe even past dreams you don't remember. It really is a puzzle, but that's the basic science of it.

Mhm, we had to do a little bit of it in intro psych, but I've always wanted to find a full class on it.
Lucid dreaming always kinda confuses me? Like I've naturally been able to lucid dream for as long as I can remember, so I have no idea what it's like to be 'trapped' in a dream or do something against your will. idk. I guess I don't see the allure of it anymore. xD

It's not all it's said to be. You're a lot more tired the rest of the day, it takes forever to wake up, and its easy to get lost, especially when there's lots of negative emotions. tbh, I wouldn't wish it on anyone, and I don't see why people would want it to happen to them.
There's meditative ways to induce it, I think, if you really wanted to give it a go, but make sure you're emotionally stable otherwise it may be a hell of a ride.
