Meteorstar: Riley was on her way home from a long day of doing her apprentice ranger duties and studies. Her pink ranger uniform, which had been nice and neat that morning, was now covered in dust and some tiny leaf pieces here and there from where she had practiced parkour in the woods, and from when she had wrestled with some of the other rangers to-be. There was a new tear in the elbow of her left sleeve that she or her mother would have to fix later, and the clothes themselves just looked really ruffled. Despite this, Riley didn't seem bothered by it at all; instead, she smiled as she walked down the path that was a little ways on the outskirts of town, humming softly under her breath as if she didn't have a care in the world. The thing is, she had taken a different path than she normally did that day, because there was apparently an accident on one of the paths that some of the full rangers were taking care of, and she didn't want to be held up by it. So when she saw a path to a ( I think Skylar lived in a cottage? Or a cabin? ) she had never seen before, she paused and stared for a moment, caught off guard and surprised. Who could live here?
Rain: The path led to a small cabin or cottage that was built into the base of a large, old tree. The tree had to be hundreds of years old by how large it was. It may have even been growing since before the town it was near had been created. It was obvious it was well taken care of though, as it was alive and vibrant. As were the many flowers and crops growing outside of the small cottage. Whoever lived there obviously made most of what they needed. And the barely worn path, save for the faint depressions of footprints made days, maybe even weeks ago, showed that it wasn't traveled often. There were lights on, showing that it wasn't empty. In fact, the door was opening. A girl stepped out, and it was almost immediately obvious what kind of Pokemon she was thanks to the nine, long, flowing tails spread out behind her. Though her fur was silver, meaning she was a shiny. She walked over to the flowers sitting on the windowsill, holding up a small pail and watering the plants. The whole time she had a small smile on her face. With the state of the path, it was obvious this woman either got no visitors, rarely left her home, or even both. She didn't seem sad though. She was happily moving around in front of her home, the ears on top of her head flicking a bit every now and then.
Meteorstar: The house, and the flowers and crops, were of course stunning. Riley was very impressed, the sight of the building and forest life breathtaking; she couldn't pull herself away from the sight before her, even if she wanted to. How had she missed out on seeing something so beautiful for her entire life? She was so captivated by this home, what appeared to be this well-kept secret, that she almost didn't see the ninetails walk out the door. But when she did, she almost completely forgot about the cottage itself, for the ninetails was gorgeous, and her tails? Just magnificent. Riley did her best to try and remember this woman, try and recall if she had ever seen her in town, but after a few moments she realized she'd never seen this woman before in her life. She watched as the woman watered her plants, trying to find words, to find her voice, but nothing would come out. . . until she saw the woman's ears twitching, and couldn't help a soft chuckle, and a small smile. The ninetails looked so cute when her ears flicked. "Hello!" she managed to finally call out, waving from the path, offering a warm smile. "Nice out today, isn't it? Your home is beautiful!"
Rain: The Ninetales jumped at the sudden voice, almost dropping her pail. It was obvious she wasn't expecting any kind of voice to be calling out to her. She turned to find the voice, a look of surprise in her ruby red eyes. When she spotted Riley, she smiled a bit. She recognized the garb she was in. Ranger-in-training. Good for her. She then realized she should probably speak up. No need to be the creepy woman who lives in the woods. Then again, she probably already was. "Hello! It's a very nice day. And thank you!" She was wondering how this girl had come across her little home. Most people just ignored her little path. It wasn't hidden, it just didn't attract much attention. This wasn't her first visitor, but it had been quite a while. She honestly couldn't remember. Oh. She was pausing all creepily again. She needed to stop getting lost in her thoughts during conversations. "What are you doing all the way out here?"
Meteorstar: To be honest, Riley probably wouldn't have thought she was being creepy at all. It was fairly obvious she didn't get many visitors, so a girl showing up in front of her house, calling to her, must have been a little strange for her. In fact, Riley felt she might come off as creepy. "Oh! Well, some of my friends at work said that the trail I usually take was blocked off due to an accident that they were still cleaning up after, so I decided to take this other route - and here I am." She cast another glance at the cottage, and at the tree it was settled in, then returned her smile to the ninetails. "I'm rather glad I did, or I would never have seen this place. You must take really good care of it!" After a moment of pause, she smiled sheepishly. She hadn't even introduced herself! "Oh, where are my manners? I'm sorry! My name is Riley. It's nice to meet you, miss."
