WHAT THE HELL REDHEART WHY IS PAPAGENO BEING DRILLED in the Original Opera (TM), his punishment is just another case of impossibility if you look at simple anatomy. So we had to figure out how to make it somewhat realistic: the answer lied in a drill.

WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL PUNISHMENT?! You'll see next week. The only other changes we made to it were adding the bullhooks and the claw marks and all.

Happy Valentine's Day. Some announcements:
-Up on the main page is A Dumb-as-heck sketch I did for the holiday. I couldn't really think of much (if we were in like only ten pages more I'd have 100 different things to choose from but nOOOO) but eh it's not like I can just let that slide. -As mentioned in my status, I will be on vacation over the weekend into Monday. This means that I'll have to complete all of what I'll do for this week before Friday night, which means that I have a more packed schedule, which means there will probably be only one page on Sunday. Don't worry, we won't leave you wondering what's going on back in page 19 (it won't be pretty, I can tell you that), so otherwise there shouldn't be many problems. Also it'll line up well, being page 20 and all. -We'll finally be getting into the main plot very soon, after all this time. It will be very very VERY weird, and while I'll try to have as much as possible explained in-comic, you all are free to ask any questions you'd like if ever needed. If answering would create a spoiler, you will be greeted with an odd out-of-place answer to another question instead, which would leave you either pondering away or going to Wikipedia and getting all the wrong ideas because Ensemble is very different from its source material. -You CAN ask me what will happen next. I will be very vague, though. And if it's a huge spoilery thing, I'll just go "go and see yourself you nerd" or whatever.

I knew that there was gonna be dark stuff in this comic, but oH MY GOD Papageno What I find semi-hilarious is that in the original all the phsychological/physical/mental torture put on him is more "lol look at this noob" than anything else up to the very end. Of course, some of this doesn't really gel well with modern audiences (the opera we derive most of our story from is really quite outdated and offensive when presented in its original form) so I had to change it. Same thing goes with the other main originally-comic-relief character- but he's jaded and cynical and only funny in the sarcastic way.

had to update the disclaimer again now that I've got the entire story plotted out 100%. Instead of "and worse", you get to know what's going to happen in a little fuller detail! And it's not pretty! Like everything else in this comic!
(the only reason I'm able to get away with this comic is because of rule loopholes tbh)

@burglar Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it smilii There's also the (pretty much irrelevant and unofficial) Sun King and his council and their...odd... traditions. They'll show up much later in the comic- the government situation here among these cats is rather complicated, to say the least.

Moon Queen will do for now though

You got me dying to see the whole story now o-o Also GG, you've gotten further plot-wise in 27 pages than some comic writers have in 100 Ensemble was actually made to have everything intertwined as such. Everything from the Queen being the first cat shown on their hind legs to the seen contents of Papageno's bag has some kind of foreshadowing or plot significance behind it. It's mainly so that I feel smart and very smug but also because I am not good at keeping spoilers to myself and this is how I prevent doing that. I hate slow pacing, to be honest. And since all of the explanations for everything come later (there I go doing it again) I don't waste any time on that.

Ensemble updates as of 3/26/17:
-Pages 29 and 30 up! Tiger tries on some new stuff and a new name. Papageno continues his streak of idiocy. -On Wednesday, I updated the lore section so that y'all know how these cats figured out how to build their own Hell in ten easy steps.... Yay? -Also today, I updated the Context section with a little thing that I wrote while bored at OfficeMax. None of the characters in there have shown up in the comic proper, but they will soon. It's like a preview. And besides, if you've read a good majority of my posts, you should figure out who the cats are rather quickly. -Minor edits to the Glossary and cast list (I.e. Adding in more things in the descriptions, making the Almaviva house a hotel now, adding in Fiorello who I completely forgot about because he's a background character at the beginning of the opera he's in, etc) -Other than that, things have mostly remained the same

Plus I keep on wanting to call Tiger 'Tapatio' like El Jarabe Tapatio (Mexican Hat Dance) because I'm too daft to remember his new name. So now I'm going to hear a mariachi band in my head every time I see him on-screen.

And THEN there's a ton of inexperienced opera goers who botch up his name in the most hilarious ways. note to self: make 'Better Names for Tiger/Tamino/Whatever' a thing
