Oh, and I forgot to say. Sorry that you hurt you knee. Hope your doing better. TY! It is healing! I may dabble this even with something I'm thinking about for the "What is it like to be an author" thing. If you have any specific questions to have me answer just let me know. I'll check this thread before I start.

I was thinking the general author questions. "What got you interested in writing? Why do you write?" stuff like that.

OK Minted! Here it is!
WHY DO I WRITE? LET ME COUNT THE WAYS!
It is a common question, as is what started you writing, so, I shall answer with my unique perspective, both questions with one answer. I have always written stories, driven to do so even before I learned to pencil letters. I drew sketches, telling stories at a very young age, so for me, the urge to write grew with me, developing as I matured. It is such an ingrained part of me, I actually get rather cranky if life circumstances prevent me from working on my stories. I write because something deep inside pushes me.
Though I know not the source of this inner drive, it pushed me to create stories from the nonhuman point of view for over five decades. I can’t recall ever saying suddenly “I want to be a writer” but always loved the song by the Beatles “Paperback Writer”. I suppose my inner self knew already, and in truth, I wanted to be an author for as far back as my memory goes, about a 57 year span. I fondly recall my picture book style stories, written in those black and white composition notebooks, with a rising sun and rainbow logo done in crayon, which I dubbed “Sunrise Publications”. I write because the joy of creating flows back and forth between me and the notebook.
Finding time to write challenges the best of us, but I always carried notebooks to work, school, everywhere, so if spare time presented itself, I put pen to paper. I stil have notebooks in this computer age, for rough drafts, charts, character lists, family trees, maps and other information, but no longer print double-spaced typed manuscripts, thanks to Independent publishing. Now printed proofs take the place of traditional manuscripts. I write because it challenges the mind.
,
When I work on my stories, I dive into a zone, where I can literally shut out all stimuli short of a nuclear bomb. I drop into that world, and, as it opens up before my mind’s eye, I see the characters, and their surroundings. I hear what they say, watch what they do and dutifully record all as their loyal scribe. When I must stop, and come up for air, to participate in real life, I feel like I just woke up from a dream. I write for sheer enjoyment and entertainment.
Some drop into success early, while others bloom late, but I have waited many, many long years just to see my books in print. It is a lifelong dream come true. Though I am not famous or well known (yet), I feel very lucky to have a husband and lifemate who financially supports my lifelong dreams, and helps pay for the most difficult thing an Independent Author must deal with-advertizing and promotion. It is a necessary task. I write in hopes I might be successful enough to bring in a decent income.
This is a journey, that will not end until I draw my last breath, and no matter how many or how few books I sell, I am happy I spent most of my adult life working my muse and creating tales for readers to enjoy. I doubt I will ever retire from writing, and barring a nasty surpise like blindness, I shall go to my grave with a keyboard stuck to my fingers, and a story behind my eyes. I write to create new worlds, doing what life meant for me to do the day I entered this world.
I write because that urge is, was, and always will be, as great as the need for food and water, the need for love, and the need for shelter, thus always a part of me it shall be.

(I'm also going to write one, you know, because. XD ) I love how you describes the way it feels to write. Because that's how it is for me as well.
