Sol smirked. "No losing your pants while drunk. Got it. What will it take for you to lose them sober?"
~ • ~ • ~ ( I have seen that one, but I always get distracted by other things. xD But if you say it's good then I'll give it a try after I finish with the Sins. And after that, I'm rewatching Inuyasha cause I've been craving some "sit boy" laughs. 😂 )
Nobody had moved when Seth stepped back onto the street. Trevor and the other man Anya had dealt with looked like they were starting to come to, but it was clear they wouldn't be getting up or leaving anytime soon. Seth ignored them. They were just grunts. Dylan was the mastermind here.
He was slumped against the wall where they'd left him, only half conscious. Seth stopped in front of him and crouched, examining the burn marks. First and second degree burns, nothing serious. Most of the damage was to the shirt. But Seth knew burns of any degree hurt like hell.
He reached over and tapped Dylan's cheek twice, forcing him to full wakefulness. Dylan took one look at him and tried to jerk backward. He only succeeded in banging his head against the wall, which had him cursing like a sailor.
Seth waited until he was done. Then his hand shot out and wrapped around his neck. "No more messing around, asshat. Where. Is. Parker?"
Dylan struggled and gasped in shallow breaths until Seth squeezed his neck tighter, cutting off his air entirely for several seconds before loosening again. "I'm not going to ask again. If you don't tell me, then you're of no use to me. Start. Talking."
He released his hold on Dylan's neck. He immediately slumped forward and dragged in several deep breaths, rubbing his neck. Seth counted silently. Luckily for Dylan, he sat up and started talking before Seth reached his goal.
"A friend of mine has contacts across the sea. Unsavory contacts. He buys and sells illegal goods all the time. One of his most popular goods is slaves. I contacted him, told some lie about Parker, and asked him to make Parker disappear. He agreed. And he's quick, so Parker was gone by morning. I don't know where they took him exactly, but I would guess the coast. Onto a boat, so they could ship him across the sea and make money off of him."
Seth pressed one fist into the ground and leaned closer. Dylan flinched back. "What's your friend's name?"
He swallowed and looked down. "If I tell you that and he finds out I sent a Rider after him, he'll kill me."
Seth chuckled darkly. "No he won't. Cause when I find him, I'll kill him. And you, if I have to learn his name some other way." He was bluffing, of course. Seth had never taken a life without being ordered to do so first, and he wasn't about to start now.
Dylan clenched his jaw, scared and angry, but finally said, "Klaus. His name is Klaus."
Seth stood up. "Thank you. Now, if you'll excuse me —"
"Halt! Put your hands up!"
Seth looked in the direction of the shout. Three armed city guards were advancing carefully toward him. Irksome, but not nearly as much as what he saw behind them: the missing henchman.
Seth glared at him. He cowered as if absolutely terrified and pointed. "That's him, officers! That's the man who attacked us!"
"Oh you've got to be kidding me," Seth muttered.
"Be quiet and put your hands up!" one of the guards barked, inching closer.
Seth looked from one city guard to the next, weighing his options. Fighting them would be easy, but that might result in more being summoned and him becoming an enemy of the town. Their relationship with Riders was bad enough as it was without him beating up what was likely a third of their armed forces. He could just step into a pocket and be gone, but that felt too much like running. And if there was one thing he hated more than losing, it was running.
So with a sigh, Seth raised his hands and let the guard cuff him.

