Awesome, thank you!)
If Mackenzie was happy about anything today, it was her day off. A day off meant freedom from the prison that equaled work. She hated her job. It confused her too much, and quite frankly, Mackenzie was not even sure how she has not gotten fired yet. Her job required speaking to people, and Mackenzie tried to avoid that when she could. She hated being around people. Male or female, young or old, good or bad. They were all the same: slightly annoying and can't take a hint. Wonderful view of society wasn't it? The few friends she has have asked her every now and then why she bothers to stay in Battery City. The answer was plain and simple, she did not want to go and die out in the vast desert surrounding the city. She would not be alone either way anyway. Those annoying zonerunners were always out there too, with their bright colors and ridiculous names. It made her want to vomit. Although, she would be too cowardly to say anything to their face if she met them anyway. And probably end up being killed by them or the desert eventually did not sound like a promising life. It was not even the way she would want to go down.
Mackenzie was headed down and out of her living quarters and into the street, well, the sidewalk. She was free to go watch out now and not bring her lunch again to work. Packing lunches was work in itself and Mackenzie was lazy to say the least. She looked at the sidewalk below her feet, not bothering to pay attention to much around her. In her opinion it was a waste of time and energy that she did not have. It was not until she bumped into someone did she look up. Mackenzie would have told him to watch where he was going but number one, she was at fault, and number two, she was not rude enough to allow the words to leave her mouth.

(that makes me wonder if mackenzie will become a Zonerunner herself.... oo)
Leo felt someone bump into him as he finished talking, and his eyes went wide in mild surprise as he whirled his head around to look at whoever had indeed bumped into him. His eyes fell upon a shorter brunette girl who was one who didn't exactly have a smile on her face, unlike the rest of them. Knowing this was strange, Leo waved to her and greeted her. "Hey!" He cheerily said, smiling at her an hoping she was not a Zonerunner herself. There were rumours about Zonerunners becoming normal everyday citizens, which Leo thought was kind of weird but kind of nice. Maybe if this legend was true, they are happy with their new lives and would never like to go out on the Zones ever again. Just maybe. "How are you?" He asked, brushing a stray strand of messy brown hair out of his eyes. He vaguely wondered why exactly she had no smile on... maybe she was one of those famed Zonerunners? No, that could not be... it was unlikely anyways. Highly unlikely. Rumours most of the time were just that. Rumours. But sometimes, rumours were based on a speck of fact, and that was what really worried Leo. But he shoved those worrying thoughts out of his mind and focused on the here and now.

''Ah! A new person! Golly jee! Sure is a busy day today! He went over to Leo's side. I am Steve Jobs the Second!'' He said, loud and proud as he interrupted, the obese, little man greeted. Oh! How he loved making new acquaintances! It just made him happy, but he had to remember, his only friend was the BLI! His god! His savior! Oh, ho ho! Oh, ho, ho. How he loved it all.
Even he enjoyed the suffering of others.

Mackenzie's eyes went wide as well as his, she sometimes had the tendency to mirror other people's reactions. It was another curse of her's. Her other one's included her shyness, height (occasionally), and her not being like everyone else. When she saw them all smiling it worried her. It was like a zombie apocolypse. Just less groans and snarls but 'how are you?' And smiles. They seemed to act like the dead in a way also. Always keeping the same dumb smirk on their face and an attitude or pleasure that never went away. It was the reverse zombie apocalypse. However, she dared not say anything like that out loud. It could get her in trouble. Although she had not seen anyone get in trouble, she did not want to start with her. Not today, not any day.
She looked up with a perplexed look on her face at the man. He was one of them too. She let her gaze wander elsewhere but replied to him in a very tired and annoyed tone of voice, "Fine thanks. Besides falling and dying after running into you." She said with a slight hint of humor. She had a bit for dark humor once you got to know her, but she never talked to most people. Not even a nod of her head to acknowledge their presence.
(That would be very intresting...)

He knew his thoughts were wild and far-fetched, oh definitely, but Leo still couldn't help but think about those rumours. She didn't look quite right to him, maybe because she didn't have a smile and honestly wasn't as happy as the rest of the citizens walking around them at this moment. It almost creeped him out, but Leo shoved those thoughts aside before he could really go into them and get stuck in a hole he had dug himself into filled with thoughts about the Zonerunners infiltrating Battery City and all kinds of strange situations that were so unlikely it wasn't even funny anymore... but in the almost drugged-like state Leo was in at the moment because of the BLI issued pills anything goes in the now desolate place called his head. He shook his head, shrugging. "I'd say watch out." Was really all he could make himself say in an awkward situation quite like this. Oh well, there were so many other citizens to meet and greet that this one would soon be forgotten by him and this memory of meeting a strange stranger gone along with it.