Rain: The woman smiled and nodded, looking back at the tree that her home was built into. "I've been taking care of it for a while now. Though my mother took care of it before me, and my grandmother before her." Her voice was soft and smooth. It was definitely calming. Just from her voice it was easy to tell she wasn't a threat. Though her posture said that as well. She was too relaxed. She looked back at Riley and bowed slightly. "It's wonderful to meet you too, Riley. My name is Skylar. As you can probably tell, I'm a Ninetales." It was way too obvious what she was. Some didn't give away what they were immediately. And with the training outfit that Riley was wearing, she couldn't exactly tell what species she was. Then again, there were some people who went out of there way to appear unlike their species. It was odd, but it was a trend that had died out in recent years.
Meteorstar: "Really? Then it has been passed down through generations. How cool!" Riley was put a little at ease by the sound of Skylar's voice. She seemed relaxed, so that reassured her that she wasn't feeling threatened, or felt off-put about Riley's presence. She last thing Riley wanted to do was make the girl uncomfortable. Seeing Skylar looking at her outfit, she flashed a smile. "Oh, I'm a Flaaffy. I love your name! It's so pretty." Her eyes flicked to the waters that the ninetails had been watering. "Oh, those are beautiful! What are they, if you don't mind my asking?"
Rain: Skylar glanced back at the flowers, then looked back at Riley after a moment. She rubbed the back of her head, smiling sheepishly. "I can't remember actually. They've been here for so long, that I know that they're extinct everywhere else though." She could only remember so many things, and flowers had never been her forte. One could only fit so much into their brain at once. She waved towards her door, remembering her own manners. "Would you like to come inside? I just finished baking some cookies, and I have some fresh milk as well." She didn't want to be weird, but they'd been standing there talking to each other from a distance. It only felt right to invite her in if this was going to continue. Besides, it had been such a long time since her last visitor. She could use the social time.
Meteorstar: "Is that so?" Riley looked back at the flowers in wonder. They were lovely, and the kind of colors her mother would have loved to have in her own garden. She'd have to do research on them, to see if they really were all extinct outside of this garden. "Well, its wonderful that they live on here!" Her eyes widened at the invitation to come in. "Oh, that'd be lovely! But are you sure I wouldn't be intruding?" Concern lit her gaze. "I really don't want to impose."
Rain: Skylar laughed softly. Her laugh was like tinkling bells, or smooth and flowing like chocolate. "Not at all. I rarely get visitors out here, so I might as well be as homely as I can to the ones that do come here." She went to her door and opened it, stepping aside to let the girl in. "Please. I insist." The smell of wood, sap, and freshly baked cookies wafted from the open doorway. If that alone wasn't enough to get someone running into the house, who knew what would. She smiled softly at the girl, hoping she wasn't being to forward. She didn't want to scare this girl away. She was too nice to do that. Plus, she was kinda cute.
Meteorstar: Riley's mouth almost watered, and she was all the way out on the path! "Oh, dear Arceus, those smell amazing!" After one more moment of deliberation, she flashed a pearly white smile and came towards the ninetails. "Thank you very much, Skylar, for inviting me into your home. Should I take off my shoes?" They weren't necessarily grungy or dirty, but she could still track dirt and dust into the house if she wasn't careful. As she passed, one could smell the scent of Riley's oran and sitrus berry body wash, even after such a long day training out in the heat. Her own voice was soft, but firm, and rather silky itself. As she walked inside, she could help but peer around, interested in if the house was just as beautiful on the inside as it was on the outside.
Rain: Skylar nodded as the girl moved past her. "If you could please?" She followed her in, slipping her own shoes off. Her cottage was very plain. The main room was a living room with a flat screen tv in front of a couch and two chairs close to the front door. There was a table with four chairs around it as well, but it was farther on the left side. The open doorway next to the table led into the kitchen. Then there was a doorway behind the couch that most likely led into a bedroom. There was also a corner in between the two doors, with another. Most likely a bathroom if what could be peeked through the crack was true. That seemed to be it though. It wasn't very big. Skylar moved towards the kitchen, which was where the smell of cookies was coming from. "Would you like regular or chocolate milk with your cookies?" she asked the Flaffy.
Meteorstar: Despite it being small, Riley still thought it was rather nice. It was clean, and the furniture matched the walls well in her opinion. It was simple, but tidy, and quite adorable. She took her shoes off at the door, like she had offered to, and set them neatly together after getting a good look around. "Your home is just as lovely on the inside as it is the outside, Skylar." When she straightened back up, she flashed a smile the beautiful ninetail's way. "Is there any chance I could have regular water instead? Ice water, I mean?"
