This is a little blurb of an Undertale fanfic that popped into my head. I'm not sure I'd want to make it a full fic or not :/
The boss monster couldn't help it but look away from his childhood friend. He knew his duty was to destroy them, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Tears began to form in the corner of his burgundy eyes, "Chans, don't make me do this...just please...leave. Save yourself. Classic is on his way...and he's brought some of the strongest Sanses. He's going to destroy you."
The small skeleton walked over to Lee, taking his large furry hand in their small fleshy-boney one, "Lee. I need to face him. If I don't, he will only continue to disrupt the balance of the multiverse at the expense of everyone in it. Including your universe that has suffered so much as it has been caught in the crossfire."
"All those innocent bystanders..."
“I was limited in what I was able to do…” the skeleton hybrid lowers their gaze to the ground, "But you need to carry on for the both of us, you can do all that I couldn’t. The fate of your universe rests with you.”
“Chans…” Lee spoke, “I've heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn. And we are led to those who help us to grow the most, and that in return we help them. I don't know if I believe that's true, but I know I am who I am today because I knew you...”
Chans looks back up at Lee, “We might not meet again in this lifetime, or in this timeline, so let me say this before our paths diverge: A lot of who I am is from what I learned from you. And however our stories end, I know that you have re-written mine because you were my friend. I ask for forgiveness for whatever I’ve done that you blame me for.”
Lee chuckles and looks down at the hybrid with a small smile, “Its blame that we have to share though…but at this point none of it matters anymore.”
Chans smiles, “So it would seem...” the skeleton’s smile fades, “You need to leave now. If Classic sees you here, you’ll be killed. You know as well as I do that your universe will fall to him if you are.”
Tears then fall from the boss monster’s eyes as he lowered himself to his knees and embracing Chans in a tight hug, “Then farewell my friend. I hope that one day we will see each other again in this timeline, or the next…”
