damn daniel is the most irrelevant. it literally lived for a week, at least in my circles. but the harambe one is exhausting. let it pass in peace.

Harambe memes are just beating a dead gorilla, but they're still alive somehow. Doge was a great meme but it was killed prematurely by politicians. Damn Daniel was just always trash.
I think the clear winner is Damn Daniel. Nobody talks about it anymore.

The Harambe meme is very much alive. I have two accounts of seeing it on my campus. One in my sociology of families class on a guys backpack, and another time the name was written on a dirty car.

The thing about the Harambe meme is that it very closely skirts the border between "offensive" and "non-offensive". It's just bad enough that politicians* don't feel comfortable using it- and we all know that the usage of a given meme by politicians is the #1 cause of meme death by far. On the other hand, it's not quite offensive enough that the general population feels uncomfortable using it, so it's become widespread. This, I believe, is why the Harambe meme has persisted for so long. I'm a professional memeologist. Trust me.
