Littlebrook chuckled at the mention of her new apprentice. "Well, she certainly has a defiant streak in her," she admitted with a smile, though there was no maliciousness in the statement. "I took her out to tour the territory and she did well keeping up and not getting tired out. She has a lot of determination, that's for sure. I think it helps that I've trained other apprentices before her, too, so her personality didn't catch me too off guard." “Oh, that’s good.” Diamondheart sighed in relief. He gave a fond look. “Fluffpaw is definately the roughest of the four. But I know she likes you by the way she looked at you during the ceremony. I think she appreciates your steadiness and experience. She’d stress out a new warrior for sure.” He chuckled, before he complimented. “You two are a good match. Dedicated and loyal to your clan and your work.”

Littlebrook purred at the praise, though she was somewhat surprised to hear of Fluffpaw's apparent fondness for her. She hadn't gotten that vibe from the young apprentice during their premier training session, but it was still hard to read her for now. It was a skill that Littlebrook would have to develop as she considered how to train Fluffpaw. "Is that so? It felt to me like she was giving me the stink eye all through the ceremony," she replied, though it was more of a joke than anything since she was at least sure that Fluffpaw wasn't opposed to being her apprentice. “Oh no. You’d tell if it was her stink eye. She hides none of her disdain. No, you probably saw her look of challenge. She looked ready to take all you could throw at her. She’s always been like that. Steadfast and driven to be the best she can. No distractions.” Diamondheart shook his head, giving a look of both apology and humor.

"Is that so?" Littlebrook hummed. She filed that information away for future use, reminding herself mentally to focus on Fluffpaw's expressions more. If she could learn to read Fluffpaw's mood, it would make her life much easier. "Well, I'll be sure to work her hard, then," she purred. “I appreciate that.” Diamondheart nodded. His eyes steeled a bit as he mewed. “I just hope Thunderclan does not do something foolish. Our last battle was a rancid dishonor...they looked half-flayed...”

Littlebrook nodded her agreement. "If Shadestar does decide he wants to back Sunningrocks again before his warriors have healed from our last battle... I'd just feel bad for them. It was clear that some of them at Sunningrocks didn't even want to be there, and weren't fully trusting in their supposed leader. There's no honor in beating an enemy who can hardly fight back." She shook her head at this. "I just hope Shadestar learned from his mistake and will let his warriors rest before he gets ahead of himself." “Hornetstrike was there. He was injured and Thawfrost beat him easily. It wasn’t an honorable fight.” Diamondheart agreed. He had fought his brother before, both undyingly loyal to their clans. But this wasn’t right. “In case, I want as many mentors as possible to get some battle training in. Just in case.”

Littlebrook felt her heart fall a little at Diamondheart's request. She, of course, would much prefer that none of the apprentices needed to be able to defend themselves just yet, so quickly into their apprenticeship, because that meant he was worried they might need to in a real fight, but she could see why he would make such a request. It was better for the apprentices to be prepared in case the worst case scenario unfolded. "Of course. I think I should be able to start Fluffpaw on basic defense maneuvers right off the bat, since she's so eager to learn. I doubt she'll have much trouble picking it up." “Thank you, Littlebrook. It comforts me immensely.” Diamondheart admitted with a saddened smile.

Littlebrook dipped her head in response. "Well, I've always tried to do what I could when I was abke to do it," she replied simply, offering him a smile. "If there's anything I can do to lessen the burden on my Clanmates, or just offer a but if reassurance, I always try." I was something she'd learned from her mother many moons ago, and a philosophy she tried to pass on to her own apprentices. Perhaps Fluffpaw would take to it, perhaps she wouldn't, it would be impossible to tell until she was warrior, most likely.

Riverclan is lucky to have you.” Diamondheart purred with contentment, looking at Littlebrook.

Ottermask shook out his pelt to chase his frustrations away. Everything would be fine, it had to be. The Dark Forest wasn't going to gain any ground and WindClan was going to deal with them. He took a deep breath, trying to chase away his haunted memories. Yet, it didn't help that Deadpath stared his same doubts. When he wasn't with Shellstream, Deadpath always stuck close to Ottermask's side. The older warrior didn't mind, he'd always look out for his nephew, but he wished he could chase away Deadpath's fears, help him become more comfortable within the Clan. "Follow me," Ottermask smiled at his nephew softly. He new the perfect distraction from all the ghosts and hauntings.
"Smogstorm, Frostlake?" Ottermask poked his head into the nursery, blinking his eyes to let them adjust. Deadpath poked his head in right beside him, hoping to see the new kits.
Frostlake purred softly at her brother's voice. She lifted her head, not saying anything, and shifted her tail that the two toms could get a look at Lakekit and Glacierkit curled up at her belly.

Mintkit’s green eyes grew wide with curious wonder, looking up at her father and Deadpath.

Ottermask purred loudly and padded into the den and over to his mate and kits, flicking his tail to his sister in greeting. "How are you all doing?"
Maskkit looked up when his father came over, eyes as deep as the rivers depths with paler flecks within them.
Deadpath hung around the den entrance smiling softly at the kits. He didn't want to get too close, but Frostlake beckoned him over to meet Lakekit and Glacierkit.

And saying words.” She purred. “Papa!” Mintkit squealed suddenly, lifting a shaky paw to bat weakly at the air, towards the tom her mother had told her was her father. His scent was farmiliar to her.

Glacierkit wasn't old enough to do anything significant yet so he stayed next to Frostlake.
Shellstream was waiting outside, tired from the gathering.

(I got Eelshock open, Fox!)
A flush of pure joy shot through Ottermask when his daughter called out to him, he stepped over to her and pressed his nose gently to the little she-kit. "Hello, Mintkit."
Deadpath glanced over at Ottermask and smiled softly, he dipped his head to Frostlake and took his leave of the den.

Ashfaith's ears fell back and his expression turned sullen. "This is a sad time for all of the clan's then." He bowed his head, saying a silent prayer for the fallen leader before he looked back up at his brother. "What do you mean Thunderclan's gone mad?"

Diamondheart swished his tail, moving to the center of camp to call together patrols.