Mackenzie let out a half laugh half scoff when he replied. They were all obviously on those pills. She took them maybe once or twice a week, but not the recommended amount, usually less. And her taking them was only when she got angry and didn't want to turn the anger physical. Not that she could do much, but her behavior could alert someone and then Mackenzie would end up getting dragged off to who knows where. "You don't say?" She told him sarcastically. "What next, should I keep breathing? Because I obviously need that advice too." She snapped. But immediately regretted doing so. Hopefully he wasn't the type to go tattle on her to the authorities as a possible 'threat'. Mackenzie shifted a little but straightened up, trying to show that she meant what she said and wanted to say it too. Nervous behavior just gave them a reason to blackmail her. They could say they will report her if she steps out of line again. Or get her to do favors because they saw what she did that one day.

(ok i'll admit it, I'm being really lazy rn so that's why I didn't respond sooner xD)
(I might also bring in a character in bat city that was once a zonerunner... just sayin)
Okay, Leo was kind of worried. Why was she answering in such a harsh way? Weren't they all happy here? Or supposed to be at least? He was confused as well. This girl's behaviour was setting off some red flags, as it really should be right about now. It was clear she was 'annoyed', as the old saying goes. Was that a saying? He didn't really know. Or remember. Same thing, right? Who knows, honestly. "Are you okay?" He asked, cocking his head at her as his smile for once, fell to a slight worried frown. His eyebrows were furrowed as he backed up only slightly, away from this girl that had concerned him so much. He hoped she was okay, it didn't look like she was on the BLI medication... far from it, actually. She didn't have any trace of a smile at all, didn't seem happy in the slightest way it could be. That was another red flag, among the others that were popping up because of this girl's behaviour.

MacKenzie wanted to laugh when he backed away. Of course they thought she was crazy. But crazy is subjective, and to Mackenzie, they were. They were all drugged puppets in her opinion. He BLI company always creeper her out a little but with no where else to go, she had to stay here. Mackenzie said quietly, but it may have been audible to him, "You should be asking yourself that..." she gave him a confused look but one could tell she was giving him an attitude about it. "Go ahead, back away like I'm crazy. Because if you want to see a smile on my face go ahead and do that." She rolled her eyes and kept a cruel smirk from forming across her face.

(and feign as it seems that steve is kinda out of the picture here, I'm making a bat city charrie atm so maybe you can have some interaction with them idk if I worded this right but)
Leo shook his head, his scruffy brown hair shaking along with it. He wanted to ask what had gotten into her, but at the same time he knew that would be rude and rudeness was not really allowed in these walls of this here city. "I know I'm fine." He said, not really knowing what else to say at this moment. It was just a weird day for her... He thought. What they called an off day... "You having an off day today?" He felt like he was using the term slightly wrong there, but honestly he ouldn't really care much about that in this moment. He was just slightly worried for this girl here.

Steve had left the other conversation. How rude! They had excluded him! Oh well, they were just simply acquaintances after all. He shuffled along the streets, putting on a big, wide-stretched smile as he looked around for any other acquaintances to make.

It crossed his mind for what seemingly was the thousandth time this week that he was in the place where freedom came to die. Souls came to be taken. Dreams came to be crushed. He was in the place where he didn't want to be, didn't like, and didn't belong. Alex has always been a free spirit, spitting in the faces of those trying to control him. But this was like mockery. Haha, we got you. You can't escape. It made his Zonerunner blood, fresh from the desert, boil to extremely dangerous temperatures. And what also seemed mocking were the stares that he got from people. His sun kissed skin being constantly contrasted sharply by the white clothing he had to wear attracted a lot of unwanted attention, but he was just glad he didn't have tattoos. He would have a really bad time if he had those. They were mostly known for being 'the marks of a Zonerunner', as a lot of those people had them. Most notably Fun Ghoul for his very obvious ones.
Alex skirted carefully around people, his nervous mind making his face appear with an expression to match and have his hands wringing themselves constantly. His eyes darted around the place he was in, wishing he had a raygun or something to defend himself if trouble arises. But alas, his raygun died along with his Zonerunner identity when he was caught.

He spotted Alex, and headed over to him. He didn't know this person, but his expression, his eyes, it told Steve he was interesting. ''Why, hello! My name is Steve Jobs the Second, lovely to make acquaintances with you! What is your name? How are you?'' He asked in advance, his voice really speedy. He looked very happy, his expression and all, he was pretty jolly and glad.
But his eyes showed the darkness he contained. Suffering was his enjoyment.

