Ferncloud is called Rauchfell (or Smokefur) in german (the reason probs being most languages having only one word for fern or bracken). And Ferncloud dies in The Last Hope and we all know who is named after her. Fernsong. Who is yellow. So the german translators have few options:
1. Name a yellow cat Smoke- because they probably won't end it with -song (-lied or -sang in german) because they are smarter than erins
2. Name Fernsong something else or after something else (suggestions?)
3. Change Fernsong's description to something else. It happened in german before (such as changing Brightheart's ginger patches to pale brown), but that is fairly minor so idk.

I don't think they'll name him Rauchklang. The german word for Fern is Farn, so his name could be Farnklang.

And I don't think they will name him Farnlied either as there is already Brackenfur (Farnpelz). Only thing I can think of is naming him after Toadstep, but I'm not sure if he died before or after Cinderheart's kits were born. |

I ... highly disagree with that xD In fact I'm pretty certain they'd be capable of not even noticing that Cinderheart's kits are named after dead cats (after all in the allegiances of the German version of Tallstar's Revenge they called Fallowtail "Farnschweif" (Bracken-/Ferntail) even though she previously has been translated as "Rehschweif" (Fallowtail")) They are also going to have problems with Leafpool's naming of Hollyleaf in Leafpool's Wish, 'cause in the book she's named after the color of holly bark, in the German books, however, she's called "Distelblatt" (Thistleleaf) |

To made them more like siblings. And Brackenfur of course. I really think Fernsong will be Farnlied/klang/ton/echo/(ge)sang and not Schwefellied (Sulfursong?) XD |
