Warrior Cats is infamous among the community for having a large cast of blank slates. More cats keep being born, with seemingly little to separate them from the masses. This isn’t limited to only the more recent arcs; I mean, how much characterization did cats like Frostfur or Patchpelt ever get in arc 1? If anything, the issue is getting better with POVs in Clans other than ThunderClan, and ASC has been making good progress in giving characterization to background cats.
So is this lack of characterization so big an issue? How about we test it?
I want to operate this kind of like a game thread. Person 1 gives a seemingly obscure cat, and Person 2 writes something they remember about that cat, being a specific moment that stood out, an interesting backstory, a complicated family history, anything that could help differentiate them from other cats.
Example:
Person 1: Dewnose
Person 2: Pretty irresponsible mentor to Thriftpaw by sending her out to collect herbs in the cold, freaks out pretty quickly when she doesn’t return quickly in Spotfur’s Rebellion. Hangs out with Plumstone and bugs Nightheart about his loyalty in Thunder. Comforts Lilypaw as an apprentice in Bramblestar’s Storm.
Next cat, Leafshade.
That’s the idea, if anyone wants to try it out!
I’ll start it off with Lizardtail.

Lost his mate and all but one of his kits. He is a very hopeful and logical cat, and was considered to be a possible candidate for the leadership of RiverClan.

She's quite impulsive, and easily influenced, but generally a well-meaning cat. She doesn't really like Squirrelflight, but still respects her. She is really close to her kin, but doesn't necessarily pay much attention to Twigbranch.

Flowerstem may not be good with apprentices, seeing how she is the only cat in her litter who has never been a mentor. She also seems logical in her thinking, not being convinced of anything until she sees evidence, as seen in her behaviour in The Silent Thaw with Bramblestar's Impostor, and her trusting Lightleap in A Light in the Mist due to evidence from battle training.

Energetic and impulsive, which sometimes can lead to her getting into dangerous situations, like when she broke a rib in The Silent Thaw. She was also was very sassy as a kit. She taught her brother basic battle moves, and is very close to her family.

Flywhisker: energetic, craves safety and comfort. She can be responsible, but often questions the power of authority and the importance of loyalty. She is also bored by chores. She's parented by Cinderheart and Lionblaze, with Spotfur and Snaptooth as littermates. Had Twigbranch as a mentor, who was impatient with her. Flypaw was always happier training under praise rather than criticism, like when Finleap stepped in to help with training. Flypaw makes a remark against Twigbranch during a long day of chores rather than an exciting day of hunting or learning to fight, showing that she does not automatically have the highest respect for her authority figures.
As a warrior, Flywhisker often listens to the older warriors' conflicts. She agrees when Thornclaw says ThunderClan is often led by Firestar's kin rather than other cats. Despite this rebellious view on her Clan's leadership, she tries to tell Spotfur not to stand up against Bramblestar because it could be dangerous and result in cats getting hurt. Flywhisker volunteers for patrols sometimes but also complains about needing to hunt for cats who cannot hunt for themselves. On one patrol, she encourages them to avoid walking on dangerous ice and instead taking the long route. This shows her responsibility and desire for safety, avoiding the dangerous but quicker option.
Flywhisker goes on the Wander with Snaptooth, Thornclaw, Flipclaw, and Graystripe. This shows she questions her loyalty to ThunderClan. When Flipclaw confesses having romantic feelings for her, she rejects him, citing that he isn't her type and she wouldn't want to raise kits in the situation happening with ThunderClan. This also shows her sense of responsibility by considering what kind of climate she would raise hypothetical kits in. She considers becoming a kittypet, where her freedom would be restricted but she would always have a stable source of food and comfort. At first she is hesitant, but, in the end, she goes for this decision.
Next cat: Minnowtail
