The concept of the Butterfly Effect states that the tiniest of things, such as the flap of a butterfly's wings, can have a large impact. This got me thinking: What sort of things that happened in the series do you think would've impacted the story had things been done differently and how?

In a semi-literal sense if Hawkfrost plan's failed and the moth's wing flapped from a tiny breeze then Mothwing would probably not have been a medicine cat.

Ahhh you guys make me want to finish writing backwards.
That fic ended with Fire x Spotted being a thing, the three being WindClan cats, and the entire Clan imprisoned in ThunderClan's lake Camp while TigerxSand ruled the forest.
All because of one thing.
But the story works backwards so that it slowly gets more and more canon until there's only the one change in the end that makes everything so different.
That was fun to plot.

Ivypool and Dovewing communicate better and dissolve the tension between them early

If Brightsky never died, Mudfur wouldn't be a medicine cat.
If Firestar never came to the forest, Tigerstar would have succeeded in killing Bluestar and probably take over the forest.
If Leafpool and Crowfeather never left, Cinderpelt would be alive and there would be no Cinderheart.

Leafpool may have been in the medicine cat den tending to other cats or fetching herbs when the badger broke into the nursery. Even if Leafpool had been with Cinderpelt I feel she would have been wounded enough to kill her if a bit slower. |

I mean, Cinderpelt needed to die one way or another, but if Leafpool had been there in the badger attack, I'm 99.999...% sure that Cinderplet would have lived to die another way. Because, usually medicine cat apprentices need to be with their mentors when a queen is delivering; as it is a very good experience to reference from in the future. Thus, Cinderpelt would have been defended by Leafpool. An able-bodied cat. Sure, that doesn't mean Cinderpelt would escape completely unscathed, but Leafpool would only need to buy enough time for the nursery guard to rush in. Which, wouldn't take all that long. She doesn't, by any means, need to be a very good. So, even if Cinderpelt did suffer injuries, Leafpool would have gotten the worst of it. Which, in both cases, wouldn't be life-threatening at all. |

Cats dying or not are quite heavy events-
Trying to stick to the literal definition of a "butterfly effect," I would wonder about what would have if Hawkfrost didn't find a moth's wing. It, quite literally, is a butterfly effect lol. Perhaps Mothwing would decide to become a medicine cat anyways, but she would have to face a lot of oppression from other cats. If she did not, however, the whole era of Warrior Cat Liberalism (in which cats become more accepting of outsiders and recognizing their individual skills) might have been delayed.
