Yeah, you read that right. I won't be writing fanfiction anymore.
What?! Why?!The answer is simple - it's time for me to move on. I need to focus on my own stories, and I can't do that if I'm busy writing someone else's. Don't get me wrong, these years of writing fanfiction have been an amazing adventure - and not to mention invaluable to my skills as a writer - but a greater one awaits. My own stories are begging to be written, and I'm finally ready to answer the call.
Frankly, the motivation is gone. While I love my plot lines, the anticipation of writing the next chapter has just faded. It became almost a chore, which is something no passion should ever be.
Another factor is time. In two weeks, I will begin my last year of high school, and my performance basically decides the next 5-10 years of my life - no pressure, right? - and I barely know how I'm going to keep up with my comic, let alone fanfiction. I already go months between updates, and I can't keep you guys waiting with half-promises of something that might happen. I can't keep doing that to myself and I can't keep doing that to you guys. You're all incredible - an author is nothing without her readers.
Does this mean you're leaving the forums?!No, It doesn't. I'll be hanging around for a good while yet, as a reader, helping encourage new writers and participating in special events. You can't get rid of me that easily.
For the past few years, the forums have been my online home. I'll be here, helping to rebuild our community into something great. Not the same, but better.
I might even occasionally post a one-shot or a chapter for a collab or something
So... What'll you be doing now, then?An excellent question. Aside from prepping for year 12, I'll be working on my comic, developing my writing and art skills, and creating my own projects.
I will post snippets occasionally on my social media accounts, so you guys can keep up with my progress. Progress on what, you may ask. Well, I have two complicated novels in different stages of planning (one may or may not be a humanised Return to Dust), another project that is either going to be a series of short stories or something visual, and of course, my comic.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. As to where to find me;
- Here, as Dingoleap
- Tumblr as Runawaytimberwolf (arguably the best place for updates)
- Figment as M. Mitchell
And of course my website,
