This is on my phone so the formatting may be weird???)
Cal followed her into her home, hands still in pockets, breathing deeply. He was afraid to say anything - what would she think? She'd be so upset with him, probably, for never telling him. Finally, Cal sighed and turned to face her again. "You say you blame yourself for Ty's death. I...I know how you feel. I mean, not about that specific thing," he backtracked. "But I know how it feels, the 'dark past.' I made some pretty bad choices back at school. In freshman year, I was definitely running with the wrong crowd. That 'popular' clique adopted me. I think it was because they didn't know me well enough, so they thought my looks and personality warranted an in to their little party." Cal sighed. He knew he didn't make total sense, but hoped Finley would be able to pick out the important things. "They were partiers. Had a different girl a week." Cal snorted. "I ran with them unquestioningly until Ty died. After that, I got my act together. I got my grades up. I became a captain in my sophomore year of high school. I made some new friends. Ty's death made me turn my entire life around. If he didn't, God knows where I'd be. I might not be swimming anymore, and I definitely wouldn't be going to the school I'm going to now. In my junior and senior years, things were so good. I was still running with that crowd, but I was the voice of reason. I kept those guys out of trouble." Cal sighed, burying his face in his heads. "If Ty didn't die, I wouldn't be me. It might have been me in the car crash, and it might fully well have been my fault." Cal let out a breath, refusing to bring his head up. "I'm sorry. I'll go. I needed to say this to you. You don't have to be burdened with my sob story."

(It's fine to me.)
Finley was silent as he talked. To be honest, she did't see the connection between her guilt and what he was confessing, and the tales of his past relationships did little to put her at ease. However, she wasn't so dense and absorbed in her own misery to see what he was trying to do. It was a strange sight to see him look this upset and beaten down over something. This wasn't easy for him to say, that was clear. She took a deep breath, gathering her thought before making a effort to respond. "Cal..." she started. "I've feared for so long that your family resented me for Ty's death, and it was only because of him that they didn't say it to my face. Then you confirmed that at least one of you did blame me. It shouldn't be surprising to me since I caused something so terrible. It's hard for me to believe something good could have came from that, but if what you say is the truth, I guess it's something positive to think about." The girl stepped over to him, yet refrained from reaching out to touch his arm like she wanted to. At least for the moment. "I'm sorry that it took Ty's death to be the motivation to change your life, but if you didn't straighten yourself out, I guess we wouldn't have ran into each other, and I wouldn't have seen this side of you."

"That's right, I didn't do anything!" Alec said, laughing in the midst of the otherwise serious situation.
Abigail frowned and rubbed her temples. "Well, we do want them to go to the concert..." she started, glancing sideways at David.
"I suppose we should talk to her. Well, you should. You're much more approachable. Less--intimidating," David said. He wasn't exactly an intimidating person, but he was rather tall and broad. Besides he didn't want Heather to feel like they were ganging up on him.
"Ugh! I do everything around here!" Abigail wiped we hands on her towel and tossed it at David before marching out the door. Alec moved to make way for her. He raised an eyebrow. "Okay. I guess that's one problem solved. Hopefully."

David had resumed his reading practically before Abigail was out the door. He turned and ambled off again, already gesturing wildly.
Alec grinned down at Tori. "I would love to," he chuckled. "Step into my office." He took the stairs two at a time and landed on his bed, pulling open his laptop. "Let's see..."

"Okay," Alec said after clicking around for awhile. He looked up at her. "There's one place close by, pretty nice, but it's gonna be a little more than $200 for one night. I think a lot of people are going to this concert and wanting rooms." He shifted on the bed, rumpling the blue denim-like comforter beneath him and making the old bedframe creak. Alec was a heavy sleeper because he had to be; otherwise the creaking would keep him up all night. "Or there's another one about forty-five minutes back this way for only about $100. Still pretty nice, and a free breakfast, it's just that we'd have to drive for awhile afterward."

Alec nodded. "Good. That's the one I was going to vote on too." He pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and dialed the number for the hotel, then held it to his ear. He quickly made the reservation, then hung up and let the phone drop onto the bed with a muffled thump. "It's official!" he proclaimed, smiling at Tori. "We are going to the concert and having our very first away-from-home sleepover." He wiggled his eyebrows. "Your mother will be scandalized." It was meant to be a joke, but then he frowned. "My mother will probably be scandalized too."