His face went red, but he refused to falter. He had been lost for words too many times already. "Well, an actual date would be a good starting point," Parker stated, trying to match Sol's nonchalant tone. "Then we'll just have to see from there."
~*~*~
It is, and I love the first opening song of it. ^^ My sister tried getting me to watch Inuyasha, and I've watched a couple of episodes, but I could never sit down and watch it. XD Mainly because I was in the middle of watching Fullmetal Alchemist at the time which, to me, was much better.)
It took Anya about five minutes and whole lot of encouragement and persuasion from both dragons before she made her way back to the house. Corrik went with her until they reached the porch. From there, she had to go alone. Opening the door, she found her mother and two of her brothers, Felix and Ryner, in the living room. Maria had found some housework for all of them to do to keep them busy while they waited. When Anya entered the room, the work stopped.
It was fairly easy to tell something was wrong. Yes, Anya had been worried more than the rest, and it had showed clearly, but the way she looked now was worse. She stood, shoulders hunched forward slightly and face dejected. Not to mention there was a few small blood splatters on her shirt. "Anya, what happened?" her mother asked, hurrying over to her daughter. "Where's Seth?"
She thought she would be able to hold it together, but the moment her mother started her questions, the tears returned. "P-Parker's g-gone..." she sobbed.
Maria quickly bundled her youngest into her arms, holding her tightly while she gently shushed her. "Here now, Cricket, calm down," she murmured. "He isn't gone. He's just taking a little longer to get home."
"N-no, he isn't," Anya replied, then did her best to recount all that Seth and she had learned. She summarized the events, focusing more on what she learned of her twin's whereabouts, or lack of, and only vaguely mentioned the fight they were in. She knew her mother wouldn't have approved of them fighting for any reason.
Her mother and brothers stood there shocked at first. But it was Maria that broke the silence first. "There, there, my love, it's going to be okay," she said. It was all she could do to keep her own emotions in check. She turned to her boys. "Felix, run and fetch your father."
Felix nodded and sprinted from the house. Ryner stayed, moving to take their mother's place and hugging his sister close while Maria went to fetch Anya something to drink. He led her to the couch and set her down, offering her the silent support a sibling could give. He couldn't say it was going to be alright when he feared the worst had already happened as well.

"A date, huh?" Sol laughed quietly. "Gods, I haven't been on a real date in years. I don't even know what one entails anymore."
~ • ~ • ~ ( Okay, I started Blue Exorcist, and I'm hooked. xD Rin is freaking hilarious. 🤣 Inuyasha is my all-time favorite anime. I just love the dynamic between the characters, and the comedy is great. If you can get past the first few episodes, it just gets better and better. At least, I think so. ^^ Fullmetal Alchemist is another favorite of mine. Ed is just... Ed. xD )
Seth paced the small jail cell he had been put it. He hadn't fought the guards when they dragged him here, or when they shoved him into the cell, not even when every instinct raged against being penned. The guards were dealing with his "victims" now, and looking for any witnesses. Seth was just trying to convince himself that breaking down the door wouldn't do him any good.
He didn't know how much time had passed before the guard captain entered the holding room. Seth was across his cell and at the door in a heartbeat. "Finally. Are you here to let me out? Because I have shit to do."
The guard captain frowned. "Sir, you just attacked and beat four grown men. No, I'm not letting you out."
Seth gripped the bars. "First off: don't call me sir. Second, I beat them, but I didn't attack them. They ganged up on me. It's not my fault I'm better trained than them. And third: I'm a Dragon Rider. If I wanted out, I would be out. The fact I'm still in here has to say something."
The man sighed and rubbed his eyes. "Why did they gang up on you?"
Seth crossed his arms. "Because they kidnapped my friend's brother and sold him into slavery. They knew I was looking for them, and they decided they didn't want to cooperate."
The captain looked taken aback. "They did what? Why didn't you report this? What's the victim's name? His description? We —"
"Forget it," Seth interrupted. "Last reminder: I'm a Rider. It's my job to find him, and that's what I'm going to do. So let. Me. Out."
But the man was heading in the opposite direction. "No, you can stay there until I get to the bottom of this and confirm your story. I'll be back."
Seth watched him go, incredulous. After the door slammed shut, he tossed his hands in the air. He stayed put for about a minute more before giving up. "I don't have time for this," he muttered. And without a second thought, he stepped into a portal dimension and vanished.

