Because he's a cat.

I love that book, and I even have the version with that cover!
But anyways, to answer your question, I think it's just by coincidence.

This kind of reminds me of the first cover of ...Rising Storm the one that had Firestar and Cloudpaw on the cover.

I just read the synopsis for that. Wow, that reminds me of warriors. I wonder which came first? Tailchaser's Song came first. I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of the other media the Erins said inspired warriors. I believe they confirmed that Watership Down was an influence in making the series.

Never heard of that book...(what's it about) I got this from TV Tropes: Tailchaser's Song is a Fantasy novel written by Tad Williams and published in 1985. The story follows several feral cat communities, united in their beliefs and by their service to the Queen of Cats residing at Firsthome, the ancestral birthplace of Catkind. The cats of the novel have their own mythology: they believe that everything was created by a feline god called Meerclar Allmother. The world was originally populated with cats, children of the Two: Harar Goldeneye and Fela Skydancer. Notable among the children of the Two are the three firstborn: Viror Whitewind, Grizraz Hearteater, and Tangaloor Firefoot. Driven by his jealousy of his siblings, Grizraz creates a demon hound to kill everyone. Whitewind succeeds in stopping it, but dies in the process; later, Tangaloor traps Grizaz beneath a tree. Grizaz, after being trapped underground for a while, is blinded by the sun, and digs a hole into the Earth, where it is said he still remains.... Fast forward, and we meet Fritti Tailchaser, a tomcat in the Meeting Wall Clan. His family mysteriously disappeared some time ago, and he was left with no one but his friend, Hushpad. Later, she disappears too. As it happens, quite a few cats have been disappearing, and the Clan Elders send an envoy to Firsthome to ask the Queen for help. Tailchaser is not selected, so he sets out on his own with his lovable friend Pouncequick. Other members of Tailchaser's fellowship are a crazy cat named Eatbugs and Firsa Roofshadow, a sole survivor of a cat massacre.

I've heard of Tailchaser's Song and have been wanting to read it for a long time now. There's also apparantly going to be a film based on the book.
And yes, Fritti does look like Firestar. Considering this and the fact that some consider TS to be a spiritual predecessor to Warriors, I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of the books that inspired the Erins to write the series.

All ginger cats are Firestar fact. Does he count as ginger? I thought he counted as an orange, or are they the same thing?

I have actually heard of people calling Tailchaser's Song a "warriors rip-off" even though this book came way before Warriors was introduced to the world.

All ginger cats are Firestar fact. Does he count as ginger? I thought he counted as an orange, or are they the same thing? ginger=orange from what I've heard, Tailchaser's Song was almost certainly a MAJOR point of inspiration for the OS, and of course the green-eyed ginger tabby is the hero because Green Eyes and Bright Blazing Fiery Fur