( Drizzletail) Sophia sat outside her local Starbucks, watching the traffic pass by. This had become her normal routine. Every Friday, she'd stop by the coffee shop and people watch. If this had been several years ago, she would be talking with her boyfriend, making random, and maybe sometimes a bit rude, comments about people that walked by. Now, however, she just watched on in silence. The death of of her boyfriend had taken a number on her, as did his family. She had loved the boy, enjoying any time she had with him. To not have him now just felt... lonely. She sighed and took a sip of her drink, trying to dispelling the thoughts that were rising in her head. ~* It was the wee hours of the morning when Charles left the castle. He sneaked from one of the servant entry doors and cut across the yard to the stables. He was wearing drab clothing: a plain blue tunic, leather jerkin, brown pants, and his favorite pair of hunting boots. It was quiet the contrast from the rich, ornate clothing he normally wore. Why was he dressed so simply? It was to make sure no one noticed him as he entered town. It had been two months since Charles had ascended to the throne. Two months of being locked away inside with person after person telling him of everything that needed to be done. On top of his tall list of responsibilities, there was the hushed murmurings of when he might find himself a wife. All of it was suffocating, so today he decided he'd go incognito nd spend some time in the town settled on the south side of the castle.

Alec laughed. "I make no promises, Tori. No promises." He wagged a finger at her, then wrinkled his nose and shook his head. "Kidding. Nothing scandalous will happen. Except maybe something like this." He leaned over and caught her lips in a kiss. "Or this." He tilted his head and kissed her again, bringing a hand up to comb his fingers into her hair. He loved kissing her, and was perfectly willing to lose a couple hours of sleep for it if she would let him. Then again, who knew how late the concert would go and how much it would take out of them. Last time he went to a concert with her, his ears had rung the whole way home, and he'd fallen asleep as soon as he hit the bed and hadn't woken again for ten solid hours. It wasn't that Alec was a chronic introvert or anything, but the noise and the sweltering mass of people, all strangers, had been draining.
He pulled back slowly and opened his eyes halfway just to look at her. Then he leaned back and said, "Do we really need to sneak around my parents? I mean, if they're all right with our going?"

Alec laughed, secretly waiting for his own heart to stop doing somersaults. "The fun parents. Sure. I think it's more just that they understand the Forbidden Fruit Theory. That telling somebody they can't do something makes them want it more. They didn't spend time telling us not to do things so much as they did explaining to us why they'd rather we didn't do things, and very clearly laying out what the consequences would be if we did. And they followed up. Like, when Belly missed curfew, they actually did lock up and leave a blanket on the hammock for her, they didn't just threaten it. Or when they told ten-year-old me that I could watch the scary movie but I would get freaked and want to sleep in Sarah's room but I wouldn't get to, they didn't let me sleep in Sarah's room. It's annoying when they're right, by the way. But really, what's the harm in going to a concert?"

(*Characters in progress*)
(@ mistress: Nothing much. Just school work mostly. How about you?)
(Don't worry, Leuka. Focus on your school, that's more important. I can wait. ^^ ) Destiny nodded to his words. The thought of just staying inside was nice, but if Mika had planned on doing other things while shopping for her clothes, she didn't want to ruin those plans. It wouldn't be the first time she left the house sore and in pain, so she could manage for a little. However, right now her stomach finally realized she could smell breakfast and grumbled its opinion on what she should do first. "I-Is breakfast ready?" she asked, trying to sit up a little straighter so she didn't look as pathetic.
(Haha, don't worry, I'll use a different character so we don't get confused.) Finley paused at the door, her hand resting on the door handle. It was hard not to look back at him. Maybe she was over reacting. Maybe she was just being over emotional. Maybe if she turned around and apologized to him, apologize to him like she had done at Ty's grave, everything would be better. Yet she lacked the motivation to do so. She didn't know if he would accept her apologies honestly, or if he would only accept them to make her stop crying. There was no comforting hand on her shoulders, no loving arms that wrapped around her like Ty had always done whenever she was upset. But he wasn't Ty. He was Cal, and Cal had never done those things for her. At least, she was never upset in the time they had been dating, and it was just her luck that this had to be the first time he saw her cry. She couldn't say anything. So she waited and listened for some kind of clue as to what she should do. Should she stay and try to smooth this ordeal over with the boy she had grown close to in just a few short weeks? Or should she leave and give them both time to think about all of this? Which option wouldn't put their already crumbling relationship on the line any further? "I-I think w-we just need to think about this," she muttered when he didn't say anything else. "Try to figure out where we stand. Right now, is just... I-I'll see you later." Turning the door handle, she opened the door, not trusting herself to say more. Notmuch,}