Rain: Skylar nodded back to her. "Of course." She moved fully into the kitchen, though it seemed no matter where she stood, her tails would always be able to be seen from the doorway. The sound of ice falling into a glass, followed by water filling it could be heard. The fridge opened, then closed. After the sound of another liquid filling a glass, the fridge opened and closed once more. Finally Skylar came back out holding a plat of freshly baked, chocolate chip cookies, and two cups. She set the plate down on the coffee table in front of the couch, then held out a cup of ice water to the Flaffy. She then sat down with her own cup of milk. "Please, sit. Eat as much as you like." She was trying to do her best at playing the host. She didn't do it very often.
Meteorstar: Riley found that she liked watching Skylar's tails move - they just looked really majestic! Not anything like the ninetails she studied with, who was so self-absorbed he sometimes didn't notice, or even care, when his tails knocked something over. Or someone. She followed Skylar into the living room and smiled as she took the glass, their fingers brushing for a split instant before Riley pulled her hand away. The girl was just as warm as she thought she might be! "Thank you very much, ma'am." She took one of the cookies and took a small bite. "Oh, wow, these are delicious!" she gasped, taking another bite, and another, quickly finishing the cookie.
Rain: Skylar smiled at the girl as she devoured the cookie. She was glad she had company once more. She took one for herself, nibbling on it a bit. She couldn't remember why she'd even made them in the first place. She wasn't going to complain though, at least there was someone to eat them. She would probably let the Flaffy take some home with her. Maybe all of them. "I'm glad you like them." She couldn't remember the last time she had smiled this much because of one person. She hoped that this wouldn't be their one and final meeting.
Meteorstar: "Thank you for sharing them with me." Riley reached for another cookie, unable to resist, but didn't let the silence go on for long. "So, is it just you out here? Living all by yourself?" she asked, frowning a little as she turned to face Skylar more. "Oh, ah, forgive me if I sounded rude. I honestly didn't mean to. But that sounds awfully lonely." She took a bite of her second cookie. Good Arceus she could get addicted to these things.
Rain: Skylar smiled at her, shaking her head. "It isn't rude at all. It's a fair question. Yes, I do live out here on my own. While it does get lonely sometimes, I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world. If I ever get too lonely, I can always go into the village." She never socialized with people there except for shop owners, and she rarely made herself known as well. No one really knew anything about her except that she had either been living there a long time and never aged, or her and her mother were practically twins. Though no one would ask them, because next to no one knew she existed.
Meteorstar: Riley nodded slowly, listening to the ninetails speak quietly, only speaking up when she was finished. "This really is a wonderful place to live; I can see why you wouldn't want to move anywhere else." Riley cast her gaze around the house. "This is your entire life, and it would be really hard to just walk away from it." She smiled towards Skylar again, a little more than before. "Forgive me for being so forward, but. . . well, if you're ever in the mood for company, I'd be happy to bring lunch over or something, and talk about the day with you? Or you could even come over to my house. ...it's rather crowded, though; I have five siblings, and we all live with our mother."
Rain: Skylar blinked in surprise at the offer. While this wasn't the first time she'd had company, most didn't want to spend anymore time with her. Well, it was either that or they were just too busy. She normally never saw those people ever again. She felt...touched. She smiled, the happiest she'd been in a while. "I would love that...either of those...Maybe next time I'm in town I can stop by...if that's alright of course..." She didn't want to intrude. Not on an entire family. She was already looking forward to seeing Riley again, though. Even if she wasn't leaving quite yet. The thought of seeing someone more than once that wasn't a vendor, it excited her. In a way that she hadn't felt in a long time. She could finally have a friend again. Though...would they stay friends when she learned of her secret? No point in worrying about it now.
Meteorstar: "Of course it's alright!" Riley chirped, grinning from ear to ear now. She was relieved that Skylar had said yes, and wasn't put off by the invitation. "We always love company, so you can come over any time you want! We'd love to have you stay the day with us." She reached for her water and took a sip before she continued. "Our house is two stories tall, and its out on the hill. It has a training field in the back, and a garden. I could point it out to you the next time you're in town, if you'd like?" Her eyes brightened a little more. "In fact, my mom is making a big dinner tonight, as celebration for my younger siblings all getting good grades. If you'd like, you could come over an eat with us? We'll probably even have dessert, though I'm not sure what kind it would be tonight."
Rain: Skylar blinked in surprise again. Invited to dinner? She hadn't had someone else's cooking in so long! It would be nice to try it out again. She smiled and nodded. "I would love to, if you're really inviting me." She took a drink of her milk, trying to keep her nerves down. "I can always help with the cooking as well. I don't want to just eat your food without giving something in return." She didn't want to be the person that ate and ran.
