So I was just watching the 5 Giants MAP on YouTube and a thought just hit me. It appeared as if Mapleshade could have haunted the stepping stones. Her kits died there and this is where we first meet her when she helps Crookedstar (then Stormkit) when the incident happened that broke his jaw.
What do you think of this concept? Do you think Mapleshade had a natural pull to this place in the living world and that this is what lead to her interaction with Crookedstar? It's possible she may have wanted to let him die since he's kin to Appledusk(?) but the memory of her lots drowning made her step in and help him out.

It sounds pretty interesting.
I'm so using this in my fanfic what would happen if the clans haven't left to the lake. Imagine ghostly Mapleshade watching Firestar in The Darkest Hour while he stares into the water and sees himself as the Lion.

Actually I agree with you. I think when her kits drowned, that's where it happened, the place before stepping stones was formed.

Now you that mention it. Doesn't Mapleshade also appears in Goosefeathers curse? Does she appear near the stepping stones or was it snakerocks? Don't remember.

I haven't read Goosefeather's Curse so I wouldn't know but it would be awesome if she did also appear at the stepping stones then. Just think she'd also be there to watch ThinderClan and RiverClan continuously fight over Sunningrocks which is near there I believe. She's likely love watching the two clans who turned her away fighting. Which also means she would have seen Tigerstar kill Redtail. Perhaps this is when she decided to start "advising" the tabby tom. (Although I hate the fact that they tried to give all of Tigerstar's credit to Mapleshade) |

I wouldn't be surprised. We do have some strange places like the Suicidal Forest in Japan and some bridge that triggers dogs to jump off, so this is a possible theory, especially with the power Mapleshade has.

I can't remember if she first made an appearance near the stepping stones but I do know for sure that she appeared near the snakerocks, but her appearing near there could also be because thats where one of her murders took place. |