(I'M SO GODDAMN LAZY I'M SORRYYY)
Alex recoiled away harshly from this Steve entity, eyes boring into the other's own as he almost let out a growl of sorts. It was clear he was hostile, very much so, as he did attract a few stares from the boring old passerby. They've probably never seen someone act so animalistic inside the walls of the oh-so-perfect Battery City, but it was all down to instinct. Acting purely on instinct to make sure he didn't get infected by the synthetic happiness these people had grown to love. That was one thing Alex could never understand about these goddamn people. How they willingly embraced such an evil company... granted that they didn't know what happened behind closed doors here but still... they were insane, and Alex knew it.
"Don't come near me." Alex's voice was low and laced with a faint accent nobody was really sure were it was from. Some out on the Zones when he was White Noise told him that it reminded them of the Killjoy's accents, but he denied it altogether. He should have nothing in common with those icons of the rebellion against the Better Living Industries. To them he was just another rebel for the cause, and he was perfectly fine with that.

''Excuse me, good sir?'' His voice lowered, and his eye color slightly turned redder. ''Excuse me?'' His voice soon turned into a growl before he shoved Alex into a place where no one could see them. ''I will kill you. Tell me your name, tell me how you are-'' his jolly expression soon disappeared as he put a hand into his pocket, smiling and cackling. ''Don't run-'' he said, before with his one hand he pressed Alex against the wall.
''Don't test my patience, don't say a word, don't scream, or your life is cut off right here, right now-'' Steve laughed insanely.

Alex let out an "Oof!" as he was shoved against a wall, kind of nervous around this dude. There was bound to be somebody noticing this, some higher-up noticing what was happening, but indeed everyone was too drugged up to notice. Even the officials, and Alex wasn't really sure if that was supposed to happen. But he couldn't dwell on that now. Right in front of him could dust- he means kill him right now, but he was oddly glad that this was happening. Finally, some goddamn excitement. It was like being out on the Zones. There were people out there out for your head. Not a life for everyone but man was it stressful, and yet fun.
"I'd like to see you best a past Zonerunner." Alex let slip out of his mouth as a low, challenging growl, not really afraid of this dude. Sure, he was scary-looking, but he had seen much worse out on the desert. His hand pushed against Steve's chest, dark eyes that showed he had seen a lot of sh/t glaring deeply into Steve's own as his fingers bunched up Steve's clothing in a fist.

This could be the first time Alex has smiled inside of Battery City, the action breaking through his normal nervous and irritable attitude towards everything. This was fun. This was exciting. This was something new inside these walls. "Yes, a former Zonerunner! White Noise, I was. Call me Noise. Alex is just a name given to me when I was captured." Noise said as he pushed Steve farther from him, scraping at the asphalt of the ground beneath him with his foot like a bull ready to charge. He already liked this guy for some reason. Maybe because if he got his taste of the Zones just maybe he would make a legendary Zonerunner. But that was somewhat wishful thinking at this point.
"If that is what you truly want, death, blood, murder... then the Zones are the place for you." Noise said, throwing his arms out to his side, his palms facing the sky. "A lawless territory, where you can ghost as many Dracs as you want. But if that's not enough, try and go after the other Zonerunners. But that's suicide, especially on a territory that you have no experience with." Noise said with ease, his tone of voice seemingly mocking the other. "They'll surround you and pick you apart, like a wake of vultures to the chorus of their laughter. Your mask will not even be put on the Mailbox Shrine, no doubt!" Noise let out a loud laugh, staring right at the other with an equally mocking stare.
"But anyway, let's get this fight started."

''Noise- Noise, that is certainly a nice name.. See, I was once slim and fit, but in order to put my disguise on, I had to gain some weight.. But, someday, there are hopes that I can be free of this wretched city. The wretched people, they make me sick.. Be free, yes, that is what I want to be, the taste the life of a Zonerunner, the life of the scorching desert, excitement and discovery! How about we do this, Noise? We don't kill each other but instead have a simple fight, then we go our ways, since Zonerunners are the only people I can stand. Curse the fires of 2012,'' he spat, looking down and then up.
He turned around. ''I shall take that into consideration,.. No, not going after other Zonerunners, that would be stupid- I seem like the bloodthirsty guy, but in reality I'm not experienced much with fighting, but, who knows, maybe I have some hidden talents, maybe I don't, all I know is that I have a challenge now. The BLI, they cursed these people, they cursed it all, look at the black and white, look how colorless it is..'' He looked at his own clothes. ''Look how I haven't had or seen even a glimpse of color, a glimpse of it all, a taste of it. Why, you know how terrible it is to be away from the color, you have it worse! Captured and taken away to be tortured here- no color, no color, those words repeat in my mind, ha, ha..'' He grinned, spinning around as he got into a fighting stance.
''Noise, show me how much of your Zonerunner blood is still alive in there.''