Meteorstar: "Of course I'm really inviting you. And you wouldn't have to cook unless you really wanted to! After all, you've just fed me some of the delicious homemade cookies you just got out of the oven!" Riley gestured to the chewy treats of sweetness and all that is good on the table in front of them. "If anything, coming over for dinner would be me giving you something in return, which I would be more than happy to do! If you want to cook, though, it could be really fun to cook together? We could teach each other some of our recipes."
Rain: Skylar smiled and nodded. "Well I would love to." She waved her hand to the cookies. "You can bring these home with you if you like. They could be snacks for another time." She then rubbed the back of her head. "Well I do love cooking. It wouldn't feel right if I just sat by while the whole meal was cooked. I think it would be fun if we did the cooking together. Plus it would give us something to do while we learned more about each other, instead of just sitting around." She held up her hand. "Not that it's a bad thing, I just get a little jumpy when I'm not doing anything."
Meteorstar: "Are you sure I could do that?" Riley's eyes flew wide, and while you could tell that is something she'd be very interested in doing, she wanted to make sure it was really alright first. "The family would love that, especially our youngest. I just don't want to take your cookies away, especially after you've just baked them." At the next part Skylar said, about cooking together, Riley's eyes lit up. "Don't worry, I know what you mean! Sometimes I get the same way. So sure, we can both cook tonight! We have a lot of food and ingredients in the house for you to work with, so just name what you want to make, and if we don't have any at the house, I can go shopping real fast after I take you there? That way you can meet my family while I get what we need, and when I come back, we can get started?"
Rain: Skylar laughed softly at her surprise. "Of course you can. I can't even remember why I made them. Since I'm the only one who would be eating them, it only makes sense for you to take them home so more can enjoy them." She then shook her head. "Oh no. I'll happily be the assistant for this. I'll follow the lead of whoever wants to. Besides, the things I make take some very certain ingredients. I don't want to make you run all over the village looking for everything. That wouldn't be very nice." She didn't want to be a hassle. She just wanted to enjoy the company of others for the first time in a while.
Meteorstar: "Well, then, thank you so much! I'm sure everyone will love them - though that might not be a good thing for you. They might keep pestering you to make more!" After she gave a soft laugh, Riley's head tilted a little as she thought. "Well, in that case," she hummed, "how about you and I go get them together? I don't want you to have to run all over the place just to cook some strangers dinner, either."
Rain: Skylar chuckled softly. "I wouldn't mind making more. Sounds fun actually." She then thought about the offer, and nodded. "I suppose that is what would work best. If that is the plan however, we should probably get going." She finished off her cookie and stood up, brushing herself of crumbs. "I'll wrap up the cookies, and then we can go." She took the plate and her empty cup back into the kitchen. It only took her about a minute to exit with a bag that no doubt held the cookies. "I'm ready to go if you are." She smiled at her kindly, glad to have a reason to leave her house besides supplies. Well, supplies just for her.
Meteorstar: "In that case, you might just be the new cookie-maker of our household," Riley said with a laugh. She smiled and nodded, taking the last few gulps of her water before following after the ninetails to put her cup away, soon returning to the front door to get her shoes on. When Skylar came out, she grinned and gave a thumbs-up, using the same hand to reach out for the bag of cookies. "I could carry those, if you'd like?" she offered. "And yeah, I'm completely ready. What did you have in mind to cook, by the way, if I can ask? Or is it going to be a surprise?"
Rain: Skylar smiled at her. "I'll carry it. I'm not as dainty as I might look." She winked at her playfully, moving past her to slip her shoes on. "Besides, there might be more bags to carry once we're done." She made sure that her tails didn't bump into Riley. It was common knowledge that touching a Ninetales' tails could lead to someone being cursed. It took someone brave to touch one. Though no one had ever found out if the rumors were true. Skylar knew they were true, it just depended on the Ninetales. She probably wouldn't mind all that much if Riley touched them at all. She liked this girl. She didn't know why though. She had immediately liked her, and was immediately jumping at the chance to be around her more. What was going on? She hadn't been like this with a person in a long time. She opened her door and stepped outside.
Meteorstar: Riley felt her cheeks get warmer as she smiled back at her, making a sound of amusement. "I guess not. And you have a point there." Her gaze fell to land on Skylar's tails. They were quite beautiful, the fur so sleek and shiny, even for a shiny Pokemon's. Deep inside, there was a part of Riley that wanted to touch them, but she held herself back. She had indeed heard of the curse that touching a ninetail's tail could bring upon you, but this wasn't what kept her from running her fingers through the fur. It was the fact that it was rude, and maybe downright creepy, to just suddenly start petting someone's tails. "So, where to first?" she asked as she followed behind her.