"Can't say I have much experience there either, but perhaps having breakfast together before we leave in the morning would be a suitable first date," Parker said. Then realized that he had sort of just asked the captain of the Comet on a date. An actual date. His gaze stayed on the dimly lit street ahead of them, a little afraid to look in Sol's direction to see what the older man thought of said suggestion.
~*~*~
IRK?! There's two seasons, but I don't know if Netflix has season two. If not, you can watch it on Crunchy Roll for free. You'll just have to deal with commercials throughout it. It's still worth it though! Also, I need to find the English cover of the Blue Exorcist opening because I'm pretty sure it either fits Seth or Sol. XD Yeah, that's what my sister said too. I just haven't done it yet. XD Ed is the best! XD All hail our short overlord. And then there's Mustang, who just compliments Ed so well.)
The hours ticked by and Anya had moved little from the couch. Tea had been given to her, and finished the cup but didn't remember doing so. Ryner eventually got up and went to grab a blanket. Even though it was still warm outside, he wrapped his sister in said blanket, cocooning her. It had always made her laugh when she was younger and upset, and she would snuggle into the safety of the blanket until she felt better. It gained no such response now, but no one bothered her. Not even when her father, Trenton, and Felix returned home.
She could here the quiet conversation coming from the kitchen as he mother filled them in. Her brothers, stricken and somber, all seemed to make an unspoken agreement of how to sit. They surrounded their sister: Trenton on the couch and pulling her in to curl up and hide her face in his chest. As the oldest, he wished he could take this pain from her. Yet the only one that had every seemed to be able to have done that was apparently gods know where. Felix took the a seat at the other end of the couch, and Ryner made himself comfortable on the floor in front of them, back leaning against the couch.
They stayed like this, each choosing not to make comment of the muffled crying of their mother in the kitchen. The silence was just too fragile, too alien to them. It was a long time before it was broken. "Is Seth back yet?" Anya asked in a small, detached voice.
"No, I don't think he is," Trenton replied.
This worried her as well. He should have been back by now. He promised he would't be long. Had something happen to him as well? She couldn't even stand that thought. She didn't think she could cope if anything were to happen to him at this point.

"Breakfast won't work. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, with strangers coming on and off my ship as we load her up and prepare for the trip down the coast. We won't be staying at any port after this one for more than a day, so we have to prepare for that." He spoke as the Captain of the Comet, in charge and leaving no room for argument. But then he turned around to walk backward so he could meet Parker's gaze. "But I should be free in time for dinner. I even know a place you might like."
~ • ~ • ~ ( It doesn't, but I will probably be tracking season two down at some point (sooner rather than later, probably xD). And please do. I like both the opening and closing songs, and I would love to hear the English versions. ^^ Well, you should. It will be worth it. ;D All hail! xD Agreed. Mustang is great. )
Seth spent the rest of the day traveling from one port town to another, looking for this Klaus guy. (That was the name, right? xD) Several of the people he tracked down and spoke to knew Klaus, but it always took some scary persuasion to get them to admit to anything. Apparently this guy was tough, with connections everywhere. He was high up in all the underground circles (not including Rider ones, of course), and had a terrifying reputation pretty much everywhere.
The more Seth learned, the more he wanted to find him and stop him. Klaus was the mastermind behind so many shitty things done to innocent people. He should have been stopped years ago. Him, and all those like him. That was what Riders should have been doing. Yet Seth never even heard mention of them showing any kind of interest. The people had been on their own so long they probably wouldn't have recognized help if it smacked them in the face.
Finally, when Seth realized his magic was down to the dregs, he had to call off his search. Klaus was clearly a master at avoiding detection. It could take weeks to find him, and Seth no longer had the energy. He wanted to check on Anya anyway. He had been gone much longer than he meant to be as it was.
So Seth marshaled his power for one last jump and stepped through a portal dimension and onto the Dorreh family's front lawn. He came out very close to Corrik, which proved to be a good thing as his depleted magic suddenly took its toll on his body. He stumbled right into the dragon with a grunt. "Sorry, Corrik." He shook his head and straightened again, running a hand through his hair. "I should really stop doing that," he said, mostly to himself.

Parker didn't know what he was expecting. Of course, they'd be busy tomorrow. Just because the crew was getting to have a bit of fun tonight, didn't mean they didn't have responsibilities in the morning. Yet, before the disappointment could sink in, Sol turned and offered dinner instead. A small smile tugged his lips upward. "Dinner would work just as well," he said.
~*~*~
Here it is! Also, Natewantstobattle does a lot of anime covers, and you should check out his stuff. Just saying. He also does a full version of this song and the ending song as well, I think.
I will definitely try. XD I love them so much. Fullmetal Alchemist will forever be an obsession of mine. I even watch Mustang and Lust's voices actors play DnD. XD)
(lol, yes, that's it.) Corrik lifted his head and turned to look at him, yet he didn't give any kind of snappish reply. Did you find anything? he asked. His own demeanor was more subdued than normal. He mourned for Parker as the rest of the family did. Sure there was still a chance he was alright, but if Seth hadn't found anything useful, then the chances of tracking him down was slim. He might be alive, but he wouldn't be returning home. You were gone longer than you said you'd be. Please tell me you were tracking his trail.

