I have actually still not seen it yet- would need to pirate if i do. But from what I can tell non-fans love it, fans are strongly divided. Mostly because Bethesda is going to treat the show as canon from here on, but the timeline either doesn't work out or retcons parts of New Vegas, and considering NV is widely considered the best Fallout game and is basically the only thing holding Fallouts storyline together between 1 & 2 to 3 & 4. So, if New Vegas events don't happen, then you might as well consider them two different timelines entirely with only similar worldbuilding and split it right down the middle into to Obsidian's Fallout and Bethesda's Fallout.
Still going to watch it but it was definitely a bad move, or at least they could have done their homework. I mean, fans have literally already done the work for them on that because there is an entire wiki page dedicated to outline the most important events in what locations and date they happened in.

Idk what any of this means but the story seems to flow fine and the overall ratings are pretty good at an 8.7/10 on IMDB and a 94% on rotten tomatoes. Though, I can imagine why a game fan would be more nitpicky when it comes to things like the lore.

Though, I can imagine why a game fan would be more nitpicky when it comes to things like the lore. Fallout 1 & 2 were made by the game company Obsidian and are both gameplay and tonally very different from the new games, after Bethesda bought the rights to Fallout. But New Vegas is kind of their "link" game, because Bethesda worked WITH Obsidian on it and the events tied the old & new games together, both in tone and story. But from what people are saying, and Bethesda saying the show is canon. It retcons Fallout fans favorite game and essentially, 1 & 2 with it since they won't have those pieces of lore to hold it together. Imagine if Warrior cats made a movie that followed the lake and part of its plot subtly retconned the forest entirely, but then you have issues like: where did firestar and skyclan come from? why is tigerstar and his kin important? which will never be resolved without the original arc. I believe what people have said about it being good its just. Either intentionally disregarding or being sloppy about source material. Which is gonna annoy people. I think they shouldn't treat it as canon and instead have kept it "based on". Supplementary material.

I know I'm kinda late to the thread but I honestly really liked the show! I've been a fan of the games for a while so I am biased, but the show does a good job of not relying heavily on them. I saw the New Vegas fanboys complaining about how to retcons stuff, though Todd himself said while the show is canon, it does not change New Vegas' timeline and it's still a part of the lore. Some comments were made about Fallout 4 too. I guess we'll have to wait to see in the next season.
Anyway, while I liked all the protagonists, I was surprised with how much I liked Lucy. As well as Norm and Chet, who I know were kinda secondary characters but honestly the whole Vault mystery was really well done and there were times I was more invested in that then what the three main protagonists were doing. The secondary characters (Norm, Chet, Steph, and Thaddeus off the top of my head) were super enjoyable and I love them.

I don't know anything about the games, but it's nice that people who are fans are enjoying the show. It makes me want to delve into the game lore, watch 2 hr long videos, kinda like I did with FNAF lolol. I thought Maximus was a bit weak when compared to the other two protagonists. I'm not entirely sure what it was. He just seemed...a bit bland? I liked Thaddeus and Dane as characters that were a part of the knights. Hope we see more of them in season 2, especially Thaddeus. I love how Lucy stuck to her values. She could've easily had a corruption arc and I am so glad it did not go that way. I love Ella Purnell, from her role in Yellowjackets to the fact she voices Jinx in Arcane. Hope her career continues to blossom. Norm and Chet were a super enjoyable plotline. Norm, while he considers himself a coward, is probably one of the more courageous characters in trying to unravel all that he's known. An antithesis of Lucy who sticks to her values, Norm deconstructs them. Him and Chet were quite the dynamic duo and I hope Chet gets the opportunity to delve deeper into vault 32 next season.