Rain: Skylar thought about as she moved down the path. She hadn't bothered to lock her door, but the surprise of seeing Riley showed just how few people came by. "Well I suppose it depends on what you don't have. I already know I'm going to need some things. Do you have chicken at your house? And beans and rice?" She glanced at the girl. If they did, that would save a lot of time. She knew exactly what she wanted to make, she just hoped Riley's mother didn't mind her cooking in her home. She hadn't done this sort of thing in so long, she didn't know how people would react now.
Meteorstar: "Yeah, we have all of that," Riley said, nodding as she recalled what they had in their cupboards, refrigerator, and freezer. "In fact, we just got chicken yesterday, so its pretty fresh." Riley looked up as they started to reach the thicker part of town, smiling as she looked towards the grocery store. "Is there anything else besides that?" Her gaze drifted a little, focusing on the music shop for a moment. She would tell her mother what was going on on their way back to her house.
Rain: Skylar didn't notice her wandering gaze, to caught up in her thoughts as she organized everything in her head. She nodded. "Good. Fresh chicken is always the best." She turned down a street towards a vendor she knew sold what she needed. "Everything else is for the sauce, and that takes very specific ingredients." (I don't know how it's exactly made, so that's why they're a mystery. XD) She stopped at the vendor, ordered what she needed, and paid. She took the bag and started to move to the next one. "It will be good, I promise."
Meteorstar: "Got it." Riley watched the transaction go down curiously, a small smile on her face. "And I believe you. If you make as good of a dinner as you make cookies, we might just have to hire you as our personal chef!" Grinning sideways at her, she followed her to the next vendor. "Is there anything I can get from the next few down?"
Rain: Skylar looked ahead as she tried to spot the next vendor. "Well I have to get each ingredient from a specific vendor. I know each one and where they're at. It'll be faster to stick together then have you running ahead with only a description. Besides, they're not all in this row. It wouldn't do to get separated." In the long run, it was just faster to do this. If they split up, she would have to explain everything to Riley. Plus they would have to find each other once they were done. That would take way more time in her opinion.
Meteorstar: "Understood. Well, if I can do anything at all that you can think of - carry bags, help pay - just tell me. In fact, I would love to help you pay for all of this, especially since it is mostly me and my family that is going to eat it. It seems more than unfair for you to have to pay for it all?" Riley's hand drifted into her uniform to find her wallet, pulling it out a little to show that she had it with her. "I could get quite a lot?"
Rain: Skylar shook her head quickly. "Oh no. I'm not going to let you pay for this. Consider it my gift to your family. The cookies are just the desert to go along with it. Unless you would like me to make a real desert as well." She smiled at her as she stopped at another vendor. She was quick to make the transaction, putting the bag inside the first. "Only three more things." She enjoyed this. Even just having a person to talk to while shopping made time pass a little faster.
Meteorstar: "I think I'll be making dessert tonight," Riley hummed as she followed the older girl, eyes flicking from vendor to vendor. "That way I can pay you back somehow." Riley smiled when they made their next stop, nodding to the vendor. "I would invite you to stay over to watch a movie with us, but I'm sure you'll want to get home after eating. Plus you don't have any sleep clothes, though I wouldn't mind lending you some of mine."
Rain: Skylar smiled and nodded. "If you say so. I'm not going to argue with you." She was moving over a couple of streets to find the second to last vendor. She blinked and looked at Riley. Offering to let her stay the night? She couldn't believe how much was happening! She nodded. "I would love to stay. Would you really not mind me staying the night? I don't want to impose more than is alright." She giggled a bit. "Though I don't think you'll need to lend me clothes."
Meteorstar: "We would love for you to stay!" Riley's eyes glowed as Skylar accepted her offer. That means they would have even more time to get to know each other! "It could be really fun. We have a guest room, so you wouldn't have to sleep on the couch." She rubbed her hands together as they made it to the last vendor. "You're not imposing at all, by the way. In fact, I'm the one imposing." She grimaced a little then. "If you're uncomfortable with any of this, just say so. I don't wish to be pushy."
Rain: Skylar laughed softly. "Not at all. It's been a long time since I've done this with anyone before. I'm actually quite excited myself." Guest room? That was perfect. Once everyone was asleep, she would be fine in there. So long as no one tried to sneak in for any reason. Maybe to sneak a touch at one of her tails. If there were little kids, there would be plenty of petting out of curiosity. Even for Ninetales that could lay curses, kids were the exception. They couldn't help themselves. If they pulled at all though, they could find themselves getting singed.
