I've always enjoyed making these threads, but due to school starting up and my crazy life, I haven't been able to create a name rater on the new forums. That all changes NOW!!
There are three options you have for a name critique.
1) Basic Rater.
♢You post the name of your character and I'll give you a rating 1-10.
2) Reasons.
♢You post your character's name and I'll rate it 1-10, but I'll add my reasoning behind it.
3) Advanced Rater.
♢You post the name, apperance, and personality of your character and I'll score it out of 20 following the format below.
5 points are given out for the flow of the name
10 points are given for how well the name fits the character.
3 points are given out for originality.
2 points are given out if the name avoids any taboo prefixes and suffixes (moon, river, thunder, etc.)
Please refrain from posting more than five cats in an advanced search.

•♕• silverowl: with a quick tongue and preference for gossip, silverowl is an acquired taste. she mostly mopes and snaps at her clanmates, but if you work your way past her outward appearances you will find yourself a loyal friend and fearsome protector. she has no mate, nor is she looking for one. gray tabby she-cat with bright yellow eyes and gray toes, ear tips, and tail tip. juncostep: one of the brightest minds the clan has seen, juncostep is a loyal thunderclan warrior. although he excels at planning battle strategies, his challenge comes in carrying them out. he is incredibly clumsy, but he makes up for his lack of motor control in his outlook on life. juncostep sees the best in everything, a trait enjoyed by leaftail, a cream she-cat who shares a reciprocated crush on juncostep. blue tuxedo cat with blue eyes, and a bobbed tail. sootspots: gentle and kind, sootspots is always looking out for her friends and family. some say she takes too much upon her shoulders, and often hides her own feelings for the sake of others. a true pacifist, sootspots despises fighting, which unfortunately clashes with her natural talent for it. she has never told anybody this, afraid of letting down her clan, and appearing ungrateful. sootspots is in a relationship with a black she-cat named starlingeyes. sootspots is all white, with three black spots on her head and over her shoulders. she has yellow eyes. redthroat: redthroat is a jaded warrior, with a gruff appearance and a deep voice. most of his peers see him as a reliable warrior, though somewhat of a buzz-kill. while he an get annoyed with the antics of his clanmates, redthroat loves his mate, harefur, and his kits above anything else, to the disappointment of eelslip, a tom who had a fling with in the past. redthroat is a brown tom with a russet patch on his throat and green eyes. also im going to post some for the basic name rater? eelslip tidepool rosewater heatherbreeze beetlewing stoatstrike silverbrook quickhare cloudstorm fawndapple honeyeyes rookcry cricketsong •♔• |

Silverowl
Flow: 3/5. The being of -owl makes a strange shape when I pronounce it, and leaves a strange overall feeling to the name.
Fitting the Character: 10/10. The prefix of silver could easily be describing her silver color and the suffix fits her feisty personality.
Originality: 2/3. The prefix isn't that original, and I see quite a few ocs with silver-, but -owl is unique and different
Taboo: 2/2. No taboo prefixes or suffixes used.
Total: 17/20
Juncostep
Flow: 2/5 Having the two syllables in the prefix makes the name seems long and awkward. The transition between the two words is also lacking smoothness.
Fitting the Character: 7/10. I'm not a fan of the junco prefix since it doesn't quote describe the cats apperance (which is one of the things I look for in a prefix), but step fits really well.
Originality: 3/3. I haven't seen too many -steps and junco is a new prefix for me.
Taboo: 2/2. No taboo prefixes or suffixes used.
Total: 14/20
Sootspots
Flow: 5/5. This name has great flow. The transition is almost perfect and I love the repeating s sounds.
Fitting the Character: 7/10. The name definatly fits her apperance, but I don't feel the suffix shadow fits her personality that well.
Originality: 2/3. Soot is pretty common, but spots hasn't been used to frequently.
Taboo: 2/2. No taboo prefixes or suffixes used.
Total: 16/20
Redthroat
Flow: 4/5. The flow is pretty average, not half bad, but not phenomenal either.
Fitting the Character: 9/10. The name fits pretty well, the prefix describing his appearance, as does his suffix. However, one thing I like about this name is that the suffix describes both his personality and appearance.
Originality: 2/3. Not the most original prefix, but the suffix is unique.
Taboo: 2/2. No taboo prefixes or suffixes used.
Total: 17/20

