for me, this forum kept going offline and displayed the message " We are experiencing some technical difficulties. Our technicians are aware of this issue and hope to have this situation sorted shortly."
anyone else experienced this?

I am. Maybe it wasn't prepared for all the new people? That's my best guess, which isn't a very good one since I'm very uneducated about computers and such

it's either:
1. a ddos attack 2. an issue over at the domain host's servers
other proboards forums work fine.

It's probably because so many people are on at one time

It could be due to an overload of members or just a generalised issue with the whole of ProBoards. My ProBoard Forum does this too on occasion and it's normally because all of ProBoards is down but an overloaded server could be the case here right now since mine seems to be working fine.

Potential causes- 1) The surge of joining/incomming people 2) Pro boards are experiencing lag on their end- 3) This individual server wasn't expecting the massive community. Jokingly adding to reason 2) Someone cut a cord in one part of the world, and now its affecting the servers on the other end of the world. ((Referring to a news article where someone cut a cord in North Dekota, and the kids in Alaska were unable to take their tests online.)) support.proboards.com/thread/593201/loading-issues?page=1&scrollTo=6776197

It can be a common occurrence on ProBoards so it's usually worth checking their Support Forum to see if it's just one Forum or whether it's site wide issues. It seems to be affecting some but not others currrently.

they resolved the issue so things should be mostly problem-free right now

I also experienced it. It scared me because I had unsaved work. :0 It was safe though, thankfully. *Sighs wistfully* I miss the original forums. I mean, this is nice and all, and it was a great way to test the community's closeness; but some things will never be the same.

It happened before for one of the games I played. It was so bad that the game and the site were un-reachable. So we sat on discord and were like, "S-So.... how's the weather?" Mainly , but not an expected reason because as you said the site was just created yesterday. Issue is still somewhat occurring. ^^