Meteorstar: Riley looked more than relieved as they reached the last vendor. "Same here. Oh, I should ask if you're allergic to anything?" She didn't want to make something that could hurt her new friend. Indeed, were would be plenty of tail-petting. But mostly by Riley because she was fascinated with the tails. She was even sneaking a peek at them now. "Oh, and what did you mean about not needing to borrow clothes?"
Rain: Skylar shook her head. "Not that I know of." There were still new things she had to worry about, but she was fine with pretty much all foods. She bought the last ingredient, and put it in the bag. She had been able to get everything into one bag, so Riley didn't have to carry anything. She then smiled at the girl. "Oh, it's nothing. Just know that I've got it taken care of." As long as people stayed out of the room, no one would know the difference. "Alright, lead the way."
Meteorstar: Riley nodded to herself, smiling as she noticed that there was only one thing to carry, and it didn't seem too heavy for Skylar. "Alright. Well, just for good measure, we'll get you an extra blanket. I mean, I know you're a fire type, but it can get pretty chilly back there, so you might find that it comes in handy." If she noticed what Skylar was sort of implying, she didn't let on. "Okay, this way!" She started to make the trek out of town, taking the path that the music shop was on. When they reached it, she smiled towards Skylar. "Just a second." As she poked her head in, she spotted her mother speaking with a customer. "Hey, mom?" she said, waving a little to make sure she got her attention. "A friend of mine and I are going to cook dinner tonight, so you can relax." "Oh, really? Someone I know?" "No, you can meet her when you get home. See you tonight." And she closed the door. "Alright, I'm ready again." And off they went up the hill to Riley and the ampharos family's home. "Here we are." I'll describe it later because I am super lazy atm.
Rain: Skylar chuckled softly. "I think you misjudge how hot a fire type can be. Plus my tails kind of work as a second blanket as well." She wouldn't turn down the blanket if it was offered though, she was too nice for that. She did blink when they stopped at the music stop. Her ears flicked, managing to catch the whole conversation. When she was done, she tilted her head. "Your family runs the music shop?" (This will give you a chance to describe the house. XD)
Meteorstar: "Oh, that's really cool! I figured that your natural body temperature was pretty hot - your hands were warm, after all - but I didn't think about using your tails as a blanket. That's pretty cool!" She flashed a smile, then blinked a few times. "Yeah, we do," Riley said, looking sheepish now. She hoped that they didn't appear like wealthy snobs now - because, in all honesty, the shop was a little small, and while they weren't necessarily poor, they weren't all that rich, either. "It used to be solely my mother and father's, but when dad died a little over eight years ago, mom became the only owner. Now every one of us helps out around the shop and play our part in running it. Not because she makes us, of course, but so she can have a break every once in a while."
Rain: Skylar giggled softly. The Flaffy was absolutely adorable. She was glad they had met. She blinked as she explained her family and their little music shop. "Well, I'm sorry to hear about your father. But I am glad you're all helping your mother. Your father would be very proud of you." She glanced back for a moment, then looked at her once more. "I might have to stop in next time I'm in town. It would be nice to see what you have to offer."
Meteorstar: "Thank you for saying that," Riley said, smiling a little at the ninetail's kind words. "We like to think our dad is watching over us sometimes." She started to walk. "Unfortunately, he died while mom was pregnant with my youngest sibling, Callistus, so he never really got to meet our dad. So we do everything we can to help him know more about him." She dodged the crowd, making sure to stick close to Skylar's side. "Oh, and please, feel free to do so! Everything is half-off on your fist visit! Though we'd give you extra discounts, since you're a friend of the family. We sell a little bit of every genre, and some instruments! Oh, and of course, music books to go with them."
Rain: Skylar nodded. She hated to say it, but death didn't faze her. Not anymore. It hadn't for a while. Especially after her mother passed. Still, she didn't feel like she should say that. Better to just be compassionate. She smiled at the sound of having a discount. "Well that certainly sounds appealing. I'll definitely have to take you up on that offer. Though it might not be all that soon." She doubted that though. She liked Riley, and she would probably like her family. It would be hard not to come into the city more often to see her.
Meteorstar: "That's fine." Riley smiled as they made their way out of the thicker part of town and up towards almost the outskirts, where there were more actual homes than apartments and stores. And soon their house which I am still too tired to describe whoops came into view. Mostly it was obviously built by the family, out-of-the-ordinary in design but pretty simple, and was clean. There was a garden and training spot in the back, as well as flowers in the front, and a little gate and lights. It was a pale white color with a dark roof. For now. Until I change my mind because I do that a lot. "Here we are. My twin is probably here, so he'll probably want to meet you. While the two of you are talking, mind if I go freshen up?"
