But I saw a post on tumblr that made me open this again.
Guess what is it.
Guess again.
WRONG!
It's about Spottedleaf being sue.
Okay I know I know but I feel like this needs to be said.
If you analize the definition of mary sue you can tell Spottedleaf isn't one. So let's analize Spottedleaf, Dovewing and Firestar who are often accused of being sueish.
“The prototypical Mary Sue is an original female character in a fanfic who obviously serves as an idealized version of the author mainly for the purpose of Wish Fulfillment.”
Spottedleaf - I don't think this is the case.
Dovewing - same as Spottedleaf.
Firestar - same as others.
"She’s exotically beautiful, often having an unusual hair or eye color—”
Spottedleaf - I feel like she is one of the most realistic colored cats in the whole series, probably because she was one pf the forst characters. She was called beautiful though, I recall that.
Dovewing - I think she was described as pretty, but her color isn't very unique.
Firestar - Well, his flame-colored pelt was often described as charactersistic and one-of-a-kind if you know what I mean.
“—and has a similarly cool and exotic name.”
Spottedleaf - The name rocks. Really. And it is kind of unique as well.
Dovewing - Not really. Her name is pretty normal.
Firestar - Once again, he would be the only cat with Fire- if Leafstar haven't named Firefern after him so I guess we can count that as unique and exotic.
“She’s exceptionally talented in an implausibly wide variety of areas—”
Spottedleaf - as far as we know she was great medicine cat, but considering she was killed two times she probably sucked at fightimg. That or she was lazy.
Dovewing - where do I even start! Great hunter and fighter? That sums up variety of warriors areas.
Firestar - I remember that he was called good fighter, as for hunting I can't remember.
“—and may possess skills that are rare in the canon setting.”
Spottedleaf - she speaks with StarClan, but then again all med cats do.
Dovewing - if seeing what happens on other places is not special even for warriors then I'm Trump's mother. Honestly her powers don't fit in like Jayfeather's or Lionblaze's.
Firestar - He was part of a prophecy, but he didn't posses any special powers.
“She also lacks any realistic, or at least story-relevant, character flaws — either that or her "flaws” are obviously meant to be endearing.“
Spottedleaf - about her character isn't much known, so let's leave this as no.
Dovewing - Oh boy. From Spottedleaf she is different in the way that we knew her for 6 books, we even had her pov! And yet, I cannot find ONE flaw I can symapathize with so she seems very sueish to me. I really so loathe her.
Firestar - when we had his pov, he was easy character to sympathize with. Loyal, yet tested all the time for his kittypet blood, code breaker that seemed to get away with everything, yet good-hearted and brave.
"She has an unusual and dramatic Back Story.”
Most of the warriors characters don't have dramatic backstories.
“The canon protagonists are all overwhelmed with admiration for her beauty, wit, courage and other virtues—”
I feel like the only cat this goes for is Dovewing and just little, as the Clan seems to admire her as a warrior for her skills and then when she "saves the clans from the dark forest"
There is much more but I just wanna watch my show and it's 11:30pm here so this is it.