Sol grinned back. "Good."
( And here, I think, would be a good spot to skip. ;D )
~ • ~ • ~ ( Okay, yeah, that's Sol. It has a few lines that could be Seth, but the majority has very Sol vibes. And I will definitely be looking into more of his stuff. ;D Good. (Good. xD) Seth sighed. He circled his shoulder to work out a kink. "Yes, I did, and yes, I was. I got the name of the guy who actually took Parker, and I tried to find him, but the bastard isn't easy to track down. I'll keep trying, but..." He didn't finish, just reaffirmed, "I'll keep trying." He rubbed his forehead. A headache was forming, which was common when he depleted his magic. "Since you're here, I take it Anya's in the house?"

By this time, the household had settled into quietness. Maria was the only one in the kitchen, working on dinner. Her were red and puffy from her earlier crying. When Seth walked in, though, she offered him as cheerful of a smile as she could manage. "Ah, there you are. We were wondering where you had gotten off to," she said.

( Hm. That's a good question. Should we add in some interactions, maybe over breakfast? )
~ • ~ • ~ ( It is. xD Haha, yeah, I probably watch Inuyasha about that often. It would be more like twice a year if it wasn't so long. But it's not a bad long. The Naraku fights can get a big repetitive, but they're pretty spread out so you don't really notice unless you've seen it enough times (or you're recieving forewarning of it... xD). Once all the main characters are introduced, you actually get a lot of character development between all the fight scenes. I especially love seeing Inuyasha's character growth. It always amazes me when I start over and I see how he started out vs. the him I just saw at the end. He grows up so much, yet he remains the lovable idiot he started as. xD )
Seth's stomach rumbled the moment he caught scent of the cooking meal. He hadn't eaten all day, he was suddenly reminded. But he ignored his stomach and focused on the woman preparing the food. Seeing her tear-stained face made him want to hug her, like he would his own mother. He wasn't sure how that would be recieved, so he refrained.
He cleared his throat. "Yeah. Sorry. I was looking for answers. I have some, but nothing really promising. I'm sorry."

Sol hadn't been lying when he said the next morning was going to be busy. There was more foot traffic going to nd from the ship then he'd ever seen. Goods were exchanged, items loaded and unloaded. It reminded him of an anthill with everyone running about. He was right there with them, doing what he could and trying to stay out of the way of others. All while trying not to be distracted.
All day, his mind turned to the dinner for the evening. Butterflies of both excitment and nervousness had made their home in his stomach. Focusing on the work at hand helped to forget them, but any time he got a moment of rest, they would be back. If only he had some nicer clothes with him. Would he have time to buy a new set? It wouldn't hurt to have more clothes. But would he need to? Sol never said anything about this place they were going to. Would it be a more causal spot, or a little more former. He really hoped it was casual. Why wouldn't it be? It was only a first date. That didn't call for anything special, did it?
~•~•~
(It is, but it's a movie. A very, very, very good movie that has to be my favorite. It's so wholesome!)
Maria gave him a knowing looking and nodded. "She's in the living room," she told him.
Both her and Jakob were in the living room, in fact. Trenton, though he had wanted to stay until Seth returned to hear any news, had to get home to his own family. The other men were out at the barn. Despite the current mood, there were still things that needed to be done. Jakob had heard of the news just two hour ago, having been with his fiancee all morning. Now, he took his turn sitting vigil with his sister, wishing there was something he could do.