Rain: Skylar looked over the house, smiling softly. It was very quaint. She liked it. It was big enough for a family, but small enough to not be obnoxious. She was distracted from her musings when Riley spoke again. She tilted her head a bit at the Flaffy. "You have a twin? Interesting." She wondered if they would be fraternal or identical. Identical twins were always fun to be around. She smiled and nodded at the second half of the sentence. "Of course you can. I'm not going to stop you." The girl probably felt uncomfortable being around people while dirty from work.
Meteorstar: On the contrary, Riley simply thought that Skylar might be uncomfortable walking around with her. She wasn't necessarily soaking wet with sweat, but she had definitely worked pretty hard during training, so she didn't know if she smelled or not. "Yeah, his name is Roland. He's pretty nice, so you should have no problem with him." She flashed a mischievous smile. "But if you do, you have my permission to put him in his place. And thank you, I just don't want to be all grungy around you, or while we eat." She then led Skylar to the double doors and opened them up, stepping back to let her inside. "You don't have to take your shoes off if you don't want to."
Rain: Skylar had already been taking her off her shoes when she brought it up, so she smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. Force of habit when it comes to homes." She then nodded as she looked around the inside of the home. "I'll be sure to remember that. If you don't mind, I'll just wander around a little bit, get a lay of the land so to speak." She didn't want to get in trouble for just wandering around the house. "Actually, if you point me to the kitchen, I can start getting prepared for dinner."
Meteorstar: "Alright! Do whatever you'd like," Riley said, making her way towards the stairs until Skylar asked to be pointed to the kitchen. "Oh, yes! Right this way." She turned around a corner and opened a set of double-doors that led into the kitchen. "All the food that doesn't need to be kept cold is in that cupboard over there, and the chicken will be in the top of the top right drawer of the freezer. Every cooking utensil should be clean. Roland, stop drinking milk from the carton!" Roland, who had been at the fridge, scowled as he turned around, milk carton in hand. There were three other **** inside, all unopened, so it didn't look like his germs would be on everything. "It was almost empty, and I'm thirsty." "That is no excuse."
Rain: Skylar followed her closely, looking around as they went. She nodded as Riley pointed everything out, then blinked in surprise when she suddenly pointed out they were not alone in the room. She tilted her head as she studied the twin of the girl who had brought her into her home. They definitely looked alike, but she didn't think they were identical. It was rare having a brother and sister be identical twins. In fact, it was almost a myth that they existed. She'd met some before though. She looked between the two as they spoke, smiling softly. Yep. Definitely siblings.
Meteorstar: Riley grabbed her brother's collar to bring him down to eye level, wagging a finger in his face. "Roland, this is the last time. If you do this again, I'm telling mom." Roland sighed and took the last sip of the milk from the carton, before crunching it up nice and neat into an almost-ball. "Fine, that was the last time I'll do that," he grunted, though his tone suggested otherwise. "So, who is the model behind you?" Roland winked Skylar's way, the kind of fake flirting brothers did to make their sisters mad. Riley managed to not care whatsoever. "Roland, this is Skylar, my new friend." She turned to face the ninetails. "Sorry, I lost my manners again! Skylar, this is the most annoying child of the house, my twin brother, Roland." "Ouch."
Rain: Skylar could immediately tell that this wasn't the first time that this had happened, and it wasn't going to be the last. Oh well. She tilted her head as Roland attempted to flirt with her, managing to look like she didn't understand what he was trying to do. When Riley turned to her, she smiled again. It was obvious that she was too busy looking at Riley to really look at Roland. She did glance at him though. "It's nice to meet you Roland. I hope I'm not imposing."
Meteorstar: Roland noticed this little fact and wiggled his eyebrows a little. Well, well, well, this was an interesting turn of events. "You're not imposing at all." He patted Riley's head. "Go shower, sis. If she needs anything, I'll help her." "Don't scare her off." Riley smiled as she started to walk back to the hallway, touching Skylar's arm as she passed. "I'll be back down in a jiffy."
Rain: Skylar smiled at Riley as she passed, blushing very lightly as she felt the hand on her arm. "I think I'll be fine. Just take your time." She then moved into the kitchen proper and set down the things she needed. She started to move around the room, gathering everything she needed. She had beans, cheese, and chicken. Perfect. Since she had all the ingredients for the sauce in the bags, she was perfectly okay. She wouldn't need much help. She jut hoped that Roland didn't try to force himself in. She didn't want to be rude to him.