Daniel felt tired and needed a wake up call. Today was already taking a toll on him. His life has been totally different ever since his brother died many years ago and he still missed him. This was a day where he was reminded of his brother and it crashed down on him. Even though he missed his brother, he had learned to move on. His eyes set on a local Starbucks and knew that was the place he needed to feel more awake. He strolled there, determined not to feel like he was and get back to his life. He had many things to do, he couldn't think about his brother anymore today.
As soon as he walked through the door, he walked up to the counter and waited in line to get some coffee. He was not a big fan of coffee or Starbucks to begin with in the first place, but he needed it now so it was necessary. A smile came on his face as he thought about what he would be doing later today. It was going to be fun, something his brother would enjoy but Daniel took much more pleasure in.
---
Amelia floated around, a happy smile lit on her face in the early morning. She was at the edge of town with less people around and this made her happy. Also, since most people were asleep at this time, she was about the only soul awake besides the guards. She was itching to leave the walls and go outside to the meadow and forest. It was her happy place. She felt free. The guards were use to it by now, knowing she was always there waiting to be let out but they forced her to wait. Out there, she could dance, sing, and paint the landscape if she chose to do so and other people wouldn't look at her weirdly, even if she didn't mind what they thought.
A lot of days though she would stay inside the walls even though it got boring, but she needed to make money somehow and she did that by creating things people wanted and selling her art. She had to do whatever she could to help with expenses because her family did not have a lot. All of her other siblings left to live somewhere else with their own family so now it was just her and her mom since her dad died.
Today she wanted to feel for a few hours before coming back to work to help care for her mom.

Cal nodded, looking over at her. "I don't think my parents ever blamed you. Or Brandon, or any other family member. No one ever blamed you. You weren't the one who crashed into him, and you certainly weren't the one who made him take the long way home that night. It was always just me that blamed you, but I never sat down and thought about it. That it really wasn't your fault. It isn't. And if I did sit down and think, I don't think I would have blamed you for something you had no part in." Cal really, really wanted to reach out and pull her into his arms, but after the episode they had a few days ago, he didn't know how it would be received by her. But then again, she was certainly closer to him then she'd been a few moments ago, but he still forced himself not to. "I didn't really rehearse what I was going to say, so, well, I don't fully know why I told you all of that. Maybe it was to explain to you that something positive came out of all of this, which it really did. I like to think of myself as a positive," joked Cal weakly, "and maybe to show you that I was so caught up on trying to distance myself from that crowd and who I was before, I never sat down to realize this whole thing wasn't your fault. It was just easier, for me, to blame someone, and not a roll of the dice."

Tori smiled and nodded in agreement. The Jones knew what they were doing when it came to child raising, which they should after having five kids. It was amazing at the difference their technique made compared to the one used by her parents. No meant no, and if she asked why, the reply was "Because I said so." Granted, she ever really tried to argue that weak logic, so she could hardly complain about it. Yet she preferred the method his parents used more. They had never tried to use the "because I said so" card unless it was in a joking manner. Instead, they explained their way of thinking. To her, she learned a lot more from them than her mother. Maybe it was why she liked to think things over thoroughly before diving head first into it. Well, that's still considered as fun parents in my opinion. They never stopped any of us from doing things. They were just disappointed when we did them, she replied. And at least they trust us enough to let us go to the concert in the first place.
(How have you been?)
Sophia was about ready to call it a day and go on home. She had been out and about in the town all morning, running a few errands for her parents and just doing anything to keep her busy. With school out for the summer semester, she didn't have the steady flow of college homework to occupy her time. Sure, she had dace practice later in the week, but that was still three days away. Now, with all the errands run and her coffee almost finished, there was no reason for her to stay here anymore. A sigh escaped her lips before she forced herself to stand up, her eyes scanning the crowd one last time. And that's when she paused.
She must have been seeing things, she had to be. There was no way she was seeing this ghost walking past her. The same dark hair, chiseled jaw, and body structure, it was hard to image anything else than her boyfriend, her boyfriend that has been gone for years. The girl blinked several time as if to make sure she was actually seeing him or if he was a figment of her imagination. Her eyes followed him until he disappeared inside the Starbucks, breaking whatever trace had befallen her. Despite the voice in her head telling her she should just leave, that she was just seeing things because she was thinking of her boyfriend a few minutes earlier. However, her feet carried her towards the doors of the coffee shop, carrying her cup in her hands.
~*
Charles took his horse from the stables, bribing the stable hand who had seen him not to tell anyone he was there. Once his bay mare had been groomed and tacked, he set out for the western gate. Even though the town he was heading to was to the south, if he entered the town from that road, then the townsfolk would know he was from the castle. So, to keep his identity a secret, he decided to bypass the town by going west a could of miles before turning back to the main road. That way, he would appear to be a traveler. Pulling his brown cloak around his shoulders, he set off on the path he had chosen.
By the time he reached the town, the sun was up and shedding its light over the earth. It was peaceful at this time of morning. Everything was so calm and quiet save from the songs of the morning birds. A smile formed on the young king's face. Maybe this would be his new routine: taking a morning ride with no one else around. He liked the idea, so he might just decided to make it a thing. His new found habit, however, was pushed aside as he reached the gates leading into the town, still closed.
Finley finally gave in and closed the distance between them. She had no idea if this was the right thing to do or not, but it was they only thing she knew to do. Her arms wrapped around his neck, hugging him close to her. "Thank you, Cal, for telling me this," she murmured. It might not have eased the guilt she felt, but it did show that he was trying to make up for what he had said several days ago. That was what was important. "You're not the person you were. The old Cal would have cared less about making amends with people, so I'm glad you're trying to change that." Of course, Ty had told her about all of his family's personalities and quirks, so she had heard a lot about Cal even if she didn't really see him much. This was different from what she remembered had been told to her, a good different.