Sol didn't have a spare moment all day. A sailor's life started early, so everyone was already hard at work by the time the sun was fully risen. Sol wasn't doing work so much as supervising and directing. Most of the workers were locals, as he had given his crew the day off. Some were present regardless, working alongside the dock workers, but Parker was the only would-be slave present. Everyone else was in town spending Sol's money.
That was the other thing that occupied Sol's day: paperwork, his least favorite part of his job. Once the main work was done, he left the half dozen members of his crew to organize the hold while he locked himself in his office (the public one; he wasn't in the mood for dealing with his brother's demoness). He spent most of the afternoon in there.
~ • ~ • ~ ( Nice. I'll add it to the list. ^^ )
Seth nodded. "Thank you." He headed that way. He found Anya and Jakob there, in about the positions he expected. He paused in the doorway for a minute, unnoticed, before crossing the room to sit beside her. "Hey," he said.

When the main work was down, Parkr stood by the railing of the ship, using his shirt to wipe the sweat from his forehead and face. If nothing else, he was certainly going to find a place to shower before dinner. He just needed to figure out where the best best would be.
Qeving his way across the deck, he sought ut Beckham, who had been helping direct the work. He would have looked for Sol, but he had noticed the captain had went to his office. So he wasn't going to bother him. "Is there anything else that you would like me to do, sir?" He asked when he reached the first mate.
~•~•~
Jakob looked up as Seth entered. He nodded to him, wanting to ask about Parker but half afraid to hear.
Anya was curled up on the couch beside him, head on her brother's shoulder as she stared blankly in space. It wasn't until he spoke that she lifted her head. "Where have you been?"she asked, lifting her head to look at him. "Did you find anything?"

"Yes, sir," Parker said, dipping his head slightly. "One more thing. Where is the best place I can get a decent shower? Would it be one of the inns?"
~•~•~
The little hope she had sparked smothered itself just as quickly as it had flared to life. She nodded, but before she could resumed her huddled position, Jakob spoke up.
"Here, now that Seth's back, I'm going to go help Momma with dinner," Jakob said softly. He righted his sister enough to stand up. Pressing a kiss to her head, he stood, gave Seth another nod, and headed for the kitchen.

Sol tossed down his pen, finally finished, and rubbed his eyes. He stood and quickly tidied up, then headed out onto the quarterdeck. He was just in time to see Parker leaving the ship. Sol walked across the quarterdeck to the balcony rail and watched him go.
Artemis sat alertly beside him, staring in the same direction, though she was watching much more than just Parker. Apollo, however, had definitely noticed Parker leaving. He put his paws up on the rail beside Sol and stared after him with a soft whine. Sol put his hand on his big white head. "It's alright. He'll be back."

Parker followed Beckham's instructions nd easily found his way to the Mighty Seahorse (n incredible name by the way). He stepped inside and looked around for the woman who owned the place. She spotted him first. Greeting were given and introductions made before he asked if he could use the showers. He wasn't surprised when she agreed, and he thanked her heartily.
It had been far too long since he had a decent shower. He might have told himself he wasn't bothered by the limited showers on the ship, but he found out just how spoiled he was when he was finally able to bathe longer than three minutes at a time. Parker took up to thirty minutes scrubbing every last inch of dirty and grim clinging to himself while he had the opportunity. Once he was finished, he found a new set of clothes waiting by his old one. They weren't much fancier than the ones he already had, but at least they were clean.
Dressed once more, Parker returned to the front desk and offered to pay for the clothes she had provided. His offered was waved away under the claim that this time it was on the house. He thanked her once more before leaving the inn. The sun was still plenty high in the sky, but he didn't want to risk exploring and be late. So, with his old clothes in his arms, he walked back to where the Comet was docked.
~•~•~ "And what if we can't?" Anya murmured. "You said it yourself the guy responsible was hard to find. If we can't find him, what chance do we have of finding Parker?"

( Thank you. It just kinda came to me while I was working earlier. ^^ )
Once they could no longer see Parker, Sol went down to the main deck to get an update from Beckham. Then he went down into the hold to see the finished result of the days labors. With the hold loaded up, the ship clean, and all his paperwork done, the Comet was once more sea ready. All that was left was to refill the water tank. Sol offered Beckham the chance to head ashore, but he declined. So Sol went ashore instead, leaving his ship in Beckham's capable hands. After a quick pitstop, Sol headed for the Mighty Seahorse for his own shower, just missing Parker.
~ • ~ • ~ "Hard isn't impossible," Seth answered. "And I have always excelled when things get hard. Besides, Parker is a smart guy. For all we know, he'll free himself and come home all on his own. It's just a matter of time."

