I thought his curse was to live forever, but when they mentioned that cats in the past should have faded, it sounded like he knew he should have died too. I'm on mobile, but this is from TLH.

I think the Erin's said that there is no set definition of the so called fading. So what I think the so called "fading" is just when StarClan cats stop playing their part. As in the current events do not concern them anymore. The basically just stop caring about stupid prophecies and retire which they just do nothing but eat and sleep

Of they got to StarClan and went well I'm no longer a part of XClan so don't really care. Do they fade immediately? Or if they never really liked their clan and stayed there because it was an easier way of life/all they've known.

I always thought StarClan cats faded because cats in the living world began forgetting about them and their story. Like Mapleshade, she was fading because the Clans had all but forgotten about her, except the cats training in the dark forest.

Definitely not when he/she is forgotten because we know that is complete bullshit. I am under the impression that they retire into their happiness and leave the current clan events to the current active StarClan cats. Unless it threatens the existence of StarClan, which we saw when Thunderstar, Shadowstar, Windstar, and Riverstar make an appearance in Omen of the Stars

What IS Rock then? I thought he was like a GOD or something? Like Midnight?

I think Rock is supposed to live forever, since he and Midnight described in TLH as being the first to see everything, and they know the knowledge of all cats who came before and will come in the future.
Something about fading cats just bugs me. Because, I think I like closure after they dissapear, so I wonder where they go, or if they're just nothingness now. Fading to me doesn't seem like it has closure. I like it when the dead cats go to StarClan and stay there.