Daniel waited patiently behind people who couldn't make up their mind on what they wanted. He knew what he wanted and was fuming quietly to himself as he got annoyed. How hard was it to make up your mind on some kind of coffee or whatever else you want? It's not that hard! He let out an annoyed sigh when they were finally done but no one noticed. He finally ordered a regular everyday coffee, none of this fancy crap. Things should be simple. He quickly paid and turned around to go outside and get away from the smell of overwhelming coffee.
---
Amelia paced anxiously back and forth in front of the gate and when she was finally able to leave, she slipped between the door, happy to get out from behind the walls. If she could, she would live out here and not in town. It was to stuffy in there. She let out a smile of relief once she was outside and started walking out toward the meadow, not paying any attention to anyone that happened to be going by because she was finally out where she loved. She twirled in happiness once, but remembered to give a glare out to the guard who loved to mess with her. They were friends but she would get him back for making her stay longer than usual. A plan started to form in her mind on how she would do this.
She was so lost in thought she didn't notice someone coming toward her on a horse until she almost bumped into them and fell. Luckily, she stepped aside at the last moment, stumbling over her darn skirts in the process. She really hated those things.

Alec shrugged. "Hundreds of thousands of people go to concerts all the time. Why shouldn't we? Now. Let's make a list of road trip snacking sustenance."
(Did you want to write out the mothers' conversation? I assumed it would be easier to figure out the verdict behind the scenes, but we can rp it if you want.)

(No sweat! Make it whenever you have the time.)
"I'm sorry too," Finley replied, sure that she hadn't made things at better for either of them these last few days. At least they had returned to somewhat steady ground. Where they went from there, she had no idea. Things wouldn't play out like they did whenever Ty and her made up for a fight. Things would be awkward and patchy until they learned more about each other and figured out exactly what comes next. Although she was scared of what might happen if something went wrong, she forced herself to not worry about it. Worrying would do no good.
After a moment, she pulled her head away so she could look at him. "Do you want to stay awhile?" She asked. "Or do you have anything you need to do?"
When Sophia walked inside, she blinked a few times to let her eyes adjust to the lighting difference. That was also the moment when she saw the familiar face making his way towards her. So she hadn't been imagining things. He really was there. And heading this way.
"E-excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you, but you look familiar. I was wondering if ewe might know each other?" She had no idea why she started to speak with the boy. Maybe she wanted to see if he sounded familiar as well.
~*
Charles saw the girl leave the gates, glad that he wouldn't have to wait long for the gates to open. At first, he didn't think anything about her until she started heading in his direction. Her gaze was focused elsewhere, and he doubted is he even knew he was there. His assumption was right when she nearly ran into his horse. It was a good thing he had halted his steed before she was too close.
"Are you okay, Miss?" Charles asked as she stumbled. Quickly, he dismounted and walked over to her, worried that she might have hurt herself.
(Haha, Same here. Sometimes parents just need to assert their authority that way. It all depends on the situation.)
Tori smiled and nodded. I vote we just pack up a lot of your mother's baked goods. That should last us part of the trip.
(Nah, we don't have to do the conversation unless you just want to. Her mother is still going to stand firm on her decision because she doesn't like having Mama Jones try to tell her what to do. If you want to time skip, I'm good with it.)

Cal blinked when she pulled away her head. "No, no, I'm free for a little while. You're - you're sure you'd be okay if I stayed?" Cal questioned cautiously. He knew she wouldn't have had offered if she wasn't serious, but he still had to make sure, to make sure he wasn't dreaming her wanting to spend time with him. He wasn't sure why he was worrying so much about their standing - they were okay for now. Yeah, it'd be awkward between the pair for awhile, there was no escaping that, but it hopefully wasn't going south anytime soon.
Probably it was because this was, honestly, Cal's first real relationship. He wasn't sure how long things truly took with a person to get them back to normal, but Finley, as cheesy as it sounded, was worth waiting for. Cal was certain of that much.
