I just got and finished reading Thunder and Shadow. I've missed you guys so much, and I'm looking forward to reading all these new threads on the front about the book.
I literally just finished it, and I read the whole thing in 2 hours, so I'm kind of still collecting my thoughts. Overall, I was kind of mixed about the whole thing. But man, the Erins are really trying different things this time. So much stuff happened that I don't know what to talk about. So many deaths, too.
I guess I can say that I'm sad Crowfrost died. He was the best character. I'm neutral on Needletail, and Puddleshine rocks, but the rest of the characters I don't really like. Holy crap, the ShadowClan apprentices and Warriors were so disrespectful. They legitimately made me angry. It's not bad to think differently of the Clans, but they simply couldn't just leave instead of being the gossipy jerk apprentice x100? Ugh. Not sure if I like Violet or Twig, either - so much drama... and don't even get me started on Onestar. Not sure what to say about the other rogues yet. Darktail is okay, a lot more likable than in the first book, but Rain's a jerk.
Honestly, the thing I'm happiest about is Tigerheart being deputy. Not sure if he'll make it to leader, but it all depends on if Rowanstar kicks the bucket early.

Also, what's this stuff about Su? Clearly I've missed a lot. A fan named Su helped Vicky make decisons about the series, and a lot of people are upset because these things make no sense. For example, Brightflower (Yellowfang's mom) and Lilywhisker (cat from TR who retired early due to a tunnel accident) got sent to the Dark Forest for, get this... being upset. Yeah, that's right. Brightflower was sent to the Dark Forest because she was upset that Marigoldkit and Mintkit were murdered. And Lilywhisker for being sad over her injury. They never did anything evil, but they got sent to the Dark Forest for having negative emotions. Also, Marshcloud, Deerfoot, Tangleburr, Blizzardwing, and a bunch of other cats who never did anything wrong were also sent to the Dark Forest Some more news is that Whitestorm is Ashfur and Ferncloud's dad, and that their siblings who died are named Elderkit and Tulipkit. Also Patchpelt is Swiftpaw's father, and he had a sibling named Lynxkit who died. There is more news but that'/ the most dramatic stuff. |

Literally sounds like an AU fanfic to me - just like the people who think Snowtuft is Snowkit or Scourge is the leader of the DF. Definitely not considering that stuff canon. tigerheart being deputy only interests me because i want another tigerstar just for the irony. his sister dawnpelt is not redeemed in my eyes yet. but that isn't much of a concern. what was more of a concern for me is that we didn't get to see littlecloud's death when we could've seen it through either of the two out of three povs (preferably alderpaw due to leafpool being around and her thoughts etc.
other random thoughts i'mma mention for whatever reason are
i'm fine with needletail being a rogue and all but her personality felt so off and needletail has been the best thing for me this series so far and i'm a little disappointed. and more disappointed that she wasn't needleclaw. and some of her interactions with Rain made me cringe.
twigpaw kinda annoys me. i wish they did a bit more deviation in her hostage subplot.
i feel like violetpaw could interest me if she adopts some darker ideals due to the conditions she's under but i'm suddenly doubting it.
mothwing annoys me even more now and she was hardly mentioned.

It was " did anyone else like Crowfrost?" and I was like "well crap." Shame since he was surprisingly awesome. Harespring too - when we first saw him agreeing with Onestar I was sure he was Onestar 2.0, but he surprised me by getting the herb for ShadowClan. Now for Onestar to die off, that sack of garbage he is, out of his mind or not. I don't really like Needletail, but at least she wasn't as bad as the other apprentices. Twigpaw kind of annoys me too. Oh, was that made by you? I didn't know who made it, it was honestly my fault for reading the recent topic tab. At least it wasn't as big as the whole apprentice betrayal or anything, it wasn't a huge deal. I was expecting him to go out with a bang though, like in battle, not in sickness.
Still mad that Leafpool didn't die...
