So basically I'm going to delete my account right after I send this. If you want or need to contact me, you can do so on my tumblr (I'm queerkat-manor).
To start off I've been on the warrior cat forums since '09 and thinking about the past is pretty nostalgic- most of you will probably only know me from my June account here, but in the past I was pretty involved in the Art Forum as Ravenshade (on the old wcf). I've met some amazing people there over the years, some I am close to even today. To say the least the AF is the reason I'm still an artist today: I had immense support and it was one of the most positive experiences I've ever gotten the pleasure to be a part of, and to be honest I wish a community like that still exists, but it doesn't.
I came back to these forums in hopes to have that same community on the art forum but as I got busier my ability to be active diminished, and eventually the AF did itself. I hung out at OTD instead after that and met some really cool people, and I don't regret it, but in the end (and especially recently) it's been crazy stressful. People are insanely passive aggressive, rude, and the management here is pretty terrible. If I was younger I'd stay, if the place was better managed and more positive I'd stay, but the fact that neither is applicable I've decided it's better to go. I have literally no reason to stick around anyway: I'm in college now, I'm excited about studying my major (international relations + history), I'm moving soon to start life on my own, beginning to work, will be focusing on my art- the forums aren't keeping me from doing that or anything, but they are a distraction, and not even a positive one. So yeah! I'm not sadly leaving or anything, I'm pretty happy to be checking out, and I genuinely hope everyone who is left on here can figure out how to make this place a more positive experience (or a continued positive experience if you have no problems).
But please: if you find yourself being hurt and stressed here consistently, don't be afraid to leave. It's extremely toxic to stay in a place that does you harm, even if you think you "need it" or something, you don't I promise.
Anyway, lots of love to my friends here and I hope the people I haven't been friendly with learn how to better themselves and grow. I've gotten into pretty nasty fights- I don't like to get riled up but I will, immediately, as soon as people start arguing about topics that are very personal to me or to others: gender, sexuality, race, religion, etc. should never be a debate. Just remember that the people you told that you don't agree with someone's life, they don't magically stop living it when they log off.
I'm going to continue posting art on my art blog so if you're interested in my stuff/supporting me feel free to check me out at June-Barker (on tumblr). Besides that I'm closing my account as soon as I send this and contact a few last people in order to hopefully keep in communication. If any of you WANT to keep in touch with me, odds are I want to keep touch with you too, so don't be afraid to send me a message on tumblr or something like that!
I hope a lot of you remember me in a positive way, and if not, that I at least made you chuckle a few times. A lot of you are super cool and very memorable- and being a part of this community with those individuals was great.
a note to the admins: You know there's a problem now. It never "blew up" but it got to the point in which one of the admins did, so it can't exactly be ignored. The biggest problem I've seen is not enough action being taken. People would often voice their concerns to a moderator, but almost always those concerns would end up sinking. The biggest thing forgotten is that we're all people and all relatively in similar age groups: the decisions (or lack of decisions) admins will make can be faulty as in they end they are just two young adults, same as the rest of us, with nothing but a title to set us apart. If a particular user is being inappropriate I think it's alright to publicly edit their post/give them a warning/etc. That's how the old forums worked and as far as I was concerned it didn't pose any problems. I also think that moderators and admins need to work harder to maintain positivity, care, and maturity themselves. By taking on that job you have to set the standard for the entirety of the forum, and most importantly you have to learn how to be completely impersonal when dealing with people, issues, or etc.
There are a few mods that I think would work better with a little more power, perhaps an admin with less. I hope you guys can figure all that out though, because really it's not worth it to fight for something that doesn't even make me happy anymore.
Anyway- au revoir! Good luck to the best of you and good riddance to the worst of you.