Sol didn't mean to linger at the Mighty Seahorse. After a quick yet thorough shower, he dressed in a fresh shirt and pants, and his blue and gold frock coat. On his way out, Mary stalled him, and drew him into one of her infamous long drawn out conversations. Sol tried many times to politely excuse himself, but it took almost half an hour before he was successful. Finally free, he headed back to his ship.
~ • ~ • ~ When her silence continued, Seth let out a quiet sigh and held her tighter. "He'll be okay," he said. "He's your brother, your twin. If you can go through crazy shit and still be you, then so can Parker."

Parker had taken up a spot on the side of the ship opposite of the gang plank. For several minutes, he had been occupied with watching the sea birds swoop and fly about as he waited, He could have found something else to do to bide his time, but he didn't want to start anything he wouldn't be able to finish, nor did he want Sol to have to hunt him down whenever he returned. Yet having nothing to do gave the butterflies in his stomach much more attention than he would have liked. So that was why he didn't noticed Sol's return as he was lost in thought, trying to calm his nerves.

To that, Anya had to smile a little bit. "Gods know he's deserves one," she murmured. Her brother had never fully bounced back from the rejection of his crush years ago, so the idea of him finding someone whom he might give him back his confidence like Seth had done for her did put a small hope in her hear. But the smile didn't stay for long. "I just want him back."

(Gosh, I have no idea why my muse for these two have been so low. :/ This is a good opportunity to showcase both her and Cal's fighting, and Kyra's just not helping me at all. I can barely get a decent paragraph out of her.)
This was more her speed. Kyra dodged the punch easily, dropping low to sweep her leg around in an arch, hoping to catch the other Rider off her guard. She managed to sweep one foot off the ground, but she was too quick to get both caught. Still, she worked with it. Immediately, she surged up, ramming her shoulder into the Rider's abdomen to tackle her to the ground. It worked, but she felt the sharp burn of flames on her shoulder. Biting back all kinds of curses, she wrestled with the other woman, one knife poised and ready to end the fight once and for all if it weren't for the defenses of her opponent. The other woman didn't appear to be too concerned about the blade. Why would she when she could hold out until her fire magic had finished the fight long before he stamina wore out. She had mere seconds to decide what to do before serious injures occurred. With a snarl, Krya pulled back her dagger, and, at the same moment, headbutted the Rider as hard as she could. The outcome was what she had hoped for. The woman was dazed enough where her magic falter, the , and Kyra didn't hesitate to find a new home for her blade in her chest.