Flamestrike - Dark ginger tom with yellow/golden tabby stripes and amber eyes - Flamestrike is ambitious and fierce in battle. His name was given to him because of his fighting technique which often comes as a hit and run
Spidertail - black tom with a redish spot on his back - Spidertail is often reserved and stays away from most people, but don't let his shyness fool you, he has a sharp tounge.

Could I get reasons for these? (:
Duckfoot - With the common thick, glossy fur of a RiverClan cat, Duckfoot appears to be rather large. Beneath his thick fur is a well muscled body, rendering him to be quick and powerful. His fur is a unusual lighter brown; it seems to shine a dull gold when caught in the sunlight. His pelt is covered with an array of dark, muddy brown spots that fade into his fur, making it appear that he had been splattered with mud. His eyes are a deep amber, with extremely faint golden flecks dotting his irises. Strangely, Duckfoot only has a very small portion of his tail; the edges of the fur seem to wisp off, creating the illusion of feathers. His massive paws have webbing between the toes, allowing him to swim more easily.
Twitchpelt - Twitchpelt is your average looking mackerel tabby. His fur is a soft, cloudy grey, almost like the sky after rain. Darker grey stripes run from his spine down to his belly; some unbroken, others busted in several places. He has a long, dark grey stripe running along his spine, down to the upper base of his tail. His front paws are a simple white. He also has a white patch on his chest, and on his muzzle. His tail is mainly light grey, with very faint stripes to be seen sometimes, and a white tail tip. His eyes are a very faded light green. He's a bit small for his age. He has an unknown disease that causes him to shudder and twitch randomly (to humans, it's a disorder known as "Feline Hyperthesia Syndrome").

Ashblaze -
Ashblaze is an average sized she-cat who's pelt is a rippling pattern of greys. She has stripes under both eyes, strips around her ears, legs, and tail, and has a black nose and paw pads. Her eyes are dark grey, and her pelt is medium length, particularly fluffy around her tail and cheeks. She is relatively slim and narrow, but very muscular and deadly efficient in battle. Ashblaze is an exceptionally volatile she-cat, having fended for herself since her second moon of apprenticeship. She is harsh in her words, and very rough around the edges, though below it all, you really have a she-cat who wants to love and be loved. The harsh nature of her clan and the prejudice against her due to her father being deemed a traitor and her mother not being around to raise her resulted in her being very hard hearted and easily irritated. She is very protective of herself and anything else she loves, though she has a hard time loving at all. She is relatively young, as well, about 32 moons old.
Cinderdust - Cinderdust is a light grey she-cat with fluffy fur particularly on her tail, cheeks, and legs. Think of her as a Turkish Angora of sorts, just a bit larger. She is average sized. Her back has black tabby stripes, and her paws are all black as well. Her tail tip is black, as is the bridge of her muzzle, and her ears. She has brilliant blue eyes, and a light pink nose and paw pads. She is quite lean and slim, but is a good fighter and has fair muscle mass. Cinderdust is very accepting and loyal to those around her. She was the type of kit who didn't buy into prejudices, and still doesn't. It's hard to sway her one way or another without ample evidence, but if she knows you and you convince her of something, she is exceptionally trusting as well. Selfless, Cinderdust would gladly throw herself in front of a death move to rescue someone she loves, and the young she-cat is also a bit naive. She is young, only about 20 moons old.
Nutfall - Nutfall is a small, chestnut brown tom with runny green eyes. His fur is short and bristly, and he has a somewhat ratty tail, and blinks a lot when he's thinking. Nutfall is very skittish, usually, but when he is called to his medicine cat duties, he can be fairly commanding and a bit rude. He is good at what he does though, and most cats respect him for it.
