rules: u can not have a tragic backstory for why u have this fear, bc that would ruin the weird factor and just make it sad. also try to keep it weird. weird fears yea lets go
2 things i'm afraid of. vacuum cleaners and mammatus clouds

I wouldn't say a fear of heights is uncommon but to the degree that I am afraid is pretty severe because I get terrified just standing on step stools or stairs that are just a little too narrow or steep and gotta either make someone else do it or scramble up them sideways.

I had the text under my avatar listed as "deathly terrified of severe weather" a couple days ago so severe weather it shall be. I would say thunderstorms but that does have a minor tragic backstory attached to it and I've been doing better when one happens. Severe weather falls under the same umbrella (wow I'm so funny) so I'd figure so just group it all together.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a fear but looking at maps and globes makes me *deeply* uncomfortable. No idea why.

also yes driving is terrifying... like I have complete control over this vehicle and if I have like a really aggressive muscle spasm I could crash like that's so scary
And js in general the knowledge of how much I control it is so scary like... I have free will... what if I just crash this car rn...
Driving on a busy road sounds like trying to navigate a field of landmines or walking on eggshells. all these cars around you full of people with their own lives and dreams and places to be and I have all these rules to follow and I have to stay in this one spot cause if I go too far forward or too far back or to the right or left I could just crash into someone and potentially kill them... like omg that's actually terrifying I'm never ever driving no thanks

I speak for all of us when I say the old fear that unites vhs-era babies: when you would push the vcr rewind button and the tape made the increasingly loud screeching noise that made you think it was going to explode? Yeah. Don't like that at all.

One candidate for the most weird fear is of balloons popping unexpectedly. Like they are balloons at a moment or another they're gonna pop, and most of them aren't even loud.

My laundry machine when it’s overfilled and gets really loud lol YES. It starts shaking violently and I immediately stop what I'm doing and RUN to the machine because if I don't stop it in time I think it'll explode like an atom bomb. The house will be poof. No more.

Drugs and alcohol. I think what's weird about my fear is that there's no trauma or anything specific that triggered it. Everyone in my life indulges in alcohol sparingly and moderately.

fish and other non-mammalian sea creatures. i couldn't tell you why, but even looking at photos of them has given me panic attacks before. my friend has multiple, very large aquariums in her home and whenever i visit she (very kindly) covers them with large sheets so i can sit in her living room ahaha

Not being able to touch the ground in a lake or ocean. It's not a fear of drowning or anything under the water, it's just that if I am in the middle of a deep spot and I can't touch the ground, I will panic. Doesn't matter if I have a life vest or not, I will panic. Not for any particular reason either

completely justified. my sister was telling me about how by the time you spot 1 roach baby in your apartment you're doomed to roach hell bc it's incredibly difficult to rid an apartment of roaches. she said that there was 1 tenant in 1 building in her work's complex that didn't do the dishes for too long, and now the entire building is infested. it's terrifying honestly that sounds like she already had an infestation and just didnt know it. not doing the dishes for a few days does not normally attract that many of them that quickly. even when you dont have an infestation tho you can still get them occasionally. often times they crawl up drains from the sewer and get in that way, so we permanently have all our drains 90% closed so they cant get in. i am irrationally v scared of them though. no other bug bothers me. but seeing a roach sends me into a state of complete terror. i could never live alone bc i need someone around who is braver than me to kill the suckers.
