I've been seeing a lot of theories that Pebblepaw is going to be a bully to Hawkpaw in HJ. I don't support that theory for one reason, it doesn't follow the character pattern of the series.
Everyone knows that the Erins have a tendency to fall back on the same old plots when they run out of ideas. The characters also have certain patterns that they always fall back into.
Going back to the Hawk vs Pebble theory, I believe that Hawk and Pebble will end up mates. Why? Because of Pebble's gender. Every time we have a tom and she-cat do not get along initially, they always become mates or develop romantic feelings for each other as the story progresses. Let's look at what we have seen in previous arcs.

Is everyone else seeing the pattern? Whenever the initial bully is the opposite gender of the hero, they almost always end up developing romantic feelings at some point in the story. The only real exception I could think of is Bluestar and Thistleclaw. They are also the only real example of victim and bully being opposite genders. There also more examples in the SE's. Tallstar and Shrewclaw (victim and bully, both male), Yellowfang and Foxheart (victim and bully, both female), and Yellowfang and Raggedstar (dislike, later mates, female and male.)
Male and female characters who hate each other later fall in love and bullies are the same gender as the victim. Those are the character patterns we see in almost every arc/side books. I really doubt Hawk vs Pebble will happen. I firmly believe that HawkxPebble will be what we see in HJ.