Meteorstar: Riley disappeared as she made her way up the steps and into her bedroom to grab a change of clothes. She then headed off to shower. Roland, actually, kept off and away from her, knowing that she would probably want her space in the kitchen, and a stranger crowding her wouldn't be much of a help at all. He did give a few tips, though. "Just a warning, our oven cooks a little hotter than most, so if you need to use it, lessen the time you need to use it for just a tad. Also, the red sauce pan is the best to use of its kind."
Rain: Skylar simply glanced at him and nodded. Their sauce pan was the best of its kind? She doubted it. She hadn't thought of two tools being better than the other unless they did a task faster, or one was completely falling apart. Otherwise she didn't see a difference. While technology had certainly made some amazing advances, sauce pans were still pretty much the same last time she checked. Maybe the metal was different, maybe thickness, but not very much. Same idea applied. Hm. Sometimes her mind wandered much too far for her liking. She shook her head and kept working.
Meteorstar: After that, Roland pretty much didn't say a word to her. He just made himself a glass of milk and sat at the table, sipping it while using his free time to relax. It took about twenty minutes, but soon Riley was back downstairs and making her way into the kitchen. She wore a simple t-shirt, sweater-jacket, and leggings, as well as fuzzy socks that let her slide across the floor as she made her way over. "What'd I miss?"
Rain: Skylar looked over at Riley and smiled softly. "Not much. The chicken is cooking, as are the beans. I'm working on the sauce now." She was adding some ingredients into the sauce pan, stirring it every time she did. Next to her, the beans were being heated up, with a spoon stirring it up every other minute on its own. Skylar's eyes were glowing when that happened, which meant it was probably her. "Everything should be done in about half an hour." She then blinked, having forgotten something. "Oh! I can't believe I forgot. Do you have any tortillas?" She doubted it, but she could always hope.
Meteorstar: Riley, at first, didn't respond to her; instead, she was too much in awe, gazing at the way the spoon was moving on its own. It wasn't as if she hadn't seen psychic types at work before, using their powers to make things move without physically touching them. The thing was, it just always amazed her. And Skylar seemed to be doing this with such ease, not even batting a glowing eye! It was a few moments after Skylar had asked her question that Riley seemed to notice. "O-oh! Sorry! Yes, we do have some tortillas! Do you need a specific type, or do you mind just regular?"
Rain: Skylar giggled softly at the look on Riley's face. She was so cute! "No, any will do. Would you mind preparing them? The microwave is fine, but if there's another option, I would suggest that." She smiled at the Flaffy. "You should make at least three for everyone. Maybe four if you can manage." She would do it herself, but she didn't want the sauce to get ruined, and her Extrasensory was busy keeping the beans from getting burned. If only her tails wouldn't get fur in the food. She might have been able to use those.
Meteorstar: Riley nodded a little as she listened to everything Skylar said. "I can manage that, though Cal and Arine don't usually eat too much, so I'll only prepare two each for them." Riley moved back so that she could tie her hair up in a pony, then washed her hands before working on what Skylar told her to do. "The sauce smells really good already!" she hummed, deciding to prepare them a different way than using the microwave. "I can't wait to try it. I bet its divine." She smiled a little as she turned to look over her shoulder. "You're quite talented with your powers!" she added, smiling as her gaze swiveled to land on the ninetail's nine tails. "I once heard that the power of your nine tails allows you to do things like that. If you don't mind my asking, is that true?"
Rain: Skylar smiled at Riley as she got to work. She was glad that she had the Flaffy helping her out. She was so kind and ready to help. She giggled softly. "It depends on the Ninetales. There are rumors that some Ninetales have hidden powers, and it's channeled through their tails, but most of that isn't true. We can learn a Psychic attack or two, but it isn't because of our tails." She turned back to the food. "I'm actually not completely sure why, but I can tell you that our attacks aren't powered by our tails."
Meteorstar: "Really? That's very interesting." Riley smiled Skylar's way before returning her attention to the food that she was working with. "Thank you for letting me know! It’s good to know fact from rumor." Once she was done on her part, she started to step back to lean against another part of the counter. "There is a ninetails at the ranger academy where I study, and he doesn't ever miss a chance to brag about just how powerful his tails make him." She sighed softly. "He's the one who told me the rumors first, so I didn't believe them, but I started to hear them from more and more people, so I thought that maybe, like you said, it depended on the ninetails." She glanced at Skylar's tails once again. "How much control do you have over them?"