In 1x6 when Lucy finds the NCR flag and the Fallout 4 main theme starts playing, I did the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme lol. When I first got into the lore I was expecting it to be rather shallow but damn it actually goes deep! Lots of darker themes and dark humor too. Maximus I liked the least out of the main trio. Not because he's a bad character per se but he did feel kind of bland, and kind of...dumb? As in he's absolutely out of his element and consistently unprepared. I've seen some comments he's running with a 10 Luck and 1 Charisma/Intelligence build, which could explain things. I don't him but definitely the weakest link of the main three imo. Thaddeus and Dane were good too. Blew my mind when I found out Thaddeus' actor is goddamn 40 years old. Lucy was great and I love Ella Purnell so I am absolutely biased. Cooper/The Ghoul was awesome and you can tell his actor had a lot of fun with him. Also agreed on Norm! I was worried his sole character trait was going to be "Lucy's brother" but I was very pleasantly surprised. As soon as he said that the Vault council doesn't want their dad back because then they couldn't fight for power is when I knew he's a real one. My guess is that it was intentional to make him a little unlikable and not very charismatic, but also to establish his intelligence and while he calls himself a coward, he’s the only one to investigate Vault 32 and actually read the logs and hack computers for more information because he’s simultaneously the one of two people who questioned the stories that they were told. I also really like the idea that he's Lucy's antithesis in both values and personality! I'm hoping that he just sorta likes...threatens to flip Bud over if he doesn't release him from Vault 31 or something lol. Chet is an interesting place since he also knows what's going on but now he's stuck with Steph who seems to be in on the who thing. Up until really recently the guy's whole world was being in love with his cousin and opening the vault door that never gets opened. He was living in a bubble and did not enjoy what he saw poking his head outside it, and now he's suddenly Steph's new husband. When Norm asked Chet if he was a coward and Chet just kinda agreed and went back to the vault, I think it was such a great moment cause the big guy can be afraid too and doesnt have to be masking behind a manly mask. I found it rather poetic in a way? Chet not arguing that he isn't a coward for leaving Norm, but just kinda accepting Norm's conclusion with "We all are, that's why we live in a vault" was a really great way of showing emotional depth. But with Norm trapped in 31, Chet's the only other one who knows what's up, so I'm very interested in seeing what happens to him. Each one of them represent an archetype of a player character. Lucy is someone who just booted up her first Fallout game has dealt with the tunnel snakes and has to go out into the wasteland. Maximus is the player who wants to be the hero. Cooper is the one who will go in a shoot up whoever and just wants to get what he wants and go from point A to B. Norm is sneaking through every room slowly and picking up each bit of lore.

I've only played a bit of Fallout but I really liked the way they did the show. When it was announced, I was concerned because of Fallout's pretty complex world building and how they'd do it, but they did an amazing job.
Add this show to another of my favourites that Ella Purnell has acted major roles in. Yellowjackets, Arcane, now Fallout? She's a really good actor.

Oh, the amount of Easter eggs there probably were for game fans must’ve been pretty neat! 😩 When Lucy said, “After 10 years of doing cousin stuff,” I was like “of doing what stuff,” but it makes sense, considering how many people are within a vault. I loved how polite she was. Even if it was too a fault. ”You’re a good person for not shooting me!” ”It was really no problem!” Maximus had some really funny dialog that had me laughing at times (the pimple comparison bc what), but ultimately, he was just sorta there for me. I was looking forward to Lucy’s and Cooper’s plot lines and even the secondary characters more. Thaddeus’ actor kinda reminds me of Miles Teller. I loved how they didn’t just make him a one-dimensional asshole. The writers were pretty good at making all the characters well-rounded and endearing. Chet and Norm, my fave dynamic duo. Getting Chet to find out what’s happened with Norm would be a nice way to further his character development. I’m definitely going to have to get into the game eventually. The show is currently a favorite and I’m thinking of rewatching it soon as is. Overall, season 2 cannot get here fast enough. 🙏

While most actors and actresses nowadays feel like Instagram models, she has a distinct look to her that adds to her beauty. Her voice too. She’s also in Maleficent and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. I also cannot wait for Yellowjackets season 3 and season 2 of Arcane 😭 will miss her as Jackie.