The mast blocked Sol from seeing Parker right away, but Apollo trotted forward him confidently, so Sol followed. He spotted his quarry a moment later and headed that way. Apollo beat him there, and threw his paws up on the rail so he could reach Parker's face for kisses.
~ • ~ • ~ Seth considered that small smile a victory, even though it didn't last long. He dropped his chin to rest on the top of her head. "I know, love," he whispered. "I know."
~ • ~ • ~ ( It's totally okay. Sorry, I wasn't trying to rush you. I was just seeing where you stood on the skip/don't skip. ^^ )
Kyon couldn't take on two dragons. He could barely handle one. At least, not on the ground. In the air he could do more, and in getting these two off the ground the humans would have one less thing to worry about.
He backed up a bit, making the dragons think he was retreating, only to suddenly spread his wings and —
A weight crashed into him, driving him hard into the ground. A roar of pain escaped him before he could stop it as he felt talons dig into the unprotected membrane of his wings. He tried to twist around to see who it was, but the red dragon planted a foot on his head, one long claw curled toward his eye. It stopped just shy, but the threat was clear. The other dragon already had his tail pinned, and the one on his back was effectively pinning his wings. He was trapped.
The Rider and Callum charged each other. Morgan was less than a step behind, until a flash of pain hit him, followed almost instantly by the cry of his dragon. Morgan stumbled to a stop and spun. He found the dragons easily enough, and the sight had a wave of pure terror sweeping through him. For several agonizing seconds he was paralyzed by it. Then Callum came sliding toward him after the white-haired Rider landed a well placed kick, and it acted as a jumpstart to his mind.
Morgan yanked a pen-sized sword out of his pocket and shouted the Ancient word for grow. With a flash of light, little sword became big sword, it's golden blade blazing in the light. Morgan flipped it expertly as he stalked toward the Rider. "Call off your dragon. Now."
He just laughed as he switched his knife for his own sword. The blade was ice-white, almost clear. If Morgan didn't know swords, especially ones of Elven make, he would have thought it was made of glass. "He will die before you unless you stand down. Now," he mocked
Morgan wavered. The mere thought of losing Kyon pierced him deeper than any blade. He doubted he would even survive the real thing.
"Give me your sword."
Morgan's gaze snapped up. Callum was beside him, gazing steadily. "Give me your sword, Morgan," he said again.
Morgan shook his head. "I can't. Kyon —"
"Will be fine. He told you to stand down if you wanted to die first. So stand down, and give me your sword."
"I don't think that's —"
The Rider's bark of laughter cut him off. "Boy, what makes you think you can best me, with or without a Rider's sword?"
Callum swung his gaze to him. "I don't need to tell you that. All you need to know is I can — or I'll die trying. You can kill Morgan afterward, if you're so damn sure I'll lose."
Morgan looked back and forth between Callum and the white-haired Rider. He had no doubt he could best the other Rider, but not if engaging in that fight cost Kyon his life. Morgan didn't know what Callum's skills were. All he knew was that he had training, though Morgan couldn't fathom when or where. As far as he knew, from Cresseida and Cami, Callum spent most of his days at work, his evenings with friends, and his nights alone (according to Cresseida), or possibly with various female companions (according to Cami). So unless Callum was lying to someone, Morgan couldn't see how he had found the time for the kind of training needed to best a Rider.
Still, when Callum looked at Morgan again and held out his hand for his sword, Morgan couldn't help wondering if maybe Callum did have what it takes.
The Rider snorted. "Have it your way. Give him the sword, but know it will only prolong your dragon's life." He pointed his own sword at Morgan. "After I deal with him, you will be next."
Morgan slowly turned back to Callum. His stare hadn't wavered, even when his would-be opponent spoke of their coming deaths. Morgan took a deep breath… and flipped his sword so the grip was toward Callum. "Show him what you're made of," he said with more confidence than he felt.
Callum didn't respond. He simply took hold of the sword — with his left hand, Morgan noted, though he was quite certain Callum was right-handed. It was a good thing his hilt had been designed for a right or left-handed grip. Once he had it, Callum flipped the sword, neatly and with skill, though he lacked the ease and grace Morgan had when executing the same move. Then he turned and marched toward the Rider. His gaze and his tone were calm and cool when he stopped and said, "Let's do this."
The Rider snickered. "Yes," he answered sarcastically. He raised his sword. "Let's."

And kisses he received. Parker didn't realize the dog was near him until it was too late to avoid the licks given. He laughed and gently pushed his face away. "I didn't need that, but thank you anyway," he said, laughing and looking back to see Sol approaching. While his clothes weren't anything fancy either, the blue frock coat he wore was certain better looking than the plain shirt and pants he himself wore. Of course, he was a captain, though. He had the privilege of dressing finer than his crew. At least, that's what he chose to believe and not because the place they were heading too was a nicer establishment.

Anya stayed there, having no more to say. She did, however, reach out of her cocoon to grab a bit of the front of his shirt. There was no reason really for it, but it made her feel the slightest bit better. Eventually, the rest of the Dorreh family returned home, entering in the back door and lingering in the kitchen. If wasn't long before Marcus appeared in the doorway. "Dinner's ready," he replied. Composed as he was, there was evident signs of stress and strain on his features.
Anya shook her head. "I'm not hungry," she muttered.

(Nah, you didn't rush me. I needed to get it done. XD
Also, nice Percy Jackson reference. XD That's the one and only part of the movie that I remember.)
(Since Kyra killed the woman, I'm just going to pause for a moment. Her dragon will die, so I am fine with saying her fight last longer than what I typed (thanks writer's block) and you can work in the moment of that death whenever it suits you. Or, if it's fine and want me to go on and have her interact with the fight still going on, just let me know, and I'll get a response up!)
