@animefreak was correct in their assumption that user activity would severely decline if OTD were closed. Without OTD, the forums could very likely die entirely. That's why the decision to temporarily close it was such a big one, and especially risky. Hopefully the activity will pick back up when OTD reopens, but I feel like it probably shouldn't be counted on. I've already seen people stating they'd be taking breaks after the closing, so we can only really hope they'll all come back.

I've noticed that after a certain time of day passes that the member count resets to 0, then fills up again presumably when a user does an activity (liking a post, posting, PMing or whatevs). It's nothing irregular.

However, I do agree with Catss about the decline of users. Seems people don't want to get in the middle of this situation at hand, and lost interest as non-WC conversation was cut off.
