Seriously, black cats are adorable, sweet, and every black cat I've seen acted like any other cat. So they are not bad luck. I don't understand why people think that...they deserve just as much of a chance to be adopted as any other cat. Who's with me?

in answer to the question, the most widely accepted answer is because of association of them with witches
but I do agree with you

Witch association, which is dumb because that kind of witch doesn't even exist.
Honestly black cats and mostly black cats and all cats of that genre are great. My mom has one that was extremely devoted to her for 19 years, and I have a Tortie which is devoted to me. It's actually been proven that black cats are some of the best family cats, and tend to be warmer and more people-seeking than other cats

In other countries, they're considered good luck! I find the stigma sad since I have a lovely black cat of my own and black cats are my favorite color of cats.
Also just info if any of you have black cats, you probably already know this, but keep your black cat indoors on Halloween and the days leading up to it. It's been known that people will take black cats and harm them in various ways around this time.

These three feral black cats used to come to my house for food They were definitely not house cats but they eventually trusted me enough to stay nearby when I came outside I can't say I ever experienced any bad luck
