girls who might be deemed pretty by others can still struggle with self-image. i hate it when people assume that because someone is considered attractive that they're confident with their body this applies to boys too

it just bugs me when people hear someone attractive admit they have image issues and the immediate response is basically "since you're pretty you're not allowed to struggle with such things, you're just looking for attention"

wow an actual good post on the wcrf? what a turn of events
also skinny girls can still think they're too fat and it's not a slight against fat girls for a skinny girl to go on a diet

Thank you for this. I'm called pretty all the time but I hate my appearance and I always get hate for it. People tell me I'm taking my "good looks" for granted and that I'm wasting it and my potential. I just want people to stop telling me stuff like that cause it just makes me feel worse

thank you
even though I'm pretty ugly myself lmao I notice this happening with other girls (and even guys as well) and it gets on my nerves how much people say 'oh ur pretty stop doing this attention-[bleep]" and it's like??? these people can have body issues too...

I've been told by a lot of people that I'm pretty (more in the cute sense than "drop dead gorgeous"). And some days I'll look in the mirror, my hair will be perfect, the lighting good, and I'll agree with them. But other days I'll only see what I perceive as flaws: my jaw is too square, my teeth crooked and yellowed, hooded eyes.
Also, sometimes people try to make everything into the fact that I'm conventionally attractive. I'll say I don't wear make-up (it irritates my face), and girls will assume it's because I think it's beneath me, and will say "Because you don't need it" with thinly veiled annoyance. I've also been told that I don't need to be talented or smart, because my face will work for me. Or I'll be having a bad day, and people will tell me I'm not allowed to be upset because I'm a pretty white girl. :/
Being considered attractive doesn't mean someone's life is better. It doesn't necessarily make it easier, either.
