On a first-name basis with the night

In the foggy mire, So far away, He lurks, he lurks, Fangs gnashing and clawing, And his one eye is aglow.
With hateful desire, He glares, With his pearly eye aglow, Where he's looking, we'll never know.
He sneaks in the night, Afraid of the light, And he brings us great fright, With his immortal eye aglow.
And I grab my blade, I have had enough of this joke, His miasma, his boiling skin, It's enough to make me choke.
I've taken blade, And I lurk through the night, And I see a grand blight, Him and his eye, aglow.
He lunges, teeth brandishing flame, And I hold my fame, and I hole my blade, And I drive it in deep, into that eye, His immortal eye, the one aglow.
And light seems to fade, Dimming and changing, I have finished the mess that's been made, Taken the mortal eye non glowing.
