I know this is dark, even for me, a self proclaimed emo, but I've asked myself this many times. Do we matter? We're all just tiny specks of dust in a infinite universe, and what we do will most likely not affect our planet. And even if we do affect the planet, someone will probably undo all the good work we do and cause more trouble. I've even pondered death as the solution for all of this horribleness in the world... I don't know, what's wrong with me? I used to be innocent and happy... now I'm just... not.

The world does matter, I promise you. It's better to look at the small things rather than the big picture. Even just a smile at someone could make them happy nurturing a plant and watching it grow looking at everything beautiful and amazing all these small things are important even the smallest of actions can bring something positive. Sure, someone may undo that, but the important thing is making that small change in that moment. idk i word dumped but that was what came to me. just remember you matter and the world matters

If transhumanism kicks in I assure you we will all matter
I wonder the same thing, actually. Though most of the time I have two major thoughts on it: "We all matter, nobody should die no matter what<3" or "Nothing means anything lets go jump off that cliff"

Not really. We aren't that important in the grand scheme of things.
Or, at least, not at first.
It is why we have to assign to ourselves our own meaning. Meaning is a man made concept, which means that it is made according to our own perceptions.
As a collective whole, I mean nothing. My role is to maintain the system within my society, like everyone else. Individually, however, I have different meanings to different people. My own reflection of meaning is different as well.
The key here is to focus on the micro, not macro.

I guess we're more similar then I thought. (No offense,)

I know... but still. What matters? What do you think matters? Well... my friends (Real and online), my books, my art skills, my music... I don't know, everything that's important to me.

Well, then, those things have meaning to you, correct? That means you matter.

I think things matter because we make them matter. Humans are perhaps the first things to exist in the universe to be able to create personal meanings for the crazy things that happen all around us, and that includes the meaning in our own lives I'm sure you matter indescribably to someone, and I'm also sure you will be able to create great meaning in things as well
