A Tale For the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. HEAVY trigger warnings for suicide and SA though. It's a split POV book following a writer struggling through writer's block and a teenager who moves to Japan and struggles to adjust. The ending loses me a little bit, but Nao's POV MORE than makes up for any issues I have with the book. Fantastic read, but make sure you're in the right headspace when going into it.

"This is what time travel is. It’s looking at a person, and seeing them in the present and the past, concurrently. And that mode of transport only worked with those one had known a significant time."

its a beautiful story. i compare it to la la land in terms of things i think are masterpieces of capturing the human.
for young adult, aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe is a cute story. i didn't read the sequel, but i really liked the first one. maybe not cute. its sweet
vicious by v.e schwab is also good, i mentioned it a long time ago. its not ya though, i don't think.
i wouldn't read when we collided. it seemed cute - it wasn't. i have a strongly worded two star review

haha ive heard of it, i saw it in a meme that was like eliminate one of these six things and it said ' some of you would fold in this position ' and im a big fan of four of the other things (figure 8 by elliot smith, good album. he's one of my favorite artists) so its been on my list appreciate that i'll look into it. im about to reread tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow - similar statements to that book.

going off of that- ive meant to listen to elliot smith, but have never gotten around to it. i've become a huge fan of phoebe bridgers and boygenius in the last year and i've had a lot of people tell me that their lyricism is kinda similar. i'm an english major so i'm huge into lyrics lol. but yeah, i'm a huge fan of sally rooney's writing. it's a little weird because she doesn't use quotation marks, but you get used to it quickly

elliot smith is really beautiful, he had a tragic life and it really shows. between the bars was my first song, and it means a lot to me. i suggest waltz #2 if you like lyricism though, thats one of his most powerful in my opinion. but his either/or album will always mean the most to me. songs like angeles, 2:45 AM, and between the bars are really good warner bros told him they wouldn't let him out of a contract so he threatened to kill himself to release himself from it himself. he was a real one. angeles is my favorite though. i learned it on guitar.
thats cool im a fan of artsy symbolic stuff thats artsy for the sake of it. i'm sure i'd appreciate it
and yeah phoebe and boygenius are really good. only heard a few boygenius songs but i like a lot of phoebes stuff. her being with bo burnham has made my decade

hey i mean we all do crazy things for art am i right lol boygenius is honestly SO good, i've seen them in concert twice and im really sad that theyre not coming back anymore lol. i would definitely recommend them, i cried at their concert listening to cool about it because it reminded me of something i had gone through a few months before. also love phoebe and bo HOWEVER idk the details of bo and his old girlfriend breaking up are a little sus to me thank you for the elliot smith suggestions :)

boy genius was actually at a show the same day or a day after something i went to. cant remember if it was the same venue - the wiltern? i don't know - i actually almost went to see them instead. i found cool about it recently and its a song i don't necessarily relate to but it feels like is talking to me if that makes sense lmfao. nah bo was dating a 30 year old when he was 20 and they stayed together for like 10 years. he needs to be w someone his own age i respect his decision to get outta there matt and zeph tho? not cool with him cheating on his girl to be with her even though i like them together
and of course yeah

yeah!!! they totally got screwed over before. the effort in their videos is great, but im sad matts giving up music. he called it his 'little music thing' in his message shutting down his patreon. unfortunate but yeah i was crying. the dude making toast, 'i had my fingews crossed under the desk,' and ive been saying 'jinx you owe me a confession' ever since. comedy

Guardians of Gahoole, absolutely brutal deaths, like Phillip getting his heart torn out, and strix struma getting her wing ripped off. The book series should have ended with to be a king, though.
