( for anyone who's curious, a lurcher is an unofficial dog breed created by mixing a sighthound with a herding breed or other sport oriented breed. Most commonly they are whippet/border collie crosses. Some even pin the name border-whippet on the classic lurcher. There are several other variations of a lurcher, but border whippets are by far the most common. These dogs are bred purposely for dog sports such as lure coursing, agility, fly ball, disc dog and dock diving among other things. they are a working breed.)
Does anyone here have any experience with lurchers? I have a 9 month old lurcher pup that will be beginning agility on October 25th. And for those cringing thinking she's too young and that it'd be too hard on her joints, she will be 10 months by the first class session, and by the time she actually begins working on the agility equipment, she will have reached 11 months. She will be my first agility dog. I'm also going to be working with my corgi in agility but my girlfriend will mostly handle him in class due to the two dog, two handler rule my particular club has.
Anyways, my lurcher is super high energy and kind of crazy, she's smart but so darn energetic she's hard to handle at times. I wanted to know if anyone else has experience with lurchers and if they know what it's like training them
