I think it's really interesting that the brother who had the invincibility power was their second choice to train. Man now I want to know what would've happened if Spottedleaf hadn't been able to reach him in time, that would've been a cool AU. They could've been lying about teaching him to fight, but, I mean, Brokenstar exists, so...

Lionblaze is more dangerous to train. If he hadn't been under the mistaken impression that you can't kill Dark Forest cats, then he'd have killed Tigerstar in Power of Three. Meanwhile, with Jayfeather, if he gets out of line then killing him is easy.

To add on to the previous point, I would argue that Jayfeather's ability would have been extremely useful to them. Jayfeather could read thoughts, sense cats' feelings, and visit cats' dreams. In a group that punishes disloyalty and demands that cats turn against their own birth Clans, a cat who can figure out who's truly loyal and who intends to betray the Dark Forest would be very valuable. Ivypool would have been screwed if Jayfeather had been with the Dark Forest.

Yes he would have some limitations but they explored it so little before shunting him off to the medicine den. Even if Tigerstar was lying to get Jay on his side they needed to explore Jay fighting more.

Jayfeather had a lot of potential to become an evil cat. He already was a bit power hungry as an apprentice, and was desperate to prove himself. Lost opportunity tbh

This passage sticks out in my brain over this. Jay was like, seven - eight moons old here? Tigerstar needed Thistleclaw's help to get to where he was, who taught him this? It wasn't Squirrelflight, I don't think even Brambleclaw would be like this since Crowfeather is over there XD

I always did think about this, and it's crazy how much more potential there would have been in them influencing Jayfeather over Lionblaze. Especially since Jayfeather had some serious story-breaking abilities down the line.
