Chapter 1:
Sootkit stretched out on his soft moss nest, happy to finally have it all to himself. His sisters, Dovekit and Ivykit, had snuck out of the den when their mother, Whitewing, had fallen asleep in the warrior's den. Sootkit had been too tired to follow his sisters out of the den, and frankly, he didn't think they cared. Blinking open his forest-green eyes, he scanned the den around him. This would be one of the last nights he slept in here, for he was going to be an apprentice in a few sunrises. Taking in his surroundings, he let his gaze rest on Poppyfrost, a young warrior that was expecting kits. He didn't really like her, so he was surprised when he felt... Well... Sad at the thought of leaving her.
Shaking the thought from his mind, Sootkit twitched his ears, trying to find the sound of his sisters nearby. Nope. The Clan was silent, which meant they had gone into the forest, like they had said they would. He sighed, putting his head on his paws. Maybe I should go find them... He thought to himself. Well, maybe after a short nap...

Sootkit woke to the sound of shrieking in the den, and he opened his eyes to see Whitewhing standing over him, looking very worried.
"Where are Dovekit and Ivykit?" The queen asked worriedly, her face full of worry as she scanned the den.
"They aren't back yet?" Sootkit asked, now fully awake. He inwardly clawed himself. How had he been such a mouse-brain to let them go out into the forest?
"Wait, what?" Whitewing asked, looking at her son.
"Uh, Dovekit and Ivykit... They said that they were going into the forest last night... I thought they would be back by now!" He said helplessly.
"And you didn't think to tell me?" She snapped, her green eyes narrowed. "Never mind that, I'm going to go look for my kits!" She said, walking out of the den and into the camp clearing.
Sootkit sniffed, shaken by being scolded at by his mother. He looked up at the other Queens, who were all looking at him.
"We will watch you while your mother is gone." Ferncloud explained. Sootkit huffed, sitting down on his haunches. He hated being baby-sat. Especially by Ferncloud, who had the "Smother Mother" syndrome.
Waiting until the queens all looked away from him, Sootkit slipped out of the small hole in the side of the den that his sisters had used to sneak out the night before.
"I can find them myself." He huffed, padding out into the forest. To be honest, he was worried about his siblings. What if a fox had got to them? It wasn't like they knew any fighting moves to defend themselves.
Suddenly, he caught the scent of his sisters. "Dovekit? Ivykit?" He called, narrowing his eyes. No answer.
Following the trail, he came to a small clearing. Nope, they weren't there either. Moving forwards, he stopped in his tracks when he saw something scattered on the leaves of a nearby holly bush. Thinking it was dew, he crept closer to the bush. Sucking in a large breath, he felt fear course through his veins. It wasn't morning dew... It was blood!
